Stick-to-itiveness. That’s what I don’t have when it comes to a lot of beauty products.
OK, I TRY A LOT OF BEAUTY PRODUCTS, ALRIGHT!? And it’s rare when I stick with one thing long enough to finish it, but that’s what I did with this sunscreen by Murad. It’s called Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++, and it carried me through completely different climates and seasons. I started wearing it in the summer when we were having hella 90-degree days, then wore it through the fall and well into winter.
And back when it was still warm here, I was spending a lot of time outside — lots of walking and working out — and when I wore this, it stayed where it belonged. It would never, like… You know how some sunscreens get into your eyes and STING when you start sweating? Not this stuff. It stays put, and the SPF certainly appears to have worked, because I tan easily — my skin picks up color after just few minutes outside — but this year I didn’t tan as much as I usually do.
I wish it wasn’t $60 for a 1.7-oz. tube, but at least it lasted six months, and that’s with me using it every day. It’s just a lovely, dependable sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection and antioxidants that are supposed to soothe stressed out skin and help with firmness and hyperpigmentation.
I didn’t really pay close attention to those things while I used it… I probably could/should have tracked my progress by taking pictures of my skin every few days, but I can confidently say that the hyperpigmentnation on my upper cheeks hasn’t gotten worse.
But I haven’t even gotten to my favorite thing about this yet — how quickly this absorbs! No clumping or peeling off, and it layer like a champ with other products, like my daily moisturizer and primer, and whatever else I wear under or on top of it.
All that and a faint, lovely citrus scent, too…
I also like that I can wear this on my neck without grumbling about my neck feeling sticky, it hasn’t triggered any breakouts, and it doesn’t leave behind one of those funky white casts on my skin (it’s also not tested on animals).
It worked well for me back when my combo skin was more oily than dry, and it still worked well through early winter after my skin turned much drier.
If you’re looking for a fabulous daily moisturizer with SPF to wear under your makeup, and you don’t mind paying top dollar for skin care, I highly recommend Murad Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++.
LOVE THIS STUFF.
Also, here’s a video from Murad that talks more about it…
So, what was the last beauty product you finished down to the last drop? Was it a piece of makeup, or was it a shampoo, lotion, hand cream or conditioner? I’m curious, did you do like I did and hit the almost empty tube/bottle against the sink to get out every. Last. Drop?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I tend to keep my skincare products pretty stable since I get allergic reactions and breakouts very easily! Last products finished were Derma A Antioxidant Face Sunscreen, Bioelements Calmitude Hydrating Solution Facial Mist, Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion, Cheryl Lee MD Ceramide+ Cream, Bioderma Sensibio, and CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. I really want to try the new Glossier Cleanser though!

I’m currently at the point where I’m cutting open the face cream and sunscreen to get the last bits out of the tube!

I love that sunscreen! Mines lasted me 9 months with me just using it on my face. Just this week I finished 4 products: that sunscreen, a deodorant, a body wash and a face wash. I love finishing products and can’t wait to focus my energy on the next close to being finished items. Thankfully I purchased a back up of the sunscreen during the VIB Rouge sale so I don’t have to go a day without it.

I first tried Murad products last year, and I keep trying new products in their line because I’ve loved everything I’ve tried. Right now I’m especially loving the anti-redness line I just started using last week. Another of my favorites is the eye moisturizer with sunscreen. The most delicate skin is in the eye area, yet eye moisturizers rarely come with SPF. The cleansers are really nice too. Glad I discovered Murad!

Sounds pretty fab! Love that it doesn’t sting the eyes and that it dries so fast. I hate it when my sunscreen just kinda sits there without ever absorbing into my skin…

I used to wear a tinted moisturizer from Murad, many moons ago, and liked it. Their products are usually very good quality, but spendy as you say. 🙂 Unless I’m going to be out in the sun,I definitely prefer an SPF in my tinted moisturizer – because I’m lazy.

but…. karen…..there’s still stuff left on the sides of the tube!!
I use my lotions up as completely as possible. I use Rodan+Fields redefine regimen and sometimes neutrogena sunscreen (the helioplex one). You’d better believe I leave nothing left on the R+F…that stuff is crazy expensive…but I love it. I love it soooo much.

lol, i was just thinking if karen cuts off tubes to get the very.last.drop like i do.

I’m down to just crumbs of product in my Nars Orgasm blush! I don’t use it as much as I used to, but I think that’s about the third or fourth full-size Orgasm I’ve used up over the last 10 years? But I’ve got a back-up in my Guy Bourdin palette, so I’m already set.

Yay, a sunscreen post when I’m looking at trying new sunscreens!
Okay, the last thing I used every last drop of was proooobably the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Cream Rinse. Keratin seemed like a good thing to put in my hair after coloring, right? And it makes my hair SO smooth. But my hair needs a lot of product when washed and conditioned, so that’s an issue. I’m also declaring my CoverFX Total Cover Cream Foundation done for, since the hole in the pan is half of it and it seems like it’s dried out. Love that foundation though, immediately replaced it (it’s the only foundation I’ve ever bought more than once, wow!). And I’m a huge fan of SheaMoisture’s body oils and definitely finish those to the very last drop.

I’ve been eyeing the new Tatcha one but maybe I should try this first.
My Armani Blushes and LSF. Chanel Le Volume.

I won the Murad C collection in deluxe sample sizes, and I love all of the products. The moisturizer was great, but I put it someplace and can’t find it. So far, I bought a full size cleanser from the set and love that too

I use Eucerin body lotions every day after I shower and have used several to the last drop. I also use hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil on my face and have used several of those completely, too. As for color cosmetics, I switch around so much they generally last me half of forever and I don’t use them up anywhere near so quickly.

The last item? A handcream. But I am actually getting really good at finishing things, especially skin- and body care. makeup… not so much.

Love the Essential C line from Murad. Have you tried the Environmental Shield essential C Complex? It’s a great serum, I absolutely love that one!

I adore the pic of the empty bottle!

This kind of looks just like what I’m looking for. So you can put it over moisturizer, or do you use it as a moisturizer?

This sounds like a product which would be perfect for me.
I use my sunscreen down to the last drop. Latest product I’ve used to the last drop is a sample of ZOMG Smells’s Sweet on Zhang Heng just today. I love re-created historical perfumes.

I love that stuff too! Got it in a Murad “try a bit of this line” box from Ulta and fell in love with that product.

I am pretty good with finishing cleansing products and moisturizing products. I last finished a bottle of aveeno eczema moisturizing cream and on the last dregs of erave bar soap and citrix spf40 sunscreen

This sounds great! I’ve bought several bottles of my Dior Capture Totale serum…my skin is not happy without it! It’s crazy expensive ($120 for the big bottle!) but it lasts me awhile, using it twice a day. Problem…it comes in a glass bottle and I know there’s more in the bottom that the pump isn’t picking up…do you know how to crack it open without shattering it so I can get every last drop?
