Wearing NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in International Velvet
Look out for shorty!
I gotta get that printed on a t-shirt…
No, seriously. Have I ever told you about my weird knack for crossing paths with swarms of really, really tall people?
I’m like a giant magnet! — and by that I mean a magnet for giants.
Happens all the time. Pretty much every time I’m out walking in a crowded place, and it doesn’t matter if I spot the giants coming from a mile away. Some how, some way, I always end up in their path, darting back and forth between their long legs like a cat in a giraffe stampede!
It’s the weirdest thing…
Happened last Friday in Tahoe, as a matter of fact. There I was, making my way across the casino toward the Kitty Glitter machine the restroom when a pack of really tall dudes suddenly appeared!
Gah! I tried to cut left but was blocked by a line of craps tables, then right but was blocked by a slow-moving couple.
By then, it was too late…
The giants descended upon me like…giants! Instinctively, I brought my hands up to protect my face, as I was carried along the casino floor like a tiny leaf in a rushing river of striped shirts and strong cologne. The creatures barked, too, shouting “Yo, bro!” at each other and slapping high-fives.
I told myself, “stay calm,” and retreated to my mental safe place. For strength, I tried to think of something larger than life…
…like the five new NARS Larger Than Life Lip Glosses from the Andy Warhol Pop Holiday 2012 collection ($26 each). 🙂

The NARS Larger Than Life Lip Glosses from the Andy Warhol Pop Holiday 2012 collection
- Available in five shades — Penny Arcade (a creamy, sheer raspberry), International Velvet (a creamy and sheer cool pink), Viva (a creamy, pigmented rosy brown), Candy Says (a shimmery pink with white pearl) and Hollywoodlawn (a creamy orange).
- Each of the $26 0.19-ounce tubes comes with a tiny brush applicator, which truth be told, I’m not crazy about (where’s mah doe-foot, François?).
- The brush applicator does a fine job getting into corners, but it has a hard time applying the product evenly without streaks (the coverage evens out somewhat after it settles).
- They have a slightly sticky texture.
- Last from 2-3 hours on my lips.
- They’re unscented but have a light brown sugar flavor that I like.
- I wouldn’t consider them moisturizing, but at least they aren’t drying.
- The super shiny finish mellows down to a soft sheen over time.
Take it from me, if you ever find yourself caught in one of those giant stampedes, just remember, this too shall pass…but if it doesn’t and goes on more than a few seconds, wave your arms around and yell, “GAHHH! LEMME OUT!” 🙂
PRICE: $26 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming October 1 to Sephora stores and sephora.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B (pretty colors, but the application can be a bit tricky with the included brush)
Misery, oui oui
Swear to gawd, I can’t watch this video without cracking up laughing!
Meet Henri, morose long-haired kitty philosopher.

Loving the look of Viva and Candy Says, but I’m with you on preferring a doe foot applicator!
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched that video. It’s just amazing!

By the way, I thought of you when I saw THIS at my local bookstore the other day:

Pretties! But I’m not paying $26 for only 2-3 hours of pretty!
Lulle says
Viva is my favorite, very nice shade for fall.
Love your hair by the way!
This is really a great cat video, I just wonder why the cat speaks French since he obviously doesn’t know it. I can’t understand without reading the subtitles in English, and I’m a native speaker…

Penny Arcade looks tempting….

I’ve always loved Nars gloss colors but I just can’t get past the stickiness! My hair always gets caught in it and then I’m that girl who’s trying to talk to someone and is constantly trying to pull my hair out of my face/lips.

You look freakin gorgeous! And I can’t decide what color I like best lol. I’m leaning towards Viva and International Velvet . Love Nars <3

Amazing hair, skin and eyes! You are seriously glowing-so happy for you! Viva and Penny Arcade are my favorites!
International Velvet doesn’t look much in the hand swatch, but on you it look like a million bucks!
Keep glowing! *Hugs*

Yeah, Viva and Hollywoodland look spectacular on you–and I LOVE what you did with your eyes here. I swear, you are constantly outdoing yourself with the FOTDs here. Just when i think I couldn’t love a look more, you go and top it!

All the shades are gorgeous and pigmented! Must check out!

I’ve been getting a lot of requests for one! I have it on my list of posts to write. 🙂

I like these much better than the polishes but I’m not too excited about the brush or the streaky application (or the wear time!). Your hair is awesome, btw. 🙂
The Hubs is really tall so I’m used to being around the giants. Your story still made me laugh, though. Esp the kitty in a sea of giraffe legs. Love it!
Karen says
Thanks! It’s behaving well for once. We’ll see how long that lasts, haha!
How tall is the hubs?
Kim says
I hear you! It’s on a good run, though. Not that it ever looks bad, but it’s particularly fabulous lately. 🙂
He’s 6’4. I’m 5’6″ so there’s a decent size differential. Though we have friends where the husband is about 6’5″ and the wife is about 5’2″. It’s like Gulliver’s Travels. HAHA!
I think the boys are going to be tall, too. They’re 9 yo and just about 5′ already. And their feet are almost as big as mine.
Ankita@corallista says
Penny Arcade and Viva are GORGEOUS!
Monique says
hollywoodland all the way! hot!

Haha, I’m also on the short side, and I can totally relate to experience the ‘giants’. How DO they just appear out of nowhere? They’re like trees…that move! 😉
Tania says
I’m 5ft 11 so I don’t have any idea what you feel in regards to stampedes. I CAN’T stand it when I’m walking behind a bunch of slow moving people and can’t get out. Love Andy Warhol and the superstars. Have the Edie biography and am obsessed, wish I was Ultra Violet though!
Eden-Avalon says
