Hell-to-the-Yah! #1: Midget Mac on I Love NY 2
I don’t care if your television taste is more PBS than trash TV, you won’t be able to resist the couch paralysis that happens when the weirdness that is I LOVE NY 2 unfolds on Vh1.

So far, out of all the weird dudes in the bunch, right now I’m on TEAM MIDGET MAC!

(…although somebody needs to tell him to get rid of those horizontal-striped oversized shirts because they do nothing to lengthen his torso.)

And does any body else think it’s odd that when Midget Mac does his solo interviews you can only see from his nose upward? C’mon, camera man/woman! I know it ain’t that hard to lower the lens!

Hell-to-the-Yah! #2: Chanel for Dummies! Multi-Use Makeup Palette and the Winter Nights Quad
BEHOLD! Bow down to the awesomeness that is the Chanel palette.

With a combo of best-selling and exclusive colors, this palette is sure to feed my inner lazy makeup beast but will still leave me looking polished. Four eyeshadows, four lip colors and one blush equals one happy (and broke, it’s $85, OUCH!) Karen.

BUT WAIT…there’s more! The lovely reader Glosslizard sent me this pic of the Winter Nights Quad. You know better than to feed the fire, girl!

Hell-to-the-Yeah! #3: Boot Shopping on Zappos.com

It’s allegedly going to rain today in the Bay Area, which is my lame excuse for spending time in Candy Land, aka, the boot section on Zappos.com.

Where the hell am I going to wear these Gabriella Rocha boots? But I want ‘em, sigh!

Hell-to-the-Yah! #4: Nordstrom Online Beauty Gift
F*ck faxing or filing! If you’re sitting there festering away in your cube you might as well be doing something productive. Right now on the Nordstrom Web site there’s a beauty special offer – spend $95 (and you know that isn’t hard to do) and get the following “free” (HA!) samples and a gold and zebra clutch:

Hell-to-the-Yeah! #5: Kanye West’s new CD, Graduation Day

Either you love him or hate him, you can’t deny that the man can make some beats. My new theme song is on Kanye’s latest CD Graduation, and it’s called Stronger. They hook reads like the story of my life as of late:

“Work it harder make it better,
do it faster makes us stronger,
more than ever, hour after
hour work is never over”

Work it harder today on this lovely Tuesday, ya’ll. I know you can do it!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. What’s on your Hell-to-the-Yah list?!?!

  1. Christine says:

ILNY2, wow, I don’t even know who I’m rooting for. Maybe Chance when he rolls around again – they were so right for each other (though I’d be scared that those two were together!).

Chanel is gonna make you go broke!! $85 for one palette, WHEWWWW!

Those boots are pretty hot, though 😉

  2. Vanessa says:

OMG really what was up with midget Mac??! I almost died laughing. My hell-to-the yeah list are the MAC piggies!

  3. Glosslizard says:

Oh, that is so wrong! Three days after the trend show and Nordstrom comes out with their deluxe GWP now?!? I already spent all my money! 🙁

And Hell-to-the-Yeah on those boots!!! Mmmmmm, boooots!

  4. Megan says:

So I agree on Midget Mac…and I have to say Hell-to-the-Yeah for NY actually being civil unlike her mother who acted like a lunatic.

    My Hell-to-the-yeah list:
    #1 – It’s clinique bonus time at Macys… I’m so excited…and I’m going after work.

#2 – Versace Crystal Noir Perfume…I bought it recently and I love it… not only that I’ve gotten a number of compliments on it. The main scents are Gardenia and Amber…I love it.

  5. Karen says:

    Hey Christine,

Yeah, I know. That palette is definitely going on the “Dear Santa” list. Whether or not the santas (El Hub or the parents) decide to get it for yours truly is questionable though, because as a collective they claim that I have “too much makeup.” WHATEVS!

I dunno, out of last season’s crop of dudes, I’d have to say that REAL was my pick, more than Chance! Who knows, maybe she’ll ask them back!

Oh god, those boots! Where the heck am I gonna wear them? Safeway?

  6. Karen says:

    Hi Vanessa,

Seriously, if Midget Mac doesn’t at least make it to the final three I’ll be really disappointed. It doesn’t seem like there are as many psychos as last season (hello: Romance, Pootie), so there’s nothing like a small person to spice things up, LOL!

So, Christine hooked me up with some MAC pigments and I’ve been carrying them around in my purse for TWO WEEKS! Tomorrow, I swear, I’ll try Jardin Aires.

  7. Karen says:

Glosslizard, Thanks again for the pics, girl. And don’t you hate when you spend your budgeted makeup money and something cool like the deluxe gwp happens? GRRR!

Those boots are gonna give me a heart attack. They are still in my Zappos shopping cart, calling my name!

  8. Karen says:

    Hi Megan,

Sister Patterson is *too much*. I agree with you – I was actually really surprised that NY was so nice to him.

What did you get at Clinique? I know that they have really gorgeous holiday stuff coming out. Right now I want to try their “Moisture Online” face moisturizer. I’ve heard it’s very moisturizing and doesn’t break you out.

And that Versace perfume sounds pretty! I am going to Macy’s to do some CELEB PERFUME investigation in the next few days and will put that on my list of things to sniff.

  9. Christine says:

I swear I saw on the previews that Chance does come back, and then she’s all, “I have a surprise for you all” which I believe is him going back on the show – just like NY did on FF2.

I don’t like asking for makeup for gifts, only because I’m like, “Okay, do I really need that 250th eyeshadow?!”

  10. Fie says:

Oooh the boots are gorgeous. Hmm… well I don’t fancy much the Kanye cover for the Stronger song. I must prefer the Daft Punk original version but it’s call Harder Better Faster not Stronger. 🙂

  11. Karen says:

The marathon for the first season of ILNY was on this past weekend, and I watched a few episodes, including the first one where Mr. Boston tells Chance he needs ritalin, and then Chance goes off on a verbal tirade that goes on for days and spans 10 different subjects and then at the end asks, “What the heck is ritalin?” LOLOLOLOL

If anyone comes back it better be Real!

Ha! Funny you should mention getting shadow; when my parents came over this past weekend my mom looked at my stash and said, “So, does this mean that I don’t have to go to the MAC counter this year at Christmas?”

  12. Karen says:

    hi fie,

thanks for letting me know – i always like knowing where samples come from (weird, i know) so i’ll have to find that daft punk original.

yah, so far the votes are towards buying the boots… they are *still* sitting there in my zappos shopping cart, so we’ll see if i’m still feeling them tomorrow!

  13. J-Money says:

Thank you! I’ve had a frustrating morning and it’s only 9:30am!!! But the hell-to-the-yah list got me all insired. I just might have to make a zappo stop. I’ve been wanting some suede ankle boots in chocolate brown. I have an outfit that is begging for it. OH, and I need to check out textured tights. Winter is fast approaching and it’s time to cover the legs up!

Ummmm, and when did ILNY2 begin!! i’m a little distraught with the fact that it is not currently programmed in my tivo. BAHHHH!!!

Thank you! I’ve had a frustrating morning and it’s only 9:30am!!! But the hell-to-the-yah list got me all inspired. (by the way, random thought: I have a tank top that says Hell-to-the-nah, and I love it.) I just might have to make a zappo stop. I’ve been wanting some suede ankle boots in chocolate brown. I have an outfit that is begging for it. OH, and I need to check out textured tights. Winter is fast approaching and it’s time to cover the legs up!

  15. Christine says:

If NY got with Real, I think she would end up cheating on him with Chance!

What’s on your wishlist for holidays? HMM, I think that will be tomorrow’s Temptalia question!

  16. Kyle says:

So… you got the chanel palette? I’m definitely on the verge of breaking down and buying it. (regardless of the fact I need to be saving every darn penny i’ve got!) i just… need it. do you ever feel like that? like you’ve had the poopiest day ever and the one thing that could REALLY cheer u up is an $85 Chanel Palette? ahaha show restraint! eh, whatever. if i hear it’s all it’s cracked up to be- i might just have to pay up.

  17. Karen says:

How rad was that link with “Let me be the one” that you sent me! That made my morning.

You know who wants to buy some ankle boots? MY MOM. She told me so last Friday.

I love textured tights, especially when I’m too lazy to shave, HA!

You better get on TEAM MIDGET MAC asap! Tivo that shizz…you can’t always be watching what the boy likes (you know, History Channel and “I Shouldn’t Be Alive”)

  18. Karen says:

OHHH that’s a good question for your blog.

    On my wishlist so far:

    1 million dollars
    complete self awareness
    a striped tabby cat and/or a pony

but realistically I know I won’t get any of these anytime soon. Until then there’s:

    – either Chanel palette
    – a few MAC brushes for eye detailing
    – warm pajamas
    – a new Sonicare toothbrush

    How about you?

  19. Karen says:

    Hi Kyle,

Nah, I haven’t purchased it…I need new boots and some new winter sweaters first. I made the mistake of washing a lot of mine in the washer last year and most of them shrunk. It’s so not cute!

Lemme know if you end up buying it and if you LOVE IT!

  20. Megan says:

I was so good at the clinique counter… but in my mind I’ve already gone back later this month… My sister’s birthday is this weekend and I, being the awesome sister I am, bought her an great present…therefore I got moisturizer, cleanser and one eyeliner…which is not splurging at all…those things are necessities. 🙂 They have some really nice colors for the holidays and during my perusing I also checked out some awesome purses… hmmm… I definately wish I was and heiress or otherwise…but for now…I’m waiting another week until my next paycheck…and then I’ll make up for it. The funny thing…my family/friends et al. all hate getting my cosmetics for holidays… my mom says that my taste is always so expensive and she hates just having a few small boxes… BY THE WAY…do you try to convert your mom? Mine’s not much for makeup…and I’ve been buying her make up and skin care for like the past few years…she really loves it…but she’s still not into it…I got her like most of the bare escentuals line last Christmas and she refers to it as her “special occasion make up.” Oh and I bought her some Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara after you recommended it… 🙂 Which she has been using.

  21. Karen says:

Megan, you are such a great sister! I wish my brother would buy me some makeup! He “allegedly” tried to get me some MAC last year, hmmm….I think he just didn’t want to go up to the counter and have all the MUA’s pawn over his silky, black hair (he has really long hair and gets a lot of attention from the ladies ’cause of it.)

Anyway, that’s great that you got your moms some 2000 calorie! What does she think of it? L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black is another good one to try too, if she’s not crazy about it.

And yes, I *do* try to convert my mom. In fact, when she and my dad came by last Friday for dinner I sent her away with a ton of products including two lipsticks in natural tones. She is kinda stuck in the 90’s and likes dark, matte shades so I’m trying to expand her lipstick range. I don’t think I’m very successful though. I always tell her to actually USE the products, because otherwise she just keeps them on a display shelf in the bathroom because she thinks they look pretty.

Clinique has some AWESOME stuff lined up for Holiday. Stay tuned – I have a few great Clinique centered posts lined up in November.

BTW, didja find any cute purses? I’m looking for one for myself right now for work!
