What’s a Chanel lip gloss lover to do when she still feels a throbbing hole in her heart where the Aqualumiere Glosses once lived?
The lightweight, shiny Aqualumieres have been gone for years, and yet I still shed sparkly tears whenever I think about them…
Oh, the sweet, sweet misery!
R.I.P., Candy Glow. *sniffs*
Next time I get all emo for an Aqualumiere and feel the urge to pour a 40 on the ground (or in my case 6 ounces of chai latte), I’ll just grab one of these new splurge-worthy Gloss D’Enfer Maxi Shines from Guerlain.
For a polished chrome shine a mirror would envy, just whip out the flat flocked applicator (ergonomically shaped for easier application), and slick your lips with one of 20 available shades, which vary from shy girl quiet sheerness to HAAAY BOO! — we’re going full-on drag-caliber opacity tonight.
What’s more, these glosses look and feel exactly like the Aqualumieres!
Well, darned near. Same crystal ball-like finish, same smooth, non-sticky texture, lightweight formula and two-hour wear time.
Heck, they could almost pass for identical makeup twins.
Almost.
Guerlain’s Maxi Shines do have a rosy scent and flavor the Aqualumieres didn’t have, but I like it. It’s not overpowering. I think it’s quite elegant, in fact.
The only thing I’d change about these is the $30 price.
Sure, these aren’t life necessities, and one could probably find more affordable dupes at the drugstore, but sometimes, ya know, a girl’s just gotta splurge on gloss.
At least this girl does. These Maxi Shines are like PMS magic wands! I wave one around, and just like that — the crankiness goes away…
PRICE: $30 for a 0.25-ounce tube
AVAILABILITY: Available now in Guerlain’s permanent line at select counters in Saks Fifth Avenue, Mordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores (coming soon to sites online)

Tonight on Font Talk…
So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about fonts (even more than usual), like which font I’d use if I ever got a tattoo of a quote.
Yep, these are the days of my life…
I’d seriously consider that Guerlain font, but only for a short quote of one to three words.
I think longer than that would start to look fussy…
As for which fonts I do not plan to use: Comic Sans (obvs), Scriptina, Curlz and Papyrus.
And then there’s the quote… There are so many great things people have written or said! I like collecting them in my quote journal, but I’ve yet to find one I’d actually consider permanently etching into my skin.
If that ever changes, I’ll let you know, ’cause it would have to be an EPIC quote.
Hope you had a good day and that something nice happened. 🙂
Question for you: is it Friday yet?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I have to say that the price doesn’t bother me as much as applying something named Browny Clap to my face. I think Guerlain needs to start proofreading their names. Their is nothing glamorous about STD’s, but, here we are. Being offered the Browny Clap. Let me paint you a picture of my Mum giving me a compliment on my makeup. Then, she asks what is that lippie called? UM, Mum, Browny Clap? Mum drops on the floor from shock. Then, I have to explain to her that I paid $30 bucks for it.

Michelle Texixeira,
Hahahahaaa It never dawned on me about the clap & STD until you mentioned it. OMG what in the world is Guerlain thinking? I know rich, old ladies who wear Guerlain. Then again, they might not make the connection. lol
I was speaking with Jordan Liberty about his new false lash line. He literally has lists of wonderful, funny, edgy names for future lashes. I hope he does a men’s lash line and names one “Lady Boy”. I wouldn’t mind owning “Cat Fight” lashes. Some potential names would ruffle feathers. However, I told him that people who would be offended wouldn’t be his target market anyhow. They’re most likely not going to be faking it with false lashes anytime soon.

Have to say I agree with Michelle 🙂

Beautyful shades and funny onomatopoeia names. You have to listen the Serge Gainsbourg’s song “Comic street” and watch the vidéo with BB 😉

I looooove these, especially the more pigmented ones! I very seldom layer a gloss over a lipstick, so fairly pigmented ones are more versatile in my book. Red Pow, Tangeine Vlam, and Rouge Schebam are definitely on my to-check-out list!

These do look gorgeous. Speaking of fronts, I am also often curious about the front I’d choose for a tattoo. In fact, I have been thinking a lot about that lately. May get a new one, if I don’t change my mind)

These look beautiful, but I’m still not a lipgloss person. However, there are a couple that are calling my name.

I love quote tattoos :3. I have “This Too Shall Pass” written in simple Irish-style script on my upper back, I found that cursive would’ve looked too stuffy :/

I’m in love with everything Guerlain right now. The new glosses are to die for! I was so impressed with the nice pigment and the weartime. You look so great with a high bun btw! ^^

I have ” Red Pow ” and I love both the colour and the texture. Not sticky at all and easy to apply. I don’t know if I’ll purchase some more as I bought 3 Dior glosses 🙂 very good too, but Guerlain glosses and nail polishes are really pretty !

Dear Karen,
do you know anything that can fill a broken heart of a girl
who’s still mourning after Dior’s Creme de Gloss
it’s been almost a decade….
and I still can’t find anything that would compare to those lost treasures

La Petite Robe Noir is my favourite out of all the colours.
Really like your outfit in this post. I like how the earrings go together with the top. Cheers.
