When it comes to makeup, patience is not a virtue I have in great supply, which is why the instant gratification I get from seeing the new Physicians Formula pH Powered Lip Gloss change color on my lips suits me just fine.
Thing is, the doc’s new pH Powered Blush ($12.95; available in two shades, Natural and Rose) doesn’t work the same way.
Physicians Formula says they’re supposed to, but I dunno. Like the glosses, they’re supposed to react to your body chemistry — your pH level — and transform within 60 seconds into a custom color personalized for you, but I must have swept the glittery hot pink shade called Rose on my cheeks half a dozen times this week, and I’ve yet to see it change color.
It could be the effect is just too subtle for me to see, but even if Rose isn’t changing color at all, I’m still diggin’ it. I love how super saturated it is, and I think the packaging’s just adorable.
Rose is so bright and potent — the most intense of all the new Physicians Formula blushes I’ve tried — that a little goes a long way. Finally! A shade that darker damsels can easily wear, too, without having to go overboard on layers.
I’m always a little leery of blushes that claim to last longer than 8 hours, but this one really does. Physicians Formula claims it’ll go 14 hours, and it’ll do that much and more. Yesterday, in fact, I applied it before 8 in the morning, and when I went to remove my makeup a little after 10 last night, I could still see it cheering up my cheeks.
pH Matchmaker Powdered Blush, Happy Booster Glow Mood Boosting Blush in Pink, Happy Booster Glow Mood Boosting Bronzer Blush in Bronze/Natural, Cashmere Wear Ultra Smoothing Blush in Natural and pH Matchmaker pH Powered Lip Gloss in Light Pink
Only thing is, it seems to get a little patchy as the day wears on. Not terribly so, but a little. Smartly, the doc included a brush inside a hidden compartment in the bottom of the compact, and a swipe with that over my cheeks a couple times a day does even things out.
Lovelies with very light skin tones might find Rose too bold, but it could be a match made in drugstore makeup heaven for damsels with medium and darker skin.

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I love the saturation and extended wear time, but it can get a little patchy)
Kittens, en Français!
Kittens in tiny hats and ties…? Are you kidding me!? That’s just too cute.
Thank you, Erica, for sharing this with me. It was definitely one of the highlights of my day. 🙂
I guess my three years of high school French wasn’t enough to be able to figure out exactly what’s going on in this clip… Now see, if I’d known back when I was taking those classes that someday I’d be trying to understand a commercial filled with little French kittens wearing phone headsets, I would have paid closer attention to Madame when she asked us to conjugate those verbs, haha!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Wheee kittehs! I’ve seen this (more times than I care to admit) and it’s so hilarious! At some point the narrator says:” Because we know you like to watch video clips with kittens on the Internet, we have decided to put this clip on the Internet with kittens.” Good thinking eh?
Also, have you seen the making of? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYT5B548Dlw
Part of it is in French, but the director speaks English and really, who cares when you get to see the kittens run amok?

It’s pretty and the packaging is cute but I’m not too sure about the pH thing. And anyway what doesnt pH have to do with color? For example does an NW50 and more acidic skin than an NC25?

Kitties. French. I.DIE. :-d
I have this and I do like it a lot! 🙁 It gives a healthy flush to the cheeks!

Wow! That’s a pretty long lasting blush. It would be great to take on holidays!
It’s a lovely shade on you!

It’s a little pricier than other drugstore blushes, but the quality seems to be better, so paying a few bucks more for a better quality product is not a problem. =)

I purchased this blush and I didn’t see any changing of color.
It’s pleasant enough color but I don’t see it as a must have by any means.
I honestly think the packaging is HORRID, it’s soo very bulky! Not great for makeup bag at all or traveling. I would say de-pan it.

Hi Karen! I picked this up in Natural yesterday but I think my hand was way too heavy with it this morning. What kind of brush did you use with this?
