The word, “feathering,” in Clinique’s new Lash Power Feathering Mascara makes me think of birds. And birds make me think of jerks. Because that’s what they are. JERKS.
Oh, I’m just cranky because the neighborhood birds completely decimated my radishes.
I filled two large planters with radish seeds (partly because they grow to harvest in 25-30 days, which is quick, and partly because El Hub and I like them in salads), and as soon as they began to sprout the cutest, tiniest little leaves (aww!), the neighborhood birds just tore ’em up without any regard for my spring planting agenda.
They chewed up the sprouts, destroying every single last one of them, until all that remained were a few sad nubs that will not survive.
Sooooo…no radishes for the nice lady who, incidentally, keeps the bird feeder on the deck filled at all times with yummy birdseed.
Nope. No radishes. Not one.
Anyway…#endrant. On to mascara.
I wanted to try Clinique’s new Lash Power Feathering Mascara mostly because of the marketing hype, which promises “out-to-there” length, and being a mascara hoarder an all, that greatly excited me. 🙂
Lash Power also promises a feathery soft lash look that lasts 12 hours without smudging, and to be easy to remove using warm water.
After a week of testing, my verdict is in. On Lash Power, I think my fringe does look feather soft. Lash Power does a great job of separating and maintaining a curling. It tends to flake a little if I go beyond crazy with the layering — it does layer exceptionally well, without any clumping or bumps — but other than that, it’s pretty sturdy stuff, and it really does wash off easily with my regular face cleanser and warm water, which is convenient.
As for smudging, as long as I don’t rub at or futz with my eyes, it doesn’t.
Buuuut, I don’t know about the “out-to-there” length claims. That may be a stretch. (Ha! Pardon the pun.)
I do see a little difference in length, but it’s definitely not dramatic. That makes Lash Power more of a “Sunday morning brunch mascara” for me.
Of course, I love Sunday morning brunch, so there’s that. 🙂
I think it’s a solid everyday mascara, especially if you like feathery lashes with a little extra length and lift, but it probably won’t satisfy someone addicted to lash drama. Better for girls/guys looking for separated, soft, natural-looking lashes.
Lash Power is available now in two shades, Black Onyx, which is the one I wear, and Dark Chocolate. You can find it now at Clinique counters and online at clinique.com.

That might be nice in the dark brown for blondes who want a flirty everyday look that isn’t harsh.
Karen says
Totally. It’s one of those easy to wear mascaras.

It would make a perfect brunch mascara, for sure. 🙂

Awww.. thats sad karen that all ur hardwork for getting radishes got ruined.. 🙁
But this mascara looks prettyy nice for daily wearable looks.. 🙂

Definitely wouldn’t work for me as I need a ton of dramatic volume and length to even look like I have lashes, but I really love how fluttery and romantic they make your eyes look!
BJ says
Aw so lovely, but alas I’m afraid even at Sunday brunch I’m rocking drama lashes (or just big sunnies).

I have also been putting it to the test for about a week now and yeah – same verdict. The original lash power packs a better punch. And it needs a bit too much work for me, to work as workday mascara, I need a swipe and go and this does nothing for me with just one swipe *sadface*
I hade really high hopes for this one…

I’ve found that with all the Clinique mascaras I’ve tried. They’re nice but not draggy enough for me. 🙂
Btw, your eyebrow looks impeccable in those pics. Mine are irritating me, so I’m quite envious!
And, I’m with you on the birds. One of my boys LOVES birds and wants to get chickens (not happening). I always tell him that they’re sharp (all beak, bones and talons). I like my pets to be soft and cuddly.

I like the way that brush looks. Looks like it’ll be great for bottom lashes too

I like the look of the brush on this mascara, but like another Clinique one I recently looked into, it doesn’t really *wow* me. That’s OK, because it looks like a decent mascara, but I guess I’m always on the search for one that will really make me sit up and blink 😉
