If you took away my Tarte Bottoms Up lower lash mascara ($14), I’d probably get the shakes and start rocking back and forth. Maybe drool a little bit too.
Tarte made it special for lower lashes. It’s a water-resistant (not quite waterproof) black, and even though I’ve only been using it for a week, I’m already hooked. *I LOVE* how this mascara makes my eyes look bigger and more alert, like I’m actually awake, even when I’m dog tired.
Tarte Bottoms up mascara brush on top, Clinique High Impact Curling mascara brush head on bottom
Don’t let the tiny bottle fool you; Bottoms Up packs some serious makeup juju. Even though the brush head and bristles are about half normal size, they work mad, crazy good. I think the smaller head helps to thoroughly coat each lash evenly because it can sneak into all the crevices. It works better at coating and separating lower lashes than any mascara brush I’ve ever used before.

Bottoms Up separates and defines lashes without clumping or flaking and lasts all day long with nary a smudge.

Just to see what would happen, I paired it with Clinique High Impact Curling mascara on the top lash.
Check out the doe-eyed girl, LOL!

Hey, ladies! Hope you had a terrific Tuesday. Thanks for helping me decide on my new hair ‘do! I’m pretty much 99% sure I’m gonna go with the Vanessa Hudgens cut with the bangs. 🙂
My itch for a new look hasn’t stopped with the new ‘do. I haven’t gone shopping in forever, and spring’s the time for renewal, right? — so I was also thinking about some new budget-friendly accessories and tops.
I’m heading into SF on Friday to have lunch with a friend, and I’m going to try to swing by H&M and Old Navy while I’m there. I’ve got my eye on these springy knit tops for $10. Cute, yah?
Homework time… I have class tomorrow and better get to my reading. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I can’t use any product on the bottom lashes as my eyes water too much due to my contact lenses. But I may have to check this product out for special occasions.
Make sure you bundle up on Friday. It’s supposed to rain.

Ooh, must have! I love the look of defined lower lashes, but I hate it when they look all long and spidery! This seems perfect!
I also love that black tank with the cheery red flowers!

I saw this in Sephora~ However, I have to admit I’m very partial to my Maybelline Lash Discovery mascara for my lower lashes, but I’d probably give this a try once that runs out 😉 But I’m really intrigued by the Clinique High Impact Curling mascara! Do you know when it will be released?
And I honestly think bangs will suit you! And look at it this way, the style you’re planning on getting isn’t too short, so if you do end up not liking the style (you never know) at least it’ll grow out and merge with your other layers faster. That’s the first style of bangs I went with since I was kind of unsure how I’d like it. Good luck with the cut, I’m sure you’ll love it 🙂

OMG…this is exactly what I need. Finally someone is thinking of the lower lashes!

OMG, I cannot justify spending $14 on a mascara for my “lower lashes.” Why not just be more careful with your normal mascara brush? Sorry Karen but I’m calling scam on this.

Hi Marisol,
It is? Bummer! This sunshine has got me thinking that it’s already spring!

Hi Glosslizard,
Me too — I don’t like it when they look too thick, either, and I think this brush gets it just right.

Hi Lesley,
Clinique High Impact is currently available at Nordstrom! 🙂 So far I’m really liking it.
Thanks for your input on the hair. It’s been *forever* since I’ve cut mine so I’m looking forward to that lighter than air feeling you get when you chop a whole bunch off, LOL. Did you find that your bangs were hard to maintain? The only thing I’m worried about is them getting all over the place when I work out, but I guess I’ll just have to stock up on clips and stuff.

Hi Shefali,
I know! I have tried this with other mascara brushes and it never looks this natural. Love it!

Hi Archelle,
I think that the mascara gives the lower lashes definition without making them look too fake — I’ve tried it with other mascaras and the look is definitely very heavy, which is why I like this one! 🙂

Oh, wow! I never really put mascara on my lower lashes, but I might have to give this a shot. Very cool!
I’m glad you are going to do the Vanessa Hudgens bangs. The style is super-cute and it will look awesome on you. Kudos to you for asking what other people thought. When I change my hairstyle, I find a pic of what I want on the day that I am going to get my haircut and get it done. No second questions, no looking back. I wish I had the patience that you do with your hair when it comes to haircuts!

So pretty! I just use my Lashblast on both upper and lower lashes…I’d lose the little bottle lol.
Bangs are cute! Just make sure you REALLY want them, I’m still trying to grow mine out. You’ll look pretty anyway you do your hair Karen!

I’ve been on and off with bangs for the past four years and from my experience everytime I get them trimmed it can get annoying when the hairs get all over the place when working out and sleeping. You can’t really do anything about it but clip it back, but specifically when I’m working out I usually use my scrünci headbands with the rubberized no slip grip so the bangs don’t slide out.
You’ll also want to pin them back when you sleep to prevent skin irritation as well. The first time I got fringe I broke out on my left cheek 🙁
It’s pretty easy to maintain, but I’ve also learned how to trim my fringe myself over the years. Some salons offer free fringe touch ups, so you can always ask your salon if they offer that service.
I hope you post pictures! I’m really excited for you! 🙂

Karen, you’re making me itchy to get this one even though I’m a drugstore finder.. This mascara sure gives you a wide eye look, very refreshing. The last time I tried lining my lower lash with a mascara wand -the plastic spikes-I pulled a few of my lower lashes out. Now that they grow but all in the wrong place, too near my waterline. @_@ maybe I should give this a try

SO today I go into Sephora to buy this product because it’s totally hot and I’m a sucker for anything like that… so I go in and mention it to the salesperson and she tells me not to buy it because its a total waste of money and a bad product.
WTF? Who should I listen to?
