That pink shadow trying to steal the spotlight in Guerlain’s new Crazy Paris Eye Palette? — yep, I’m a believer. It’s surprisingly wearable.
That’s one of the things I think Guerlain does really well — make eye-catching colors wearable. They can take kinda kooky, crazy eye colors and transform them into colors I actually feel comfortable wearing around town.
It’s a rare form of makeup magic.
The re-opening of Guerlain’s flagship boutique at 68 Champs-Élysées in the dazzling City of Lights inspired the $86 Crazy Paris Eye Palette and the rest of the 10-piece Crazy Paris Holiday collection.
I won’t claim to understand how they do it (because it’s obviously magic), but in the case of the pink shadow here, one of four shimmery shadows in the palette, they dialed down the opacity a bit, leaving just enough pigment to maintain its power, but not so much that it overwhelms.
And then there’s the bodacious, buttery blending. I barely have to flick my wrist, and the pink practically melts into the other eyeshadows — a shimmery copper, shimmery golden beige, and shimmery white gold.
One word: wow.
Be sure to tap off your brush first, though, as I’ve observed some minor fallout (a little annoying, considering the price)…
In addition to the shadows, the kit contains two wet/dry powder eyeliners in matte black and matte grayish taupe and, yup, they’re just as buttery.
Guerlain created the Crazy Paris Palette (I keep wanting to type “Crazy Pants,” haha!), which they envisioned as a complete eye kit, with flexibility in mind. It’s designed it to go from office party to a night on the town, and I can totally see myself dressing it up or down, depending on its use.
If only it came with a matte brown (for popping into the crease) to add depth and to contrast with the shimmers, but that’s just my wishful thinking/personal preference…
If you’re all about full-time, full-on shimmer, you should be good to go.
Guerlain is one of the more expensive makeup lines, and Crazy Paris is a downright splurge, but I do believe you get a luxurious dose of easy-to-blend, surprisingly wearable shadows and liners for the price.
Nothing here seems wasted — not even the pink. But for $86, uh…that’s expected.
PRICE: $86 (WOW!)

I really like the bronzer of the collection. This look is very flattering on you. However that orangey colour is just way too warm for me.
Emae Santos says
It really looks good on you, K! But that price – dang! No thanks. LOL

While the palette doesn’t necessarily speak to me, a lot of other items in this collections do! The lipsticks, the nail polishes, the bronzer… Need I go on? 😉 You wear the pink well, Karen! I am really skittish about putting pink on my eyes. I always mix it with another shade in the palette so it doesn’t look that pink anymore.

love the way you’ve done the eyes Karen! it’s so hard for me to carry a pink eyeshadow but you did it so well! <3

I have my eyes set on the lipstick, meteorites and bronzer for this collection.

You make this work Karen! I wish it had a brown instead of the grey shade!

Very pretty! Kind of reminds me of my Urban Decay’s Rollergirl palette; just swap out the brown and the black (which I have plenty of at home)!
Still, I’m tempted…

The palette is great (as is the whole collection). I love that pop of pink in there! It’s nice to see pink instead of a plum or deep blue – makes this palette more unique.

Palette aside — your new hair is so pretty, Karen. I just can’t stop looking at it! It kind of makes me want to go colour my hair, too, despite the fact that I haven’t dyed in in years. 🙂

This palette is so tempting! I love the look you did with it, it’s gorgeous!

You did a pretty eye look with this palette. But two of the shades look similar on your swatches, golden beige and white gold. For that price tag it needs to be totally unique. Loving the purple nail polish, lipsticks and meteorites though! Your hair looks great Karen.

p.s. kind of reminds me a little of a warm version of UD Roller Girl.

And that hairdo looks so good on you. You look like a model in a hair commercial.

Wow Karen, you look AMAZING! I wouldn’t have given this a second glance in the pan but the look you’ve created is so wearable! The copper colour is my favourite, might have to add this to my wish list! 😉

OMG, why would you do this to me? As if I’m not enough of a sucker for pink and orange, paired together! This looks amazing on you. The whole collection seems more summery to me but I like it!

i love how you did ur makeup in these fotos, u are so creative with the eye shadow as usual, i can never figure out what to do with shadow apart from one color all over the lid which is a real shame because i have so many!
can u tell us a little bit about how u applied the eye shadow?

You look amazing! That eye look is lovely, but your hair is stunning! I’ve been planning to change up my hair a bit and now I know what I want thanks to you 🙂
