The “crazy” in Guerlain’s latest limited edition expedition, Crazy Paris, really seems to come through in the lipsticks and nail polishes, and to that I say, HAWT DAMN, PEOPLE! Bring on the crazy!
Crazy 68 Rouge G de Guerlain in 863 Provocative ($49.50)
With its crazy long name, Crazy 68 Rouge G de Guerlain in 863 Provocative is 50 cents shy of 50 bucks, and that hurts, but if you’ve fallen in love with the idea of this creamy opaque hot pink but aren’t ready to throw down $49.50 for it, perhaps MAC Impassioned could (at least temporarily) quell that urge.
Buuuuut if you are ready to trade in that Camry for a BMW, Guerlain’s Rouge Gs are like the luxury cars of the lipstick world…and if that makes any sense at all (it doesn’t), 863 is the model that makes your boy toy jealous. We’re talking moonroof, heated leather seats and satellite navigation.
Crazy 68 Rouge Automatique in 660 Illusion ($35)
Illusion’s sheer, sparkling plum has a smooth texture and a forgiving (particularly on mature lips) sheen finish. Plus, it plays well with others, as in skin tones ranging from light to dark.
La Laque Couleur in 861 Sulfurous ($23)
Ooh! — remember Bobbi Brown’s Black Pearl from last fall? Sulfurous is a little like that, but a few shades lighter, and with more purply taupe and less black.
Like (oh, here we go), if Black Pearl went through an anger management course and emerged markedly calmer but still ready to cut you at a moment’s notice, it would be just like Sulfurous.
I like it. 🙂
Ultraviolet Top Coat ($23)
This glossy polish’s claim to fame is that it turns fluorescent under ultraviolet light.
Now, if this were 1998, I’d easily be able to test that at any house party (just find the one room in the house with the black light and the people eating the “special” brownies), but in this day and age? I guess I’ll just have to wait until someone I know tries it and reports back…hint, hint.
I can, however, confirm that Ultraviolet does give nails a faint blue tint, which is hard to see in these pics (but it is more obvious in person).
The Crazy Paris collection is available now at Guerlain counters in Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Sephora, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Neiman Marucs stores (and coming soon online).
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Pretty collection, isn’t it? 🙂

Illusion is a great fall color!
Charisma says
I’m skipping provocative because I’m into dark plums and rich wine colored lips for the holidays. But illusion is gorg!

I love that Sulfurous nail color.
K says
Gorgeous! Do you mind sharing what color(s) you wearing on your eyes?

Love the lipstick, that bronzer and the nail colour. I really seriously hate rouge G packaging though. It actually stops me from buying too many Guerlain lipsticks. It’s not luxurious, it’s dumb. Streamline and simplify the packaging and give us a lipstick that costs 10 euros less and that we can actually bear to carry around with us!

Such a pretty collection karen!! 🙂

Love the shades, not so much the LE packaging!

I can’t help it but I’m not loving the packaging this time. Something about it looks a bit too cheap? The products itself are another story tho, I am loving all those pinks!
Danielle says
Sulfurous is gorgeous! Definitely my type of shade.
Rachel says
Such pretty colors and packaging! I’ve never tried this brand before!
Kim says
Oh, I love the lip packaging! I also think the idea of the black light polish is awesome (even though I seem to recall it’s been done before). Ahh, 1998. Good times. 🙂
Eesha says
Oh My … the whole collection is so damn amazing, black & pink packaging and that Provocative shade is so damn gorgeous!
The Beauty Glow says
OMG love the entire thing but especially the nail polish!
Denise S says
That lipstick is very pretty but too dupable for $50 bucks a tube. Wanted the nail polish to be more purple, not feeing this holiday collection much.

I always love your sense of humor Karen, it makes the review fun in your own ways.
