I have a theory that we’re going to lose our command of the English language someday because it’ll be completely replaced by the use of emojis, and when that day comes, if I’m still kickin’ and startin’ sh*t and bustin’ moves at the grown folks club, this is how I’d convey this review of the Giorgio Armani Beauty Runway Fall/Winter ’16 Limited Edition Collection:
Dude, this palette? It’s one hundred and twenty bones.
$120!
No, seriously.
OK, now, I’m down to make it rain sometimes (says the girl who just put the $80 Hourglass Surreal Light palette into her Sephora cart ???), but $120 for a compact with a transparent face powder and three eyeshadows??
That’s like an alternate universe-type price where diamond-studded grills are a valid form of retirement savings.
Granted, for that price you don’t just get a compact. You get an experience, because Armani wrapped the top of the compact with silk muslin, upon which is a print straight off an Armani runway.
And the satiny, mauve-ish, grayish beige; matte black and sparkling champagne eyeshadows, as well as the translucent face powder, feel almost like creamy pillows…
Good stuff, but it’s hella pricey. Probably made with ladies who lunch and also happen to love Armani Beauty in mind.
The Face & Eye Palette is joined by a $40 Eye Tint cream eyeshadow — a gorgeous khaki with a glossy finish and medium-sized bits of platinum glitter.
I like it because it’s sparkly and looks sooo luxurious on lids…
And then there’s a $40 mauve-ish beige Rouge d’Armani Lipstick, which I’ve yet to see in person, but all three pieces are limited edition and available now at Armani counters and online.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Lol! Omg…I don’t want to think how much it costs in Canadian dollars

This post cracked me up! I’ll be right that with you at that grown folks club. I ain’t one to mind making it rain, but mama can’t make it rain on a beer budget. Diamond-studded grills as a form of retirement savings might actually be a real thing. *shoulder shrugg* Really pretty collection, though. If I ever decide to sell the birthright of my first born (and I am childless), this will be the first thing I buy 🙂

BUT OMG THOSE COLORS ? And STILL with the sponge-tip applicators ?
Karen says
Seriously, the sponge tip applicators make me LOL. A few years ago Chanel had these makeup videos on their site where a model would appear to apply an entire look using just a sponge tip applicator and I would always think, “Yeah, right!”.
Florence says
It’s my favorite brand but the price…..it’s an exaggeration. The quality is the same as the traditional eyeshadows,so it’s not for me.Have a nice day.
Karen says
Hi Florence,
It’s one of my faves too. Their textures and finishes are amazing! The foundations are killer, too. Hope you’re having a good day. I’m so ready for Friday!

I. Can’t. Even. So pretty like the last two or three Armani Fall/Winter collections. All of them just too expensive for me. No way I can justify purchasing this.
Karen says
Everything they do is magic, ahhh! The Nordie’s near my house has an Armani counter and it’s one of my fave places to play.
Becky says
$120?!? WUT?! Crazy! I mean, beautiful… But crazy!!!!!
Kiss & Make-up says
EEK! This is just way too expensive…
Kelly B. says
Well this collection is absolutely stunning and oh-so tempting! If I have an extra $120 (that hurts a little) this holiday season, this palette is definitely finding a home on my vanity!
Chris25 says
The colors are nice, but that price tag would make me search for dupes.
Kim says
I’m so thankful that this palette isn’t speaking to me. 🙂 I have enough problems with Chanel-lust. I’m glad it hasn’t spread to Armani. HAHA!
Kim says
Sorry, I know the M in your blog is for makeup, not movies (or Netflix series) but, if you haven’t seen Stranger Things, I think you’d really like it. It was one of my favorite in recent memory.
Karen says
I marathoned it a few weeks ago! It’s good. Did you see in Entertainment Weekly that there’s going to be a second season!
Kim says
I did! I was very excited about that. 🙂 I just thought “toothless” was so adorable. Every time he was on the screen, I couldn’t help but smile.
Also, making me smile is planning our Hawaii trip because, gurl, I’m FINALLY going!!! We’ll probably have to eat Ramen for the next 6 months but it’ll be worth it!! 🙂
Agata says
These prices are crazy!!! But that Eye Tint looks gorgeous!
Karen says
The Eye Tint is beautiful! It sparkles and looks glossy on the lids.
Jessica says
$120 for that?
That is completely ridiculous.
Nope.
Erin says
I love Armani but too rich for me!
