I’m Sweet on Caramel: Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Lace Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Caramel

Calling all nudists! Before you strip off your Gap baby T, please note that I’m talking about nudists, as in nude lips, not, um…actual nudists. :)

If you love a nude lip look, let Dolce & Gabbana’s new Caramel Ultra Shine Lipgloss ($30), released with the Sicilian Lace Collection for fall, whet your appetite. This creamy, medium-weight warm beige feels slightly sticky on my lips (but not as sticky as a MAC Lipglass) and has a light rose scent (it is unflavored, though).

I get about two and a half hours of color from Caramel when I wear her all by her lonesome. I bet she’d also look divine layered on top of a favorite nude lip liner, too… Can you imagine? — with sooty black smokey eyes? love

For $10 less ($20 instead of $30), Caramel would be the P.I.M.P. of nude glosses. If you like the look, she might make a nice splurge. Available at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Speaking of nudes, happy hump day! :)

Can you think of any cheaper dupes? I know it’s just a nude… but it looks really nice!

  3. Saku says:

O that look so good. But so much.

  4. Laura says:

Yeah, that seems like too much to pay for a lip gloss. I’ve been enjoying the formula of the Estee Lauder Pure Color gloss for $10 less. It’s also less sticky than MAC, but the color selection is not as extensive.

  5. Kelly says:

Looks gorgeous in the tube but a little too sheer for me.

The font though in your first pic is TDF!

  6. I’ve seen a really pretty one in The Body Shop (sorry I can’t recall the number) and also Barry M sells a good dupe (that tastes amazing, like caramel) for much cheaper prices

    WANT.THIS.NOW.

I am pretty sensitive to certain glosses/brands so I’m a bit apprehensive on buying since Saks doesn’t have a great cosmetic return policy like Nordstrom or Macy’s.

even i, self confessed hater of nude lipgloss, am tempted by this… but for something that im actually a self confessed hater of, its quite expensive… :P did that actually make sense?

  9. Trisha says:

Hmm… I don’t know if I like how the colored settled into the lip lines. Although you are SO right about layering it over nude lipstick with a dark smoky eye. That sounds awesome right about now.

Holy smokes.. $30 for a lip gloss? I don’t know why this is such a surprise for me but… $30!?!

  13. Lily says:

although I’m not surprised that it’s 30 dollars….they should’ve put some real gold specs in it for it to be worth that much Lol. It does look really nice though :)

This gloss looks too sheer for my tastes but I agree it would look good layered on top of a nude liner. Still $30 for a gloss is crazy!

This isn’t carmel flavored? WHAT? That just seems wrong! It’s a bit too pricey for me. I like my glosses under $22 unless it has that something extra!

I love this color… not the price though. In order for me to spend that much it better be off the chain!

  19. Jeanie says:

Not surprising that D&G is charging that much for it. Love the color but the only way I’d pay that much for a lipgloss is if I didn’t have to reapply it all day.

This would look great over MAC’s High Tea, Freckletone or Rubia but it’s a bit too pricey.
