Did you feel that?? That little shiver in your loins when you laid eyes on Jouer Creme Eyeshadow in Organza? That, my friend, is what I like to call a taupe-gasm. It’s not an official word (yet), and you won’t find it in Webster’s, but it’s only a matter of time before the verbal powers-that-be enter it officially…like they did with ginormous. 🙂
They occur when when taupes hit you with a BANG! — which is exactly what went down the first time I put this creamy, $20 lavender taupe shadow on my eyes.
When I have it on I feel like my peepers shine in a way that says, “Booyah, b*tches, I got eight solid hours of sleep last night!” I think it’s the subtle sheen in the pigmented formula that does the trick. It adds just the right touch of glow without looking too glittery or frosty.
If you decide to take Organza out for a spin, you might layer a primer like NARS Pro Prime beneath it. Paired with a good primer, Organza lasts all day on my eyes with very little fading or creasing; without one, however, Organza creases in less than an hour and disappears after about three.
Texture-wise, it feels like a slightly thinner version of a MAC Paint Pot. It is on the drier side, but it still feels silky and soft, and speaking of MAC, Organza could look killer layered beneath MAC Satin Taupe…
Intrigued by the idea of Jouer Creme Shadows but not into lavender taupes? There are three other shades in the line that I think look really cute — Chiffon (a shimmery ivory), Feather (a shimmery pink champagne) and Cashmere (a shimmery golden taupe).

I have a love affair with taupe anything. I’m not sure what it is about it, but I find it a really complex and beautiful shade. And it seems to be universally flattering. I wish this brand was more easily accessible to me because you just created a lemming!
Karen says
Hi Jessi,
If you can’t fight the lemming, well, it’s available online:

The other day, I was looking at the picture you posted of this and pointed it out to a non-makeup-liking friend of mine. I was like ‘ISN’T THAT PRETTY?’ And she was all ‘I thought you didn’t like brown.’ And I was like, ‘ZOMFG, THAT’S NOT BROWN IT’S TAUPE.’ Aren’t I articulate?
The caps lock in my speech is to get the excitement of my speech across in the form of the written word. No real uppercase letters were harmed in the above conversation, though I suppose they were in this comment. =]
Karen says
LOL!

I love anything taupe. This looks like what I had hoped Chanel’s Taupe Gris would be.
Karen says
This would probably look really pretty as a base for that shade!
beeks says
Hey Karen! I see what you mean about the 8-hours-of-sleep effect on you. I don’t know if this colour would have the same effect on my pale (NW15-20-ish) skin, but can you rec any products or shades that might? Thanks!
Karen says
Hi Beeks,
Chiffon or Feather might work for you. Also look into Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadows in RSVP and Tattle Tale (swatches here) and NARS Shadow Pencil in Hollywoodland (swatches here).
beeks says
<3 Creaseless Creams! Thanks for the recs!

Did you use a setting powder over this at all? I have found that works well for me and cream lately. Just a thought… still love it.
Karen says
Nope, I didn’t. Maybe I’ll try that when I wear it next. 🙂

That taupe is already gorgeous…paired with a smooth cream shadow formula?! I must hide my wallet from myself!

Oh it looks almost similar to that Rimmel mono eyeshadow I picked up a few months ago!
Karen says
Bet it would look pretty as a base!
Kim says
Very nice! I made a poor shadow decision this AM and am currently being blinded by fallout (the glitter on my cheeks is sort of pleasant, though). 🙂 Darn that Private Affair palette. And I know you tried to warn me. I was just seduced by the shimmer!
Karen says
Shimmer seduction happens! I’m guilty of it many times over. Did you wear a primer beneath?
Kim says
I did – UD Eden on the lids. I’ve been using my sample of Tarte ReCreate under my lower lashes and have been liking that too. It’s not tinted and is much smoother (so no visible settling into the wrinkles). I really don’t like migrating liner and I feel like this helps.
Karen says
Ugh, tell me about stuff settling into wrinkles. That is the bane of my existence these days!
Kim says
I hear that! And I see some older ladies with the migrating lower liner and think “well, that’s me in a few years!”. I swear, it just travels down there like tributaries from a river. It’s already beginning. Sigh. 🙂
Ruchita says
This is a great color! I love taupes and anything that helps me look more awake is a good thing!
Karen says
Amen to that, Ruchita!

This reminds me of MAC Satin Taupe in the pan.
Karen says
Yup! It should look good layered beneath it.
DanaJae says
Hi Karen,
When I saw this and started reading I thought it looked a ton like satin taupe – what would you say the differences are? Cuz I do lub me some satin taupe <3
Karen says
Hi DanaJae,
Satin Taupe is slightly more purple and darker than this shade. 🙂
JessM says
Very pretty! It reminds me of Laura Mercier metallic cream shadow in alloy – a total fave.
Karen says
I see the resemblance!

Ahhh, I just went to the website and they’re all gorgeous! However, I feel like it’s way too soon for me to purchase more makeup, considering the last time was not even Monday. When I was at CVS yesterday picking up some Allegra (ugh, SO MUCH pollen — my navy blue car looks green right now), I broke down and bought a couple of those Milani pencils. I’m going to go hang my head in shame now, lol.
Oh well, maybe the makeup fairy will leave them under my pillow tonight. She’s a fourth cousin of the tooth fairy, you know.
Karen says
The pollen is CRAY-CRAY where I live too. I’m more of a Zyrtec kinda girl myself…
So, which Milani pencils did you get? Any colors I need to add to my stash? 🙂
Instant Karma (formerly L) says
I got the three reddish ones, but sadly, two of them don’t work for me at all. When you look at the pencils, they all look like different shades of red: a pinkish red, an orangey red, and a cool toned red. Only Hot Flash (the cool red) applies how it looks like it should, both as a swatch on my NC20-25 skin and on my lips. It’s also the most pigmented of the three. Photo Flash, the one that appears to be a dark pinkish red, applies as hot pink. It’s pretty opaque, but not as much so as Hot Flash. Flash Light — the one I was most excited about — looks like this gorgeous orangey red, but it applies as a watermelon pink. Even more disappointingly, it’s MUCH sheerer than the other two. To get Photo Flash to appear as pigmented as Hot Flash on my pale hand, I had to go over my swatch two times (three layers in total). As for Flash Light, I had to add an additional EIGHTEEN layers before giving up on it. It became clear to me that there was no way it could get any more opaque; however, by the time I hit a dozen or so layers, it was decently pigmented (the additional applications didn’t really do anything but spread the product around). Nonetheless, even after nineteen layers, it still wasn’t quite as opaque as one layer of Photo Flash, and certainly not as much as one layer of Hot Flash. Hot Flash’s pigmentation is fantastic, and Photo Flash’s is quite good, but Flash Light’s is pretty abysmal.
I’m very rigid when it comes to lip color, so even if Flash Light were more pigmented, I still wouldn’t wear it (and I can’t pull off Photo Flash, either). Because my lips are a very pigmented berry-red color, most lip colors don’t work for me. As a result, I only wear shades that either bring out even more of a berry tone or make my lips a brighter shade of red (any shade of red will do, although I tend to wear neutral or warm reds more often than cool ones). Seriously, when I was 6, I went to a weeklong sleep away camp. A park ranger came to talk to us about nature and safety, and when I correctly answered a question he’d posed to us, he said, “There’s a bright girl behind all that lipstick.” I was so embarrassed! Needless to say, I was not wearing anything on my lips. Also, the guy I dated freshman and sophomore year of college thought I always wore lipstick. After a month or two, he realized he was wrong — the color didn’t go away when he kissed me, lol.
Anyway, enough weird stories about my lips, lol. Photo Flash is really pretty, but it looks horrendous on me. I also imagine Flash Light would look nice on someone else, but it’s seriously sheer, so if you want the same level of pigmentation, don’t get it. You’d probably end up going through the stick super quickly because you need to use so much to make it show up even on light skin, and I’m kind of surprised I didn’t destroy the tip from pushing so hard on it to actually be able to see the color. I’m at my parents’ house to help with Tigger, and my mother told me that Photo Flash looked so bad on me, I could only wear it on Halloween. Flash Light, on the other hand, simply looked “terrible,” which I guess is a step up, lol. I like Hot Flash, though (even though it makes me think of menopause, haha). If you want a hot pink that’s a little darker than most other hot pinks, Photo Flash is nice, and Hot Flash is a nice cool-toned red (but it has a serious metallic finish). I don’t think I could recommend Flash Light to anyone unless she had very pale skin and extremely light colored lips.
