I was totally expecting to fall in love with these new limited edition $16 MAC Suntints because 1) I’ve been enjoying everything I’ve tried from the MAC Hey, Sailor! collection so far, and 2) I really liked last summer’s Suntints from the Surfbaby release, but the three new shades, well…
They just aren’t doing it for me.
Abalone
Sea Mist
Suntints SPF 20 Liquid Lip Balm from the left: Sea Mist, Au Rose and Abalone, $16
Suntints SPF 20 Liquid Lip Balm in Sea mist, Au Rose and Abalone; Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in Shore Leave and Throw Me a line!
Sea Mist (a pearly peachy nude), Abalone (a hot pink) and Au Rose (a pearly golden coral pink) do contain SPF 20 (always a plus!), and I like the non-sticky liquid texture and striped limited edition packaging, but all three seem less moisturizing than last year’s shades, and they leave my lips feeling a little dry and flaky.
They still might be worth a go for die-hard Suntint fans. I dig the colors… It’s just the formula I wish I could change.
PRICE: $16 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at maccosmetics.com and coming to North American MAC stores and counters May 2; internationally (outside of Asia), some time in May; in Asia, at select MAC locations this June
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B- (gorgeous, sheer, juicy color with SPF, but I find them somewhat drying)
Lights off!
Good morning and happy, happy Friday!
So…I was working in my office yesterday afternoon when the power suddenly went out.
It was still out an hour later when El Hub got home, so we decided to go out for dinner, because neither one of us wanted Chocolate Power Bars or bananas for dinner.
We got to talking about how it used to be when the power would go out back in the pre-Internet days… Back when it didn’t seem like such a big inconvenience. Sure, you couldn’t watch TV, but most people still had regular land-line phones, and those often did still work when the power went out.
The family would huddle around a table with candles and flashlights in the living room, chat, play boardgames, struggle to read books by candlelight, and it was actually kinda fun. Almost like camping.
Now, though, with always-on Internet connections and smart phones, it feels so different to be disconnected. Like yesterday, even with the Internet on my phone, I still felt cut off from the rest of the world.
Anywho, the power did come back on a little before 10, and the tweets resumed… I think Tabs was secretly disappointed, because he sure loves using his cool cat eyes in the dark.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

Aaahh that’s a pity! I really liked how Au Rose looked, but the store I went to didn’t receive the Suntints so I couldn’t buy any. In retrospect it wasn’t a bad thing…
Love Tabs’ spotlight eyes in the dark!

Hi Sunny,
LOL, isn’t that picture funny? Cat eyes are so cool!
Happy Friday!

I love the eye look you did! Sucks about the suntints, though. =/

Thanks, Jenn! I’m wearing stuff from Hey, Sailor. 🙂 If you want a list of the eye products let me know…

Oh so sad to hear about the formula of these. I love the shades, especially the pink ones, but yeah I really need some good moisture from a product like this. Tabs looks a bit scary there, love it!

Yeah…I guess I’ll pass. The Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shines for summer are so pretty AND moisturizing–so I guess I’ll just pick up a few more of those
Tracy says
Too bad these are drying. I was kind of thinking about getting one, but I think I will pass now.
You should see when the power goes out in a school! Most teachers use things like smart boards, their computers with a powerpoint, or maybe still an overhead to teach with. Can’t use any of those things when there’s no power!

LOL @ Thank you, my liege. 😀
Sad that these are drying! You wouldnt think it because the texture on the arm looks so soft and luscious!

I found them to be very sticky and tacky, so I don’t even know if they are moisturizing because I couldn’t keep it on my lips!
