“Nights in red satin…” Wait — is that how that song goes? I forget. 🙂
A true red with a satiny finish, L’Absolu Rouge in Caprice ($29), one of the five lipsticks in The Golden Hat Foundation color collection for Lancôme Holiday 2011, has that 1940s pin-up girl vibe, doesn’t it? — like the kind of red a hottie might have worn back then with winged liner, victory rolls and fishnet stockings?
Everything about this limited edition lippie says seduction to me, from the racy packaging — and I love how the magnetic cap clicks into place like the caps on Burberry’s lipsticks — to the way it feels like a stolen kiss on my lips.
“Lancôme is thrilled to announce its support of the Golden Hat Foundation, a non-profit created by beloved Ambassadress Kate Winslet to raise funds to better the lives of children living with autism. To support Kate Winslet’s inspiring philanthropic endeavor, Lancôme has worked with her to create a stunning holiday collection that brings to life the spirit and message of the charity.”
My dry lips love the moisturizing formula, which seems to last a good amount of time, but I wish I didn’t have to wear it with a lip liner. When I don’t, the color tends to bleed beyond my natural lip line within a couple of hours (probably has something to do with the super creamy texture).
Sirens with sensitive noses, be warned: the strong violet flavor and scent last for hours.
PRICE: $29

I have this color and love it! I’m the exact opposite of your coloring (a very fair skinned blonde) so truly I think this is a red for most people. I found that with moisturizing lipsticks you can stop any “bleeding” by lining the edge of your lips with a super thin line of concealer. And don’t put gloss on top!

It’s so beautiful! Hmm…needs a lipliner..do you have any suggestions for reds that don’t bleed but are creamy? My lips dry so fast, I prefer the more moisturizing lipsticks..

That looks like an awesome red! Moisturizing is definitely a plus, never mind that it needs some lip liner love. And it’s for a good cause, too! I guess I’ll just have to hold my nose when I wear it. 😉
PS. When you said song, the lyrics that actually came to mind was: The lady in red is dancing with me/cheek to cheek.. LOL! 😀

I KNEW this would look gorgeous on you. I want it even though I know it wouldn’t look half so good on me!

Am I being obsessive, or is anyone else bothered by the funky “t” in Kate’s signature on these items? It’s like her pen skipped or something. OK, yeah, I’m being obsessive…

I love a bold red lip. Not sure I would like the strong violet scent though.

Such a gorgeous red!

Love that the box says “Apply before sun exposure.” Makes it seem like a super healthy sunblock or something haha!
