With his heat ray vision, Superman has eyes to kill.
Medusa has eyes to kill (well, turn you to stone, but that’s basically the same thing).
And now, with new Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Liners (called Ametista, Oro Oscuro, Perla Nera and Quarzo on the website), we mere mortals can also have eyes to kill.
Shiny eyes to kill, because when I wear these liquid liners on my lash lines, I feel like I have shine for days, yo!
But it’s an unusual shine…
Starting at the finish
“Muted metallic.” That’s how I describe the finish. Mind you, it’s not as frosty or shiny as some metallic or glitter liners, like the kind you might see at Urban Decay or MAC, some of which reflect so much light that you can look like you’re wearing a costume if you go too far with them.
There’s no mistaking these for matte — that’s for sure — but the shiny finish seems softer to me, more diffused and more elegant than the finish that a lot of other shiny liners have.
Not everyone is gonna get the distinction. Like, El Hub, adorable yet clueless dude that he is, he probably wouldn’t get it. “What’s the big whoop?” he’d say. “They just look shiny to me.”
Now, if you’re the kind of guy or gal who carries eight different black liners in your makeup bag and can quickly rattle off their names and differences, you’ll probably appreciate these and their muted metallic finish.
Easy-peasy application
As for the formula itself and the way these feel, one word: bomb. They’re sort of halfway between a liquid and a cream, almost like a watery gel, and it makes them easy to control, especially with the included, fine-tipped brush applicator. With it, I can easily draw skinny and thick lines with sharp edges in a single swipe.
Once on my lash lines, the formula fully sets in about 3-4 minutes (and then doesn’t move at all), which is enough time to play, like here, where I blurred out the edges on my lower lash lines for these pics.
Easily make a statement
For $34, these liners are kind of expensive, yeah, but I think they’re a great way to make a big statement with your eye makeup, without having to do a ton of shading and eyeshadow work.
One way I like to use these is by lining my upper and lower lash lines with one of them, and then adding a bit of a black liner on my water lines (usually, that’s MAC Smolder), before ending with a couple coats of mascara on my upper and lower lashes.
I might also wear a pair of big, sparkly statement earrings for more bling.
It’s a very chic look, and best of all, easy to knock out in a few minutes.
You can find the Eyes to Kill Liners in the Giorgio Armani Beauty fall collection. Peep them now at Armani counters and online.
PRICE: $34 each

Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation, but… Is there really THAT much of a difference between one brand’s “metallic” and another’s “muted metallic”?
That said, though, these ARE super pretty! 😀
Karen says
Hi, Rae. If you dig deep and embrace your inner makeup lover/lyricist while contemplating the products, then I think there is a significant difference, but yeah, if you’re really, really tired, then no. There’s not much difference.
LOL! Get some sleep, girl. 🙂

I love these! And your makeup looks gorgeous. Kinda pricey though and I’m trying to be more reasonable about my makeup purchases (read: save some money).

These are so pretty and is it bad that I’m actually thinking $34 isn’t bad b/c it will last forever?

This liner looks fab on you! But GA is dumbfounding me with all of these name changes. They did the same thing with the lipsticks. I *think* the lippy sheer you reviewed the other day called “Chestnut” is also “Jasper” aka #114. WHA? WHY???
Anyway, I’m not sure which one “Rose Iron” is. To make matters more confusing, on Bloomies & Nordstrom, they are numbered and have no names. Is Rose Iron labeled #2? Does it correspond to “Quarzo” on their website? To my knowledge there are only 4 that were released, but none of the swatches I’m seeing elsewhere (all 2 of them) is rose tinged.
By process of elim, Mercury Nude (aka #3) is the purplish one GA is calling Ametista, Acid Gold is a khaki/antique gold also known as #6 or “Morning” or “Oro Oscuro” (!!), “Perla Nera” (not shown here) is a greenish taupe also referred to as #4 or “Stars”. So that leaves “Quarzo” or #2, but the other swatches of this one describe it as a sort of white gold.
I’m lost. And I’m sure I’ve lost everyone else by now too. Anyway, looking good Karen!
