Mario and Luigi, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Orgasm and Laguna… I love duos, both in my daily life and my makeup bag.
Take two awesome things and put them together, and sometimes you get awesomeness even greater than the sum of its parts!
My makeup bag is bursting with duos. They’re just so practical and convenient. Does this go with that? Oh, sure it does, because it’s a duo! They make me less likely to go orange alert/shank strangers and give me more time to tackle more important things, like whether to indulge Tabs by playing Ridin’ Dirty again.
Wait for the chirp at the end
When Dior’s $56 Diorskin Nude Tan Paradise Duo in Coral Glow flitted onto shelves with the summer 2013 Bird of Paradise collection, my heart fluttered.
With a warm, golden tan bronzer on one side and a bright coral blush on the other, it’s got the goods to create sun-kissed skin and radiant cheeks.
And since the bronzer and blush sides are further divided into lighter and darker shades (or “harmonies,” as Dior likes to call ’em), which can be worn separately or mixed together, you can adjust the effect depending on your skin tone or tan.
It reminds me of the NARS Orgasm Laguna Duo (which I love), but I think Dior’s version isn’t quite as glittery and has more of a sheen to it than a shimmer. I also think it’s easier to blend.
Thankfully, the bronzers and blushes don’t appear heavy, either, as the powders seamlessly sink into my skin, and when I build them up in layers for more intensity, they don’t end up looking like cake.
So beautiful paired with bold summery gold or teal eyes…or even with just a couple layers of mascara and a slick of gloss. 🙂
PRICE: $56 for a 0.33-ounce pan

Someone’s out of it…
Could you please pass the coffee mug, babe? Thank you sooooo much. I’m a little out of it this morning because I stayed up too late watching TV last night.
On a school night! I know, I’m bad. 🙂
I got home late from a bareMinerals launch party in the city for their new line of Moxie lipsticks, glosses and lip liners.
Info and pics from the launch coming up…
In other news, how are you? I miss ya.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Yes, this duo is exactly how I wanted it to be! I’m not even into bronzers but I think a duo like this is a great way to venture into the world of bronzers, no? I’m suspecting that we aren’t getting the coral version here tho, it made my heart break a little bit :(.
Karen says
Hi Teri,
Bronzer will change your life! I wasn’t that into it when I first started wearing makeup, but I think it really does a lot to shape the face. Now I feel naked without it. This would be a great bronzer to start with because you get so much control over how light or how dark you want to go. Plus, it’s so yummy and blendable. Do you guys get Benefit? They make a face powder called Hoola that’s a good starter bronzer.
Teri says
Oh yes, we do get Benefit here! Thanks for the rec Karen, I need to check it out now ^^. As for contouring I do use a shaping product, just not a bronzer tho. Maybe because most are shimmery? Well I’m still figuring it out, haha ^^.

The first photo of you is gorgeous! Love the colorway. Your lashes are KILLIN! :]
Karen says
Hi Madelynn,
Thanks, lady! That’s Chanel Le Volume doing its thang. Happy Thursday, btw. Doing anything fun tonight?
Madelynn says
Oh no, just packing up for a bridal trial! How about you?
Agata says
I was afraid those duos were going to be gorgeous….Blush and bronzer? My two favorite things in the world, lol. I want it!!
Cannot wait for your Bare Minerals report and that picture looks really cute and the glimpse of Tabs is awesome too!
Karen says
Hi Agata,
ME TOO! I’m going to Nordstrom tomorrow and may have to break down. There’s a second version with a pink blush (my weakness!).
Speaking of bareMinerals, do you ever wear Buxom? I wore a Buxom Gloss last night and it’s like my new fave neutral. It’s called “Boo-Ya” and it’s a shimmery golden pink.
Agata says
I know there is the pink duo too. I am not even sure which one looks better, lol.
I haven’t tried those Buxom glosses. Just searched for them on sephora.com, they do look lovely. Will make sure next time I am at Sephora to check them out in person!
Karen says
I really don’t think you can go wrong with either. Both have a lovely texture and blend so well.
Sweet, I hope you like the Buxom Glosses. I have a few that I’ve been liking lately, but Boo-Yah is my fave.
Tiffany says
This is soooo gorgeous! Now if door would only halve their prices 😉
I can’t wait to hear about the moxie products! I love bare minerals!
Karen says
Hi Tiffany,
Are you back from Arizona? How was the trip?
Tiffany says
Yeah! It was great but I’m happy to be home again!!
Karen says
Did you end up overpacking (story of my life)?
Tiffany says
I actually did ok! I wore everything I brought except one dress and one necklace. Of course, I was wishing I had brought more (my olloclip, a black wrap for nighttime…) but I managed ok! Also I now want to get spa pedicures every 3 weeks for the remainder of summer 🙂
Karen says
OHMYGOSH, aren’t those the best? If I was a lady who lunched, I would certainly go to the spa every weekend! I need a massage desperately right now…
Did you guys find any cool restaurants or anything while you were there?
Tiffany says
Um yes. Most amazing pedi ever. Want more spa time!!!
We only left the resort twice – once we grabbed lunch with my cousin and aunt and their husbands at a casual place. Then one night we had dinner at the boulder house, which is literally a house built into boulders. It was really unique! I’ll have photos for Facebook later!
Sunny says
Ahh my heart just melted a little! I’m not sure we get this one here though. It’s possible that only the pink version is available. Bummer! I’d go coral all the way!
Karen says
Hi Sunny,
The pink one looks really pretty too. Heart!
Kim says
Oh, this is lovely. I have the Orgasm/Laguna duo and now I’m inspired to bronze a bit. 🙂 On a side note, I didn’t notice your silly face in the pic because my attention went immediately to your awesome arm. Check out that definition! I might be inspired to do some extra arm work tonight. See how inspiring your posts are? So much so, that I needed to use the word three times. 🙂
Karen says
Dude, I think that’s leftover muscle from when I used to consistently lift. It’s been ages since I’ve done upper body work! I miss being able to bench press, le sigh.
How are you liking the Orgasm/Laguna Duo? I have an ancient one that I love. I swatched the newest version a while back and it seems like it’s much more glittery than it used to be.
Kim says
I wish all my muscles were smart and remembered how they used to look when they weren’t covered by a layer of flab. HAHA!
I just used it this AM (just the Laguna because I have Orgasm in a separate pan for everyday). I didn’t notice any glitter but now that you mention it, I’ll have to check. I’m sure you’re right, though. I probably look like a tan Edward Cullen and don’t know it. 🙂
Danielle says
This is prettier than I expected, but I don’t like my products touching like that lol. I’m the same with with food on my plate haha.
Karen says
Hi Danielle,
I have friends who are the same way! I don’t mind so much as long as I have a brush with small brush head, so I can really control the color.
What’s going on today? Anything new to report?
Amy says
This is gorgeous! And sounds super blendable. Too pink for me, though – does it come in a peach? I’m on the lookout for a good peach that’s pigmented but lightweight and totally blends. I tried Laura Mercier, adored the color, but on me at least it was cake-omatic.
Karen says
Hi Amy,
There’s another version in this launch called Pink Glow that might still be too pink for you. Dior also makes these blush trios that might work for you called the Diorskin Nude Natural Glows. Maybe Sable Rose or Passion? Here’s a link to give you an idea: Diorskin Nude Natural Glows.
Amy says
Thanks, Karen! The Passion option might do the trick – must try it out! Their Diorblush in Peachy Keen looks promising, too!
Sami says
To die for!
Chelsea says
Oh man, this looks brilliant. I hadn’t worn bronzer regularly in quite a few years (maybe 5!) but I’m starting to work it in now to give my face some dimension without having to wear foundation all over (I’m trying to just do nose, chin, undereyes with the Bobbi foundation stick). With a fan brush and a lighter bronzer, it makes me look good!
Liz says
Karen, you’re so beautiful! I invested in both eye palettes and the two new lipsticks after seeing your look. I’m LOVING this collection!
ELISA says
Hi Karen
How does this compare to the guerlain 4 seasons bronzed in 00?
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
I love how you applied the bright shadow in these pics, Karen! You’ve just inspired me to try a similar look tomorrow. This is the perfect easy eye for summer, too! Gorgeous!
Sadie says
*sigh* I want…
Jennifer says
I LOVE this! You make blue look perfect! I would make it look clown like!
Lisa says
Which is your favorite of the eye palettes? They both look great on you, so I’m just curious as to your favorite. Thanks.
