Does The Greatest Scrub of All ($13) live up to its name? That’s hard to say, but one thing’s for sure: It looks *way* cute. 🙂
Doesn’t the pink/blue/gray packaging have a girly feel to it, like it’s a product that obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously? And, hello, the claim on the front of the tube? — “exfoliating grains that pop when you press them”?
Explosions get me every time…
A scrub for everyone
An exfoliating facial scrub marketed for all skin types, it contains salicylic acid (aka BHA) to slough away dead skin cells, control oil, clear clogged pores and fight pimples, and, as an added Tabs-approved bonus, Soap & Glory claims it was people tested (as opposed to animal tested, meow!).
I really like washing my face with it in the mornings, when the minty, kinda floral scent feels invigorating — much better than a wake-up call and without the annoying ring.
I use a small amount the size of a dime in the palm of my hand to clean my face and neck, scrubbing for about a minute before I rinse. Afterward, my skin feels smooth, refreshed AND moisturized, making it a beauty triple threat!
Popping action
The small, round beads in the product clean without scratching my skin, but in terms of the popping action, well, don’t expect big snaps, crackles and pops. The sound effects here are subtle.
I was really hoping for crackling fireworks (because that’s how I roll), but the gentle scrub and awesome scent make up for it.
After about a week with The Greatest Scrub of All, I can say that it hasn’t broken me out and that my skin does feel a little softer than it did before. That, and the couple pimples I have/had on my forehead look slightly less inflamed and obvious than they did.
Since I haven’t been trying anything else new with my skin care routine (and my skin does respond well to salicylic acid), I credit the scrub.
For a drugstore product, The Greatest Scrub of All lightens your wallet to the tune of $13, but it’s not bad for the price. It’s a gentle cleanser with a scent I like, and it cleans well without stripping my skin. Not bad for a drugstore splurge. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

Hahaha, I love the packaging. It made me laugh. The song “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston popped into my head after I read that.
And the grains pop? Wha? I’ll have to try this!
Karen says
Hi Jen,
They pop — but just a little!
I still love that song, BTW. Oh, I wish I could go back in time and rescue Whitney from Bobby B! If only I had the powder to time travel.

Sounds pretty cool. Maybe not amazing, but hey, for $13 I’d go for it! (And at the very least it could just sit in my bathroom and look all colorful and pretty :D)

Hi Rebecca,
Ha! I was kinda thinking that I might get more of the line solely for the “looks pretty in the bathroom” factor!

I have this one! I bought a few different bits and pieces from the Soap and Glory line a couple of months back and this is the only one that didn’t end up getting thrown out. I had a facial peel and the eye gel which made my eyes a kind of puffy that I’d never ever seen before, nor want to again!
I quite like this scrub as it gives you that feeling of exfoliating without feeling like its too much. I’d always used the St Ives apricot scrub but I’m finding lately that I end up ultra-red afterwards, so I may have to pull this one out of my storage box (aka, where unwanted products go to die! LOL) and give it another go.
I was a bit disappointed by the lack of “POP” in the popping beads too. I was hoping for a little more oomph!

Hi Beth,
YIKES! Good to know about the eye gel!

I may have to try this next time I need a scrub. Have you tried the neutrogena grapefruit scrub? It’s my current fave – it smells AMAZING.

I like the cheeky retro feel to the packaging and I would buy it just for the novelty factor. Snap, Crack and Pop!

Hi Amy,
LOL! I wish it popped a little more. 🙂
All of the packaging from the line is equally as cute. I’m such a suckaaa!

Wow — what a video! My camera pretty much just interprets “fireworks!” as “huge blurs!” Perhaps I’ll give this a sniff the next time I see some Soap and Glory…

Karen says
Hi Rae,
Yeah, it smells really good — it’s minty, but not overly so like toothpaste. 🙂

Ha! As soon as I read this title, I got the ‘ole Whitney Houston “Greatest Love of All” stuck in my head, only with “scrub” replacing “love”. ROTFL.
Anyway! Does it sound like Rice Krispies? Or more subtle?

That would be so neat if it was like pop rocks on your face. I think it would put me on edge in a guilty pleasure kind of way. Haha. That sounds gross.
But I mean, the idea of a nice grainy exfoliator gently pop pop popping on my skin kinda sends chills down my spine.

I’ve been looking for a new face scrub. This blog is perfect timing as always. Whenever I’m in need of a beauty product I swear you post a blog about it the next day. lol

Hi Karen,
The packaging kind of reminds me of Blue Q products, which I haven’t seen around in a while. I wonder if they’re related. I’m kind of unnaturally drawn to things that pop (I’m a fiend for bubble wrap) so I think I would like this, but maybe I should stay away…the last time I had a shower gel with little bath beads in it, I would just hang out in the shower popping the little beads with my hands, until my hands would get all pruney. TMI? Heh. :-/
Karen says
Hi Sole,
Yah, I remember that line. I wonder what happened to it!
Ha! I am a bubble wrap popper too. I especially enjoy the sheet that comes with a box of See’s Candies.
