Bees and tattoos have at least one thing in common. Both of them sting, but the sting isn’t why I haven’t gotten any tattoos. Credit for that goes to my fickle nature.
I’m probably the worst candidate for permanent body ink because I’m just way too fickle for my own good. I mean, I can’t even commit to a body cream, for crying out loud!
Last month I was crushing hard on Nuance Salma Hayek Super Secret Moisturizing Body Cream; this month I’m buzzing over Burt’s Bees Cranberry & Pomegranate Body Butter ($13).
I haven’t set Super Secret aside altogether, but I have been craving cozier scents lately, like the one Burt’s moisturizing body butter exudes.
Ingredients: aqua (water, eau), helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycerin, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, cetyl alcohol, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, parfum (fragrance), sucrose stearate, vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry) seed oil, punica granatum seed oil, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) butter, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, tocopherol, lactic acid, magnesium aluminum silicate, sodium stearoyl lactylate, glyceryl laurate, sucrose polystearate, glycine soja (soybean) oil, xanthan gum, phenoxyethanol, evernia prunastri (oakmoss) extract, citral, citronellol, farnesol, geraniol, limonene, linalool, natural fragrance
I’ve been tempted to gobble it up (but not enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room)! It smells exactly like Burt’s wonderful Pomegranate & Cranberry Scrub — just like a homemade cranberry crumble, hot and fresh from the oven.
As for the texture — oh, the texture… It’s lighter and fluffier than most body butters and quick to absorb, which I like. It does, however, leave behind a very light film, but one that doesn’t feel slick or greasy, so I can forgive it for that.
My dry skin absolutely fears this stuff! I’ve been slathering it on every night after my shower, and it keeps all signs of ashy and flaky skin away long into the following afternoon.
If your skin craves moisture, and you love sweet, cozy cranberry scents (but don’t mind a slight film), Burt’s new body butter is well worth a try.
Heck, even Tabs likes the stuff because it wasn’t tested on animals. As you can see from the top picture, he hid my jar in the garden out back. 🙂
PRICE: $13 for a 6.5-oz. jar
AVAILABILITY: Available now at most drugstores, grocery stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (I wish it came in a tube!)
Another diva in New York…
That reminds me — I got a text from his royal highness yesterday (Tabs) filling me in on Fashion Week in New York. The shows are in full swing, and all of his gigs have gone smoothly so far. Thank goodness, because I’m not prepared to deal with one of his pre-runway meltdowns right now.
Per usual, though, he rattled off a litany of diva demands, like he wants me to email any product sneak peeks from Fashion Week directly to his iPhone.
I’m sending him this blurb on Hourglass Cosmetics tonight. At the Imitation of Christ show, the high-end indie line demonstrated a couple of new goodies set to launch in 2012. The first is an anti-aging foundation called Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation, which is supposed to deliver a long-lasting matte finish that lasts all day without touch-ups, and the second piece is a new Primer Serum designed for all skin types.
The foundation comes out next spring, and the primer, next summer. No word yet on prices, but knowing Hourglass, they might be kinda steep.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Mmm…. I’ll bet this smells great! I, too, would prefer a tube however. I don’t like getting product under the finger nails, which is hard to avoid with jars.

It took me forever to decide what kind of tattoo I wanted. Kept changing my mind. It’s got something to do with being a Gemini I bet.
I gotta tell you I really like the Pomegranate scrub but I don’t think I would like the scent for a body lotion.

I agree that this would be perfect in a tube. Tins and tubs just scream “germs” to me, and having to wash my hands before each use gets old quick! 8)

Yum! This sounds delightful! I’m getting really into Burt’s Bees now after trying the Mango Butter Lip Balm… I might have to look for this next time I head over to the drugstore.
And ooooh… I’ve totally been thinking about getting a tattoo but I’m still deciding on what it should be of XD At the moment for a big change, I decided that over winter break when I have the time, I’m going to get my hair shorter and get some nice highlights 😀 I haven’t had highlights since I was a junior in high school and I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately ^_^

I should try this out for the coming winter, when my skin gets super dry.

Speaking of Burt – I’ve been meaning to tell you that I’ve been using the Mango & Orange bar soap (you’d reviewed the honey one a while ago) and I think you’d love it. It’s moisturizing and has a light citrus scent that’s very nice in the morning. 🙂
And I still haven’t had a chance to catch up on your posts. It’s a bit depressing. Maybe that should have been part of my weekly goals!
