The words “contouring” and “easy” don’t usually fit into the same sentence for me, but I think it is possible to have them both with this particular popular palette: the Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette ($40).
Most contouring palettes have a LOT going on, but this one has such a logical, simple layout. It only has four pans, but it always comes in handy, no matter if I feel like wearing a little makeup or a lot. Contouring has never been a part of my daily makeup routine, but I’m surprised by how quickly I’ve grown to like using this palette!
Breakdown of the colors
The colors are spot-on for my light warm skin tone — not too cool and not too warm — and Medium Mocha is my favorite one. But I also like Deep Mocha for a more dramatic sculpt.
I feel like Cocoa Glow is the only loser in the palette, partly because of the large size of the glitter. Plus, the level of sheen is only “so-so.”
The matte highlight shade, Cocoa Butter, is a nice yellow powder that I use to set my entire face, but on my skin, it doesn’t highlight as much as it smooths and blends the edges of the contour.
(I love having a setting powder that smells like chocolate! And yes, I am very aware of how lame that sounds.)
As a contour palette, this one’s almost perfect, Too Faced. So close!
You can pick up the $40 Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette at Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s, and TooFaced.com! It currently only comes in Medium-Deep.
See you in the next,
Anna

Agata says
It looks beautiful on you. I’d think the shades are too dark for a lighter skin tone but I was wrong. I will def check this palette out!
Anna Oh says
Hi Agata! My swatches are done with using a heavy hand–but the pans are more tightly pressed so you don’t have a TON of product getting in your brush as well. So i think it IS possible for a paler skin tone to use 🙂

It looks perfect on you.

I saw this over the weekend and was contemplating on getting this! I was contemplating on whether to get this or the Marc Jacobs, Smash box, or Anastasia one. Which one do you, fellow bloggers, and fellow readers out there recommend? This is for everyday working contour and special events. Thanks!
Anna Oh says
The Smashbox one is SO handy, I love that it’s more precise and doesn’t come in a huge palette. But I could never get over the price tag for the amount!
The Too Faced one is a happy medium–lots of room to play with the depth. The highlighters are not AS useful, but I have a drawer full of highlighters to pick from that I’d much rather wear anyways!
I haven’t tried the MJ or Anastasia! (Anastasia was too big for my taste! Too many options!)
Erin says
Too dark for me but it really works on you.

I love the original Too Faced Chocolate Soleil as a bronzer and contour shade for my NC30/35 skin tone. So, I’m interested to see how Medium Mocha and Deep Mocha compares. From your hand swatch, it looks like the shades in the palette looks warmer than Too Faced Chocolate Soleil?
Anna Oh says
Hey Joyce! The Deep Mocha is the coolest color overall. I like Medium Mocha because it is more natural looking–but still on the cooler end. It’s difficult to swatch for photos, but try it out in a store some time!
I find the Chocolate Soleil to be neutral in the perfect sense of the word. Sometimes it looks yellow compared to my reddish bronzers.

Wish they had a darker version of this. Looks good on you but too light for my complexion.
Anna Oh says
I wish they did too, Denise. That’s the hard part about these contour “palettes”

Love your lip color- it goes perfectly with this look! What are you wearing?
Anna Oh says
Thank you! Oops sorry forgot to mention it is Too Faced La Matte Lipstick in “Sorry, not Sorry:
Karen says
So pretty on you, Anna! The finishes on the two contouring shades look interesting. Are they more of a satin rather than a matte finish?
Anna Oh says
Thanks Karen! I think they are matte, but NOT flat. They feel really creamy as well, not going to lie I LOVED swatching them.
Lauren says
Ohhh you look gorgeous and as a struggling wanna be contourist, this looks amazing! I’ll be purchasing this! LOVE your lip color! Is it just the MUFE liner?
Lauren says
Oops…just realized the MUFE liner is your eyeliner! I adore your lip color!
