Over here!
Look over here! This way!! Look at me!!!
Essie’s six-piece Winter 2012 collection hands nails a highly pigmented loudspeaker with a funky mix of bold blues, royal reds and sparkling glitters.
THERE’S NOTHING QUIET ABOUT THIS LAUNCH! The bright, intensely pigmented colors are anything but shy.
Even though I feel like we’ve seen many of these colors before, I like the way they all look together as a collection here.
Where’s My Chauffeur (the bright turquoise) and Beyond Crazy (the shimmery golden glitter) are the standouts for me. I’m definitely gonna play matchmaker and introduce the two of them on my nails this week… 🙂
Essie didn’t reinvent the wheel for some of these shades, but they were quite generous with pigment when they doled it out here for the holidays.
PRICE: $8 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at salons, beauty stores and online at ulta.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I love the colors and high level of pigment, even if some of the shades aren’t entirely groundbreaking)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Have a great day today. CHRISTMAS TREE UPDATE, TUE., DEC. 11, 2012 – Tabs has NOT knocked down the tree yet, but he skulks around it like he’s formulating a plan…
Christine says
I am dyyyyyying to get my hands (nails?) on Beyond Cozy. I’m pretty sure I put it in bold on my Christmas list. 😛
Tabs is probably plotting how to climb it without you noticing (I’m glad my cat is cross-eyed and doesn’t dare climbing things).
Karen says
I wouldn’t be surprised. Two years ago he knocked it over…the funny thing is I was in the same room and didn’t hear a thing. He did it silently, kitty ninja style.
Agata says
I am in love with this collection. I like how it steps out of the box for traditional holiday/winter colors. And the formula is wonderful. I love Bulter Please and She’s Pampered, I know it’s just red but I think it’s perfect.
Good job Tabs, are you going to post a picture of the Christmas tree?
Karen says
Yes! I’m still working on it, believe it or not.
Oh yeah…I just caught Tabs trying to eat the pine needles.
Kiss & Make-up says
Love love loooove Where’s My Chauffeur! Now… Where is he??
😉
Karen says
LOL, El Hub’s mine.
Emalitsa says
Ohh this is bad! I always say I don’t need/like any of the polishes in the press images but as soon as I see swatches somehow I need at least half of them!
They look way too good on you to pass them by!
Karen says
Ha! I’m the same way.
Jennifer says
I really like the last one, she’s pampered… I hate the glitter ones for the difficulty in getting them off!
Karen says
Yeah, they’re kind of a pain. But fun!
Tina @ My Highest Self says
Oh good lord, nail polish is my weakness and these are out-of-this world colors!
Karen says
Ha! I have a soft spot for ’em, too, Tina.
Mojito says
I got the miniature set and kept just two shades – Beyond Cozy and Leading Lady (which is a pain to apply…) The rest doesn’t really stand out…
Karen says
Beyond Cozy’s cute.
Kerry says
I have Beyond Cozy and it’s one of my favorite glitter polishes of all time. Love the pics today, btw!
Karen says
Thanks, Kerry!
Alessa says
I especially like the Leading Lady one, it really says “Christmas” to me. “Where’s My Chauffeur” doesn’t inspire me unfortunately…
Karen says
Leading Lady feels so festive. 🙂
Marla says
I really like Leading Lady, Snap Happy, and Beyond Cozy.
Karen says
All beautiful colors, Marla. 🙂
Ankita@corallista says
Leading Lady for me!
Karen says
Great pick!
gio says
Leading Lady looks gorgeous! The other shades are all very pretty too.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Yes, it’s a beautiful collection!
Marina(Makeup4all) says
Where’s My Chauffeur is super beautiful!
Karen says
Hi Marina,
Yeah it is! It’s my fave too.
Happy Wednesday!
Megan B. says
GAH! Where’s My Chauffeur is PERFECT!
Karen says
Super gorgeous, right?
Tennyoceres says
I agree, some of the shades aren’t that inspiring. Like Where’s My Chauffeur. I have a dozens of turquoise blue in my nail polish stash and—err, it’s somehow in my nail polish stash. Oh here perfect example. Butler Please. I have at least two bottles similar—oh this color ended up in my shopping bag when I went to Target the other day.
Essie really got me for this collection. Maybe not the unique color selection, but the brightness. Where’s My Chauffeur visually freshens the palette, like that random strip of greenish blue in Aquafresh. Butler Please seems to glow even though it’s periwinkle blue.
Karen says
Ha! I love the brightness too. It’s the perfect thing for a gloomy, rainy days.
Hey…isn’t today your wedding day?!?
Tennyoceres says
Next Friday! The end of the world, baby!
My fiance thinks I’m crazy that I’m mostly packed yet finding more things to stuff in my suitcase. BUT I must have room for some new shoes. My Christmas present to myself is a pair of Louboutin shoes. Of all the fashion things I’m missing.
Karen says
Ahhh, I knew the date had something to do with the apocalypse, LOL! Where are you guys getting hitched?
Whatever you do — don’t check in those Loubs. Seriously, stick ’em in your carry on.
Katie says
Leading Lady didn’t do much for me until I applied it over I’m Not Really a Waitress. Now, I feel like I died and went to festive nail polish heaven. Love!
Karen says
That sounds really pretty, Katie. I think I’ll have to borrow your look.
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
I am in LOVE with this whole set–I’ve been alternating between all the shades since purchasing it a few weeks ago. I have never been big on glittery nails, but I tell ya–Leading Lady and Beyond Cozy are the most well-done glitter polishes I’ve seen and I’m obsessed with them! 😀
Karen says
Yay! Glad to hear you like ’em.
Mandy says
I bought “Beyond Cozy” yesterday. It’s on my nails right now and i LOVE it!!! It’s so beautiful and sparkly 😀 Might be getting “Where’s my chauffeur” today. I’ts one of those colors, if i don’t get it i’m going to regret it! Made that mistake with the OPI Skyfall collection 🙁 NOT making the same mistake again lol!
Karen says
Hi Mandy,
Nice! You’ve got to get your hands on Where’s My Chauffer. It’s a beauty. 🙂
Kim says
Leading Lady makes me think of flying monkeys, in a good way. It has awesome holiday sparkle!
Did I tell you that we used to have to tie the tree to the wall every year a new cat was introduced to the house? Coming home to broken bulbs and water everywhere only had to happen once. Now that all the kitties are settled in, they still love to hang out under the tree, but they don’t climb it or attack the bulbs anymore. 🙂
Karen says
Haha! Do they drink out of the base? For some reason the tree water is like ambrosia of the gods for Tabs. Every time I turn around, there he is — slurp, slurp, slurp!
Kim says
Oh, yes, definitely. And they like to chew on the inside branches. It’s like snack-central! HAHA!
Karen says
UGH, I caught him doing that the other day. I’m thinking about setting aside a few branches for him so he’ll have his own “special stash.” I doubt it will work. You know cats. If it isn’t on their terms, they’re not having it.
Nina says
She’s Pampered is my fave in this lot!
Karen says
Hi Nina,
Love that one for the name. 🙂
Diane says
Here’s what I do to protect my Christmas tree from my two kitties: sprinkle something spicy, like chili powder or cayenne pepper. The scent fades (for humans) quickly but the cats will sense it and not like it and therefore stay away from the tree. It’s not harmful to them, they just don’t like it. Cinnamon and citrus scents will work too, but won’t be as effective (you’ll have to reapply more often).
Or, if you have a real tree, you can keep some of the extra branches that get trimmed off and give to the kitty. Mine like to make a next in the branches and sense they have their own, they no longer try to climb the tree.
Diane says
Whoops, sorry, meant “Nest” not “next”. And “since”, not “sense”. D’oh.
Gina says
‘Where’s my chauffeur” is pretty interesting for a winter collection. I have to get my hands on it and “Butler please”. I generally love blues for winter! 🙂
Karo says
I love love love love this collection!
This colors are so pretty
