Sometime today, between shaving my toe hairs and vacuuming the stairs (Tabs is shedding like cray cray!), I had an affair…
It started innocently enough with a crush (as they often do). I’d played with three of the nine new MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Trios ($19.50 each) from the upcoming In The Groove collection. One thing led to another, yadda yadda yadda and BAM! — I couldn’t stop myself.
We’re supposed to meet again this Thursday when the collection arrives on counters.
Shh! Don’t tell El Hub. 🙂
If you’ve ever tried any of the older MAC Mineralize Eye Shadows, these are different. MAC reformulated them, and while I still love the old school formula, this new one takes the cake. MAC stepped up their game, creating a product that’s basically everything I ever wanted in a powder shadow. Silky soft, they apply like butter on toast, depositing ample color and blending like a dream. Shoot, the colors almost blend themselves! — and so far today they’ve lasted from my first cup of Irish breakfast tea all the way through dinner.
If you had fallout trubs with the older Mineralize Eye Shadows ending up on your cheeks or beneath your eyes (sometimes I did too), I think these adhere WAY better to skin.

Promise me you’ll think about swinging by a MAC counter to take a look at these if you can. If you weren’t a fan of the O.G. Mineralize shadows, I’d be curious to hear what you think about these. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+
Movie night!
How was your day? Not too crazy, I hope. I had grand plans to exercise tonight, but my legs are still mad sore from my run yesterday, so instead I rented a French romantic comedy on iTunes called Prête-Moi Ta Main (in English it’s called “I do”).
The description sounded interesting… It’s about a single guy with an overbearing family determined to see him get married, and to get them off his back he hires a woman friend to play his fiancé (sounds like a French Pretty Woman, but without the prostitution).
Let’s hope hilarity ensues! 🙂
How about you? What are you doin’ tonight? Anything fun?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hi Karen,
How do they blend, and would love to see it on you. Thanks

I need Togetherness! I thought I would pass on these, because in the pass the mineralized shadows had so much fallout. But these look gorg!!
Elle says
I wanna take a look at these…haven’t touched my old mineralize eye shadows in a while so I hope these are better! Also is that Charlotte Gainsbourg? Love her 🙂 Enjoy the movie!
Maggie says

So it’s true! I’ve heard rumors that the Mineralize shadows would be even more awesome this time, and well — if the reviews agree with the rumors, then it must be true 😉 I officially can’t wait for these to come out!
Let me know how the movie was? I could use a good French chick flick!

I think I might just find myself grabbing one of these. I’ll choose one when the looks start popping up, I think! =)

Whoah that togetherness is just gorgeous!! I also really love the quality of the swatches – I’m still struggling a bit properly blending MAC eyeshadows, but you can’t beat their quality…
As for tonight (Wednesday with the time difference), I’m seeing That Dude again 🙂 4th time in exactly a week and I’m looking forward to it!
How was the film??
PS: you were right about the midges, Karen! They were a real pain but not as bad as expected. Although I stupidly dry-brushed my arms and legs for post-camping exfoliation, and it made all the bites swell and itch like crazy. Yuck.

I love togetherness=D so bright and nice:D

I’ve never been a fan of MAC Mineralize eyeshadows as they didn’t have great color payoff but these look much better. Its’ good to know that MAC has improved their formula. I might even be tempted to pick up one to try it.

How was the movie?
Ive always stayed away from the MAC Mineralized eyeshadows (i have 4 that I hardly use) … but this new release has gotten me curious! Plus I love the interesting colors …. Might check them out. 🙂
Kayann says
Loved the colors but I’m more interested in the movie!! 😀 I was going to rent this movie a month or two ago! Unfortunately, hubby didn’t want to watch it with me…and I slowly forgot about it! You have to tell me if it’s worth watching! I loved the concept!! 🙂
Marce says
Hi Karen! What’s up? I feel your hairy pain, Pepa sheds her long tresses all year long. We sweep the floor at least…5 times a day, LOL!
I never had much trouble with mineralize eyeshadows, I’m actually quite a fan! Except for the glittery ones, they do have fall out, which is expected. Togetherness looks really pretty! I always fall for purples, darn! 😀
amy says
I already picked up some goodies from this collection last week but now I want more stuff! I already have Petticoat MSF and In the Groove eyeshadow on hold for me but now I want Togetherness eyeshadow too.

Maybe pop by the MAC counter to play with a few of them. I think you’ll really like the formula.

Ugh I’m still disappointed I wasn’t able to get Stereo Rose so I preordered By Candelight instead. I thought I was done until read this review. I’m shaking my broke fist at you right now hahahahaha
That movie looks cute – hope it was worth the rental!
Karen says
It was really good! I enjoyed it… sometimes I’m not in the mood to “read” while I’m watching a movie, but this one required no effort at all, LOL!
As for Stereo Rose, I barely managed to get my hands on a pan — I picked up the last one at my nearby Nordies on presale.
If you’re desperate to get it I’d suggest checking Nordstrom Beauty online over the next few days. They usually have stuff available even when it sells out on the MAC website.

They all look so gorgeous and tempting! Togetherness especially! In The Groove looks good in the pan but somehow the swatches are rather light/sheer, I think. But I need to see them, all of them, in person!

Oh, I’m glad they changed the formula. The old mineralize shadows didn’t seem to stick well on me either, I had to apply with a wet brush to get good pigmentation. Glad these are better!

Ooh, I can’t wait to check these out. I so wanted to love the old Mineralize eyeshadows but they burned my poor eyes soooo bad with all that fallout gumming up my waterlines. =/

That Togetherness is calling out to me. I never had much luck with the Mineralized eye shadows before, but I’ll go take a look. Thanks!

Karen, luv the blog 😉 I have a set of mineralized eye shadows. How do you apply the colors without speckles getting all over the neighbouring pigments? Thanks
amy says
I just B2M for In the Groove eyeshadow, it is so lovely and I can’t wait to use it. I think it is the nicest combination of neutrals MAC has but out in a while that is not just browns.

I tried out one of these the other day (okay, the truth: I went into a MAC store in the city to pick up ONE lipstick and ended up letting the adorable gay guys put whatever make-up on my face they wanted). I don’t remember which combination it was, one with a gold, a brown, and a rust color. Even in the midst of a heat wave, humid weather, me sweating, no primer, very balmy subway stations, etc, the eyeshadow didn’t budge or smear.
