Flirt Flowerific Fragrance: A Light Floral for Spring
Wed, 01/7/2009 by Karen | Posted in: Fragrance, Product Reviews

Doesn’t Flirt’s new perfume, Flowerific ($35, available at Kohls in February), look totally trippy? Look at those colorful posies! The whole thing makes me feel like I’m in some brightly lit, pyschedelic flower fantasy, LOL!
I was really expecting the scent to reflect the packaging, but Flowerific’s a surprisingly simple perfume — a light floral that starts off with a burst of honeysuckle and freesia before settling into a light water lily. Despite its lack of dimension, I think it’s a lovely fragrance that reminds me of sandals and floral dresses.

Each of the notes in the scent reveal themselves quickly, and, like early spring blossoms, Flowerific doesn’t last very long. I spritzed it on my wrist at breakfast, and by lunch it was mostly gone.
No problemo, though, because sometimes I prefer lighter scents, and I think Flowerific will totes work for me in the spring.
Flirt Flowerific Perfume Spray
Price: $35 for a 1.7-fl oz. bottle
Use: A simple and light floral fragrance
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+
If heavy perfumes tend to give you a headache and you’re sniffing around for something light and feminine, you might really like Flowerific. I’m guessing it would also wear well with most scented lotions and body washes, particularly those with similar notes, like Bath & Body Works Freesia and Dove Go Fresh in Water Lily. If you like those scents, you might enjoy Flowerific, too.
Still lovin’ ya, Big Red!

I’m a little bummed today because El Hub and I had to say g’bye to our little pickup truck, Big Red. Her engine conked out (210,000 miles), and we’re donating her to the American Cancer Foundation. Today we said our last goodbyes…
She was one of the reasons I fell in love with El Hub. There’s something hot about boys in trucks. On our very first date he dropped me off at home in Big Red, and as I was getting out everything in my purse spilled onto the seat.
El Hub just smiled kindly (he was trying to be smooth) while I picked up all 20 tubes of lipgloss (LOL!). That’s when El Hub oh-so-slyly said, “Don’t worry… if I find anything else I’ll just give it back to you the next time I see you.”
I know it’s a little silly to be pining over a car, but I have so many good memories connected to her. She will be missed!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

LOL that is a cute story about the truck.
I am not into flowery perfume, but at least we got to see Tabs
5. Stephie said, on January 7th, 2009:
you had me laughing out loud at 20 fallen glosses. HAHA. And I totally know what you mean about getting attached to cars. When my bf and I were still in high school he would drive me around in his family’s Honda Odyssey. Everyone would tease him bc of the USC MOM sticker on the back but seriously, everytime I see a Honda Odyssey I get a little excited
6. Shefali said, on January 7th, 2009:
Like Stephie, a busted my gut laughing out loud at “20 tubes of lipgloss.” LOLOLOLOL!!! I’m still ROTFL. I can just picture it (I’m very visual and create images in my head quickly when I hear stories). Props to El Hubs…he snagged you with his oh-so-sly ways!

“oppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp.;kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkolyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyycf” is what Luna has to say on the matter.

Aww lol that is too cute! My boyfriend was surprised when he saw my case full of make up, he said it showed him how creative I was (another smooth one). Guys are too cute sometimes.

Awwwww, such a sweet story Karen. My mum got teary when we got rid our our family car a few years ago too. All that lipgloss falling out is so you !! Haha

Aww, that story was so cute. And I totally agree, boys in trucks = HOT! :p
As for the perfume, the flowers are really amazing but the perfume itself doesn’t sound like something I’d wear.

ooh, that perfume does look cute! I’d love to try it. I wonder if I can get up here in Canada…
I soooo know how you feel about the truck! In November of 2007 I had an accident in my little Plymouth Neon. The accident wasn’t my fault, and no body got hurt, but my little car was written off. I’m still sad, and miss my car almost every single day. I have a truck now, and I love it too. But I miss my car a lot, and I just wish I could have her back!
I used to like boys in trucks too, but for me it was even more boys on streetbikes, as long as they had a big truck to back it up, those were my weakness
13. Jaime said, on January 8th, 2009:
That was a great story about the truck, Karen! I hope you took a picture of you guys in it before you donated it! I have to tell you, too, don’t feel bad about being sentimental about a vehicle. I had a truck for years, and just sold it a few months ago. My husband and I needed something bigger, with more seating space, (he has a truck too) so I got a car. I cried when I saw my truck being driven away by the guy we sold it to!!! So lame, I know. I had to share though.

No, I totally understand getting upset over a car. It’s been almost two years since I gave up my 13 year-old blue Ford Escort (with OVER 400,000 miles on it) and I still feel wistful. That car was the last big purchase my dad helped me pick out, so it reminded me of him every time I got into it. He passed away three years ago, so it was really hard for me to give it up.

Hi Dao,
It was a little embarrassing, LOL. I remember that most of the shades were MAC… for sure there had to be a tube of Nymphette up in there.

Hi Stephie,
LOL, awww! That’s so cute. It’s those crazy cars that always make memories, you know? How long have you guys been together?
20. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Shefali,
He did a great job of hiding any fear (what sane person carries around THAT MUCH lipgloss?), that’s for sure.
21. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:

Awww… tell Luna that Tabs sends her kitty kisses.
22. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Vanessa H.,
I keep trying but sometimes I swear those tubes of gloss are like rabbits! They multiply exponentially in my purse.
That’s so cute that your boyfriend said that… awww!
23. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Tiera,
Hello, hawt. He’s got to drive a truck. Can you see him in something like a Volkswagon Golf? LOLOLOL
24. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Anna,
Moms are so funny. My mum got teary when we got rid of our old ‘fridge from 70s (seriously, we had that thing for like 25 years).
25. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Ellery,
Right? Gotta love the rugged types, LOL.
26. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Briana,
I hope you can find it up there. Do you guys have Kohls and the Flirt line?
Oh — I agree with you on the streetbikes thing!
27. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Jaime,
That’s not lame at all! It’s so hard to say goodbye, especially when you can remember all of the good times, you know?
I’m sure your truck is making good memories with its new family
28. Karen said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Kelly,
Oh, girl. I bet that was hard. Glad to know I’m not the only one out there with car attachment sadness…
29. Chris said, on January 8th, 2009:
I can relate to that! We donated my old, well used and loved BMW to KQUED last Fall. I couldn’t even be home when they came to pick it up. So sad and so many memories (and MILES and REPAIR BILLS – that’s why we did it).
So we project a bit of ourselves onto our cars – so what!
Hang in there – maybe you should invest in a Big Red Memorial lipstick – that is an awesome shade.
30. Stephie said, on January 8th, 2009:
Hi Karen,
Yeah, nice to know I’m not that wierd for getting attatched. We’ve been together for like 3 years. Geez, that sounds long. But since we go to separate colleges it seems like less, haha.
31. Briana said, on January 8th, 2009:
No I’m pretty sure Kohls is an American brand. Too bad though, I wonder if they would ship to Canada.
32. Luv J said, on January 8th, 2009:

33. Barbara said, on January 8th, 2009:
Not silly at all! I feel really connected to my car:) He´s red too, very old peugot 205, i love my car and I loved your story!
34. Lucky said, on January 9th, 2009:
Seems like a nice everyday perfume…I’ve been looking for a simple one but maybe not as flowery
And I love that story, I’d feel sad too watching a car with a name as legendary “Big Red” get toted away, too! Wouldn’t it be funny if there were still a lip gloss or two under the passenger seat?

awww, I’m sure big red knows he will be missed
I would feel sentimental about it too, especially since you guys have had it your entire relationship!
38. Kelly said, on January 9th, 2009:
Yes, Karen, it was rough to give up my Escort. Someone in my neighborhood still drives one exactly like it and I used to tear-up everytime I saw it; now I just see it as one way for my Dad to say “hi” or let me know he’s there watching over me. It always seems to show up when I’m thinking about him.
39. Rowena said, on January 9th, 2009:
Oh, you can definately miss a car – I guess with your truck, it’s got memories with you and the hubbie so its bound to be sentimental. I loved my car too, then…well, someone stole it. D’oh!

Karen, you´re not the only one pining over a car.
I was nearly crying when I had to leave my first car at the dealership. I felt like a traitor driving away in the new one…stupid, but I loved the “little guy”….
41. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:
Hi Chris,
Oh good idea! It would have to be a shade of red plum with shimmer, just like Big Red.
42. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:
Hi Stephie,
Three years is a long time… that’s great! Sounds like you two are very much in love.
Do you guys get to see each other often even though you go to different schools?
43. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:
Hi Briana,
Ahh, I just checked the website and they don’t ship internationally, boo. Do you have any relatives or friends here that could perhaps mail it to you?
I hate it when I find stuff when I’m traveling that’s really fantastic that isn’t sold in the US. I am *still* pining over a Garnier Body Cocoon lotion I bought in the UK years ago. I swear when it ran out I cried, LOL.

Hi Barbara,
Aww, I like that your car is a “boy.” Does he have a name?
I drove a red Honda Civic for years. I named him “Claude.”
46. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:
Hi Lucky,
Honestly I would not be surprised if they found a sh*tload of makeup, LOL. A few years back El Hub came home with a Nars blush and a pan of MAC Trax that had been MIA … turns out it they were both hiding underneath Big Red’s passenger seat.
47. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:
Hi Zaja Natural,
Yeah, it was like the one time he was smooth, LOL!
I guess it worked.
48. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:

I honestly thought that car was going to teach our babies how to drive!
I miss her!

That is so sweet. I hope that you get to see that car often… that way you are your dad can say “hi” to each other all the time.

Hi Rowena,
Oh no! Bummer! Did you ever hear what happened to it?
My old Honda got stolen right out of my parents’ driveway! They found it a few months later. It was trashed and had a ton of graffiti on the hood. My dad has friends that work as mechanics so now old Claude is up and running once more (sans gang graffiti).
51. Karen said, on January 9th, 2009:

I know how you feel. We decided to give away my trusty, Goldie, a Gold Chevy Cavalier to a charity because we were moving from the Northeast to the Midwest. I had that car after college up until 2005. Even though hubby and I had a new, fancier car, I loved that car. I planned on giving the car to our offspring (s). But since we got our other fancy vehicle, I rarely think about Goldie. lol
