My relationships with shorts and skirts just got infinitely better thanks to Guerlain’s Terracotta Jambes de Gazelle Bronzing Mist ($59).
Part of the 12-piece limited edition Guerlain Terracotta summer 2011 collection, this liquid bronzing spray mist gives a temporary tan to legs that washes off at the end of the day.
I haven’t spent much time out in the sun yet this summer, so my legs (and my upper thighs, especially) could use a little extra color. Lately, before heading out in a dress or skirt, I’ve been spraying Jambes de Gazelle on my calves and thighs.
I love the light kiss of caramel it gives to my legs. Even Tabs thinks it’s a very pretty golden brown…

There’s not much to say about how it’s applied. Just one or two spritzes, and then a minute to rub it in with my hands. The color reminds me more of dulce de leche than Snooki (more golden brown than orange). It doesn’t streak, lasts all day long and — this is nice — doesn’t get all over my clothing.
The cooling sensation it causes, and its light jasmine, orange scent, are some of its other sweet treats.
I wish it were a lot cheaper, but dayum if I don’t feel like my legs look longer and more toned when I have it on. If you feel like treating yourself to something summery and special, it might be worth the splurge.
PRICE: $59
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Guerlain counters (been hard to find online)

The bronzing gel looks pretty natural on you! And the bottle actually feels rather heavy and nice (unlike those with plastic bottles)…
P.S. Does Tab (look at those grape-like eyes!) get any more photogenic?

ordinarily, i would be all for something like this product. however — we have been spending days at the beach and i think im pretty tan at the moment.
i had a pedi done at my regular place last thursday and the gal who does my toes said – “omg your legs are so dark!”, then stares at the rest of me and says “oh wow, the rest of you is pretty dark too, you been going to the beach?” LOL!

I’ve been using Sally Hansen Airbush Legs every once in a while, and I’ve definitely been happy with the results! It’s drugstore cheap, otherwise I wouldn’t bother. It’s basically does for your legs what a tinted moisturizer dies for your face: it covers up minor flaws, evens skin tone, and gives me a light tan 🙂 its water resistant, doesnt smudge on my clothes (or bedsheets when i crash after a night out) but washes off with soap and water. It sprays on, then you gotta blend it fast! Now I do have a much lighter skin tone than you (think – ghost) and I use the “medium” color, but I think they have a range of colors. Might be worth checking out to save a pretty penny!

You’re looking good, Karen!

The gel is lovely on you! As a shorty (5’1″) I have been looking for a self-tanner to both elongate and bring some color to my pasty legs, though I’m a bit worried that this may be a bit too dark for me :/

Another fun trick is taking a subtle hilighter and running it vertically down the center of your legs, front and back, the vertical lines slim your legs and I think it makes me look taller! I think I heard it as a tip from the Victorias Secret fashion shows!

Bourjois came out with a similar product. It’s not a gel it’s a spray powder and has the same effect. If you spray it when you’re only wearing white, it’s so finely grained it won’t show up. It’s also $20 cheaper.

Now, this looks amazing on you! Do you have any idea what it would look like on a freakishly pale girl? (think NW10/NW15) I really could use the tan, but I fear I’d end up looking ridiculous.

Loved your picture…. Guerlain products are way too pricey.

hey karen, i think my skintone is almost the same with yours. do you use any kind of bronzer on your upper body and arms too? I’m thinking of buying a tanning lotion, but wonder if you can give me some advice on this.

I am allergic to self tanners, the ones that gradually tan you. So I’ve been using these tinting products for a long time. The Guerlain product sounds luxurious, and I’m sure I would love it, however, the price is a little to high. My all time favorite is Clinique for men, non-streak bronzer. About $13.00 for a 2 OZ tube. It’s a gel and a little goes a long way if you use a little water when you use it. I don’t know why they don’t make it for women and I usually have to buy it at Clinique.com because some stores don’t carry it.
