Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise…
Wait — no they’re not. This isn’t a voyage. It’s actually a review of the new MAC Nebula Pigment ($20). I guess I just had a random Trekkie moment, like that time at the gym back before I’d met El Hub. I was running on the treadmill when a cute boy climbed up on the one next to me, turned my way and said, “Hi.”
My witty response: “Live long and prosper.”
Oh, yeah. It was smooth… 🙂
Seriously, though, I might not have had game, but I did know a lot about Star Trek.
Of course, something tells me that neither MAC nor Daphne Guinness were channelling Starfleet when they dreamed up this particular loose eyeshadow, even though I can picture makeup-loving cadets reaching for it faster than you can say, “Prepare for warp speed.”
So far, my warm skin tone and I haven’t fallen for many of the cool-toned colors we’ve tried from Daphne Guinness for MAC, but shimmery grayish brown Nebula toes the line between cool and neutral in a way that makes it mighty wearable for both warm- and cool-toned babes.
Plus, it’s called Nebula, and how cool is that? I was starstruck the first time I saw the color twinkling back and forth between gray and brown.
Nebula reminds me of a longtime MAC favorite of mine, Club, except without the teal and blue. Yes, the formula is loose and messy, and it’s only a matter of time before I spill it on the carpet, but I do love how complex and smokey it appears.
In these pics, I’m wearing it by itself all over my lids and along my lower lash lines. Just a very simple smokey look.
I also tried something a bit more dramatic with it, adding a dark gray liner along the water line, and liked the way it turned out. If you decide to give that a try, I recommend Laura Mercier’s Kohl Eye Pencil in Stormy Grey, a gunmetal gray that flashes a subtle blue from some angles.
Die-hard MAC Club fans and ladies looking for a new wearable smokey shade, check out Nebula when it beams down early next week.
PRICE: $20
AVAILABILITY: Coming soon to North American MAC counters and stores and online December 26; internationally in January

Ooh I like it! I too love club but sometimes I wish it didn’t have the blue in it so this is just what I have been wanting!

I’m not a loose shadow kind of gal but how can I resist the trekkie references? 🙂 Funnily enough I just caught an ep of American Pickers with William Shatner. It was pretty cool, but your smokey eye is cooler. HAHA!

This is a really great product offered by MAC. But Avon True Color Quad can achieve the smoky eyes look without the expensive price. In fact, it is just $5, this is over a 50% savings. Great for if you want to look great on a budget.

I wrote a university essay about the rights of First Nations people for self government, with supporting material from Star Trek. Oh yes, I quoted the Prime Directive and three episodes from three different series. The essay was concluded with the statement to live long and prosper.
Dispite the fact that my teacher was unimpressed by my creativity I think it was a brilliant essay. His only comment was “The essay would have been better without the Star Wars material.” STAR WARS material??? Excuse me! I’ve gone on for the last four pages about STAR TREK thank you for paying attention. You know, Captains Picard, Kirk and Sisko? Not. About. The. Force. I’m going to do a Picard Face Palm now.

Hey, I was wondering what is the best brush to use with mac pigments.. I haven’t used loose powder eyeshadow before, so any tips? Does they have fallout or do they stay on okay. Thank you!
Live Long & Prosper! 😀

My Nebula is to be delivered tomorrow!
I’m expecting to love it; neutral shadows like that typically do veddy nice things for my bright green eyes.
I just hope I can stop at only one jar …
