Wearing the new MAC Taste Temptation Eye Shadow X 4 Quad, $40

Good news for half-asleep ladies who can barely muster a “Hrmph!” after crawling out of bed (hello, I’m there). The new MAC Taste Temptation Eye Shadow X 4 Quad ($40) makes morning makeup much easier on the brain.

The Taste Temptation quad is one of 16-pieces in the soon-to-be released MAC Taste Temptation collection, which graces Macy’s MAC counters (exclusively) for a Black Friday preview sale this Friday, November 23, from midnight to 4 a.m. But if you’d rather sleep during the witching hour (I completely understand), and you’re a U.S. shopper, the quad returns, online at maccosmetics.com, December 6, and then to stores December 23 through January 17.

The quad’s four sheer, cool-toned powder eyeshadows in shades of light violet, purple, blue and black appear dark in their pans, but quite sheer on my NC42 skin. The sheerness of these colors should make the quad a good candidate for hectic mornings when you’re rushing out the door.

One way to wear ‘em — just pat the light violet shade, Look at the Eyes, all over your lids before lining your lash lines with one of the three darker colors in the quad.

Shadows from the blue pan in the lower left: Naval (a navy blue veluxe pearl), Look at the Eyes (a light violet frost), Stay Sultry (a deep navy satin) and Carbon (an black matte)

Cute colors, but I was hoping for a little more drama from this quad… Big ups to MAC for taking risks and playing with different levels of pigment and intensity, but makeup fans expecting this quad to rain pigment down upon their lids might be disappointed.

Not that I have anything against sheer shades, mind you. I think they’re great, especially when I don’t have time for lots of intricate blending.

If you’re fond of cool color tones and eyeshadow finishes that don’t go overboard on shimmer, give Taste Temptation a try.

PRICE: $40
AVAILABILITY: Coming exclusively to Macy’s MAC counters November 23 from midnight to 4 a.m. (Black Friday); after Friday, U.S. shoppers can find it online at maccosmetics.com December 6, and then in stores December 23 through January 17.

    Your eyes look beautiful.

  2. I like it! I’m a sucker for purples and I appreciate that the swatches don’t look as intense as I’d expected. I think lighter colors look better on me anyways. Something about my eye shape just can’t carry really intense pigments

I actually like the quad – there is something about it thats wholly unexpected, really pretty and very promising!

Looks beautiful in the palette, but I’ll have to pass since I’m not into sheers. I’d rather get highly pigmented shadows and just do a wash if thats the look that I’m going for.

Your eyes look beautiful in purples!! What lip color are you wearing??

I kind of like the idea of a quad of sheer shadows as I find them muuuch easier to apply in winter when I end up getting ready for work pretty much in the dark in the mornings as we only have an ‘atmospheric’ dimmer lamp in our bedroom for lighting. I’ll probably check this quad out.
