This was the mascara I was wearing when I was watched The Walking Dead mid-season finale last Sunday, and by the time the show finished, I’d already been wearing it, oh, 8-9 hours.
By that point, I knew I liked how tightly it held and lifted my curled lashes and how well it separated and defined (I did want a little more volumizing/thickness, though), but honestly, I was not expecting to also test it for waterproof-ness that day.
Enter The Walking Dead mid-season finale…
If two coats of this stuff can withstand an unexpected 15-minute fit of crying without any smearing, running or flaking whatsoever, then it’s alright by me, even if the three-sphere brush takes some getting used to.
Let me put it this way: the first time I took Noir Couture to my lash lines, I ended up leaving big-honkin’ flecks of mascara on my lids and beneath my eyes.
I think it was partly due to how accustomed I’ve become to haphazardly throwing on a couple coats of Be Long Mascara by Clarins, which I’ve been wearing a lot lately, without having to really think about it.
Muscle memory — you know how it is.
Eventually, I figured out that I had to hold Noir’s sphere-studded brush at a funky angle to avoid bumping my skin. Given a couple weeks…it would probably become second nature.
And for the lazy-pants among us, removing this stuff requires some effort since it really clings to lashes. I have to bust out the big guns (an oil-based eye makeup remover) in addition to my regular cleanser, which is kind of a pain, but I guess that’s the tradeoff for this kind of resilience.
I bet this mascara could be a good fit for you if you like higher-end mascaras with a glossy finish, good length, separation and lift; and a tough-as-nails wherewithal to withstand water and tears.
I do like it…but it’s not the end-all, be-all solution to my waterproof mascara woes because I do crave more thickness. I’ll still reach for it every once in a while and be happy with the results, especially when I want a really lifted curl, which is one way it’s ca-ray-zaaaay good!
Highly recommended if you ever watch zombie shows that are unafraid to kill off beloved characters, or if you’re PMS-ing and apt to burst into tears at any moment. Or both. Which I may or may not have been when I was watching The Walking Dead.
SERIOUSLY, I think I might need therapy to recover from that episode… If you need to talk about it — because I do! — hit me up in the comments, and we can chat about the end of childhood innocence, the loss of the show’s moral compass, the futility of it all…and those frickin’ hungry-@ss walkers.
Humanity seriously needs a win here. I just can’t… *sniffs*

What are you wearing on your lips, it looks so lovely and natural!
UGH that episode though?? I only saw the ending (aka the horrible part) because I was planning to binge-watch it…was so not prepared to see them do that D: And Judith, ah! It needs to be February already, really. You know, that would be the best way to test long-wearing mascara proofs: put a bunch of beauty-obsessed girls to marathon TWD and see who smudges first, ha!
Karen says
Yeah, the shot with the empty, bloody car seat — that’s when I lost my sh*t. Part of me hopes that she’ll be alive (maybe somebody picked her up and ran?) but I doubt it. The writers are ruthless like that, you know?
WAHHHH! 🙁

Oh, and on my lips I’m wearing Dolce & Gabbana Gentle Monica Lipstick. Thanks for noticing! It’s one of my faves.

That lipstick looks SO LOVELY on you, Karen!
Karen says
Thanks Musical. Do you live near a D&G counter? You need to try it sometime. It’s like the PERFECT pinkish nude.
musical says
There is a D&G counter in my local Sephora, will check it out next time i am there :). It looks all kinds of amazing on you! I see a hint of coral too!
Is this shade from the Monica Bellucci collection?

OMG the Walking Dead mid-season finale had Mr all over the place!! I didn’t know whether to be angry or sad! I’m so anxious for it to come back on lol. The mascara looks nice though! I have super thick, short lashes so this mascara might give me the length I’ve been looking for! I’ll have to try to get a sample

Did you scream when Michonne stabbed the Governor? El Hub and I yelled and jumped off the couch!
Ivi says
Hi! I still can’t cope from Sunday’s episode. I still can’t believe it and I’m hoping it’s all a bad dream, deep inside, I think Hershel it is coming back … I’m glad someone feels are distress as me .
Karen says
I can’t either. Every time I think about it I get a knot in my stomach. 🙁 Hershel was the show’s moral compass! I am so heartbroken for the characters, and especially for his daughters.
Sara says
OH MY GOODNESS, The Walking Dead. *sobs*
Karen says
I KNOW!!! I don’t know if I’ll ever recover. 🙁 Do you think Daryl got bitten? Both El Hub and my bro believe that he might be the next to go.
Sara says
Eeek! I thought they were just teasing us with the zombie sneaking up on him, and then BAM! smash cut to someone else, trying to get us to think he’d be bitten…when we went back to him, he was using a pole to turn the zombie into a shield (oh, Daryl!), so I assumed he clocked the zombie in time. February can’t come fast enough! I’m hoping that (SPOILER ALERT!) baby J was spirited away by a living person, too, otherwise…there will be more crying and oreo-cookie-eating at chez moi.
Ivi says
oohhh I forgot about the baby too *more sobs* … I do not think Daryl got bitten .. lets just wait .. in the mean time, I will recuperate buy going to Sephora and use my $20 VIB reward card ..
Karen says
I can’t even handle it. I totally lost it when they showed the bloody, empty car seat, and I started rambling on and on about how there’s no hope in their world… must stress shop. LOL

I will be thinking about the finale until February. And, yes, I also screamed and jumped off the couch when Michonne stabbed the Governor (terrifying my cat in the process). I love Talking Dead, too, and love how the cast is like a big family and they all seem to care about each other. Chris Hardwick does an amazing job wrapping up the week.
Karen says
Ya know, I’ve never watched the after-show. Do I need to start?
BugsMom says
TWD was brutal. I am getting really annoyed with Rick – he’s inconsistent, and he seems like he is constantly having to be rescued (Michonne is the best). I felt like Lilly’s daughter getting bitten was stupid – how could she let her play so far away from her? Finally, I hope someone got Judith. I think the kids might have but I don’t know. Brutal. I felt stunned after watching it. That noted, I cannot wait for the next half the season. What a great show!
JudiC says
Yes, definitely! He is a good host because he is a fan. Every so often there a boring “guests” on, but not often. It really adds to the series.

Unfortunately I need length AND volume so this mascara wouldn’t suit my needs.
I screamed throughout the last 15 minutes of the show. Those were the most intense 15 minutes of TV (although Scandal could give it a run for the money). That said, what the heck is it with bad parenting during the zombie apocalypse? I admit that I busted out laughing when the Governor shot the little girl in the head, without hesitation. He’s so cold.
Erin says
I don’t think they would get rid of Darryl anytime soon. He is such a popular character that they would really piss off a lot of viewers. I was SHOCKED when the kids came out with guns and killed people! That was really an amazing look into how life would be so different from what we know in that type of situation. I personally think that kid killed the two sick people and Carol was covering for her, taking the blame so the girl wouldn’t get killed by Tyrese. Anyway, back to the mid-season finale, I cried like a baby several times over. It was heart breaking, and I can hardly wait until February. Where will they go? What will they do? Who all died? Oh good gravy. I need to know now!
Kim says
Hi! I haven’t deserted you – I swear. We’re back from vacation and I caught the m.s. finale of the Walking Dead, too. What a blood bath in the last few minutes. I’m so glad the Gov is gone and was getting very antsy as Rick was being choked out and Michonne was not yet coming to save him. I kept waiting to see her sword and was getting desperate! I keep trying to believe that Judith was saved, too. I don’t think the writers would be THAT cruel. I’ll miss Hershel but knew he was a goner as soon as he started to smile proudly at Rick’s speech. It’ll be interesting to see where the show goes in Feb. 🙂
Natasha says
Oh dear, oh dear! What a horrifyingly brilliant episode, poor Hershel tho 🙁
I think Tyresse has Judith, near the end you see him running away with something in his arms. I’m hoping it’s Judith anyway, she dies in the comic but in a totally different way. I doubt they’d be so cruel and if Daryl ever dies I’ll just refuse to watch it again.

That’s an interesting looking brush, it looks like the Elder Wand from Harry Potter lol

I am trying Defincils by Lancome. I don’t love it the way I hoped I would, for that price. But I think it does an okay job of lengthening, once you put on that second coat. Maybe you should use this one and then use another coat for volume.
