Calling Reno dry is like calling Chanel expensive: kinda obvious. Heck, it’s not just dry; the air literally repels moisture! — as if it hates the stuff.
One of the things I did to stay cool and keep my skin from cracking was turn to Clinique’s Moisture Surge Face Spray ($20), which I must have spritzed on myself at least a hundred times (every time I took a break from Kitty Glitter).
It’s an oil-free moisturizing face spray with a faint, almost undetectable licorice scent, and it’s part of Clinique’s famed Moisture Surge line. Designed to soothe and satisfy parched skin, it can be used in conjunction with other facial moisturizers, too, either beneath or atop makeup (spray from about a foot away to keep from disturbing your handiwork), as often as needed.
I’m prone to dry skin (normally combination dry/oily) and can suffer from taught, tight, uncomfortable skin even in humid conditions, but things would have been A LOT worse in the Reno desert if it hadn’t been for Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

I like it too! Sometimes I use it as a face mask when my skin’s feeling extra tight.

I never tried this product from Clinique, sounds like a good product Karen. My face is oily, so I am very careful to pick products for my face, wonder if this one would work.

Just an FYI- this stuff is VERY similar- almost identical- to MAC Fix+ (which is $19 for 3.4oz.) So it’s a good option to get a little more for your money (Clinique’s ends up being almost $1 per ounce cheaper.)
In fact, both products are basically spray-on toners- take a peek at those on your drug store shelves & you’re likely to find similar ingredients at a much lower price. Empty it into your own spray bottle & spend that money on some other goodie!

Woohoo, happy Friday!!

Hm, if you’re sick of the dry heat, I’ll gladly switch places with you. It’s 91 with 61% humidity here. I LOVE dry heat, hate this crappy humid heat!
I need that face spray for the winter. It gets sooooo dry with the bitter windchill here!
I don’t really think I can consider this Friday TGIF. It’s my last Friday of Freedom. I start school on Monday. Icky, icky, icky!

I’m with you, my skin is the same! I’ve been using Skindinavia’s No More Shine spray – FINALLY my makeup doesn’t move and I’m less oily! 🙂

TGIF!!! I haven’t tried this Clinique spray, but I do love MAC Fix+ and the Evian Spray. I can’t believe you were in Reno this week, it must have been like 100+ degrees there!!

The Moisture Surge line is awesome. This will be a great help during the HOT Texas summers!

I’ve tried this Clinique spray before and it made my face burn. As in it hurt! I still haven’t figured out why. But then again, Clinique toners have the same effect on me so must be something that they put in it. I tried an Aveda one in a plane somewhere and it didn’t hurt but in the end I found it more convenient to just carry a really tiny Evian spray bottle in my purse. Of course, one could argue, a tiny spray bottle with tap water will probably do the exact same thing…

For the last 10 years or so, The BF, and another couple and I have gone to Reno. The guys go to a convention and we girls do what we do best—SHOP! Wish I would have known about this sooner, b/c my skin does not like the desert! I will make sure to pack some next time. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve been using this spray for nearly 2 years, and I love it!
I have oily skin, but it does a very good work as a light moisture-capture, and when my skin is more moisturized, it’s less likely to become oily and shiney.
So girls with oily but dehidrated skin, don’t be afraid!
Also, as some commenters said, it’s nearly similar as MAC’s fix+, and it really does wonders to the makeup! 🙂

How would you compare it to Fix+? I am a fiend when it comes to using it. During the summer when it was hot in the Valley, I carried it in my purse and I also carry it when I travel.

I love the Moisture Surge range too. I use the Thirst Relief Gel in the planes and also in dry conditions, and not only it keeps my skin hydrated but also brighter when used overnight. And the Eye Masks also helped keep my eye area hydrated and fine lines at bay.
Will try the Face Spray next time when I run out of my Hada Labo Moisturizing Mist.
