Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Candy Shimmer

Wearing the new $22 Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Candy Shimmer, one of three new spring 2013 shades coming March to Clarins counters and

These are those kinds of lip glosses that a friend or your mom gushes over (“OMIGOSH, SO GREAT!), hands you a tube, and at first you think, “Hmm, if you say so,” before plopping it in your purse where you promptly forget about it for a day or two.

Only then, you give it a try, and find yourself reaching into your purse for it over and over again. Next thing you know, you’re addicted! — to the colors, and the gooey caramel flavor and scent, and the soft, smooth, non-sticky texture.

The next day you’re at the Clarins counter, making friends with a complete stranger, nodding emphatically, and trying to convince her that she needs all three of the new spring shades in her life. ASAP! πŸ™‚

Pink Petal Shimmer, rosy pink Candy Shimmer and rosy brown Rosewood Shimmer are straight up swipe-and-go sheer purse glosses that have just been leveled up. They shine like pretty baubles, quench my dry lips like glossy Gatorade and just feel so soft and comfy that I could wear them nonstop (I would have to reapply every two hours or so, but such is life).

These three new shades join three existing colors in the permanent collection (Rose Shimmer, Apricot Shimmer and Nude Shimmer) at Clarins counters next month.

Through a trick of light, and something Clarins calls “3D radiance pigments,” the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors are designed to make lips appear like they’re all plump, full, shiny and smooth (I think I see it). Shea butter and mango extracts also help to nourish and protect your pout.

Oh, and uh, they taste and smell like caramel (and feel like cake frosting when I rub my lips together)! — which is arguably the best part (if you ask me). When I apply one of these, and close my eyes, I can almost see myself eating a bowl of dulce de leche ice cream. πŸ™‚

These also moisturize the heck out of my lips, and while they probably won’t revolutionize the world of lip gloss as we know it, I’m reserving space in my Zella tote for a tube or two.

Are they new? Because I swear I have seen them at Nordstrom (maybe these are new shades?) but I read so many good reviews about those glosses. They are def on my never ending wish list πŸ™‚

Darn it – the name and email fields used to autofill for me but now I have to remember to type them in each time. I had a fabulous comment written but got an error message, so I had to start again. The first one was mind-blowing. Really! πŸ˜‰

Seriously, though, I will check these out because I’ve yet to find a moisturizing gloss that I really love. And I do think that your lips look plumper with these on. On a side note, you look really springy and cheerful in your pics, which is nice since it’s crazy cold here today and everyone I see is bundled up and looking pretty miserable. πŸ™‚

  6. Meghan says:

Even though they’re sheer, the colors are really delicate and beautiful. Who can fault them either if they smell like caramel! :]

I got a sample tube of this around Christmas in shade 01 (no name on the tube). I also love the way it feels and smells! And so easy to apply with the flock tip πŸ™‚

  8. Chris El says:

Candy Shimmer looks pretty. I love your entire outfit (blouse & necklace)! It works well with the sheerness of these glosses.

Well I am convinced. It is a good thing I have two small kids though. That is the only thing that stops me from daily trips to nordstrom’s to pick up a few “essentials”.

  10. Oooh I LOVE these! Rosewood Shimmer, here I come!! πŸ˜€

I love, love you blog! Your writing is so funny and spot on! I wasn’t looking for another lipgloss, but who can say “no” to little caramel frosting something every time they smack their lips? Thank you Karen!
