Beautiful Girls, by Kat Reeder, $595
Howzit, girl? Aloha from Hawaii’ne. Our flight got in a few hours ago. We’re at my in-laws place now in Kaneohe, just catching up and watching Entertainment Tonight, LOL!
So sleepy… I’m exhausted. What are you up to right now? Did you watch the Dancing with the Stars grand finale? It hasn’t aired yet here, but I couldn’t wait and looked up the winner online. All I can say is YES! Don’t worry. No spoilers (except in the comments!). 🙂
I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled this week for any interesting makeup and beauty products (and any other cool stuff), taking pics of everything to share. Also while I’m here, some very awesome guest bloggers and friends will be helping out, so stay tuned for reviews this week from Sam, Olga, Audrey and more.
Sweet dreams. It’s time for this tired girl to hit the haaaaay!
But before I go, how about a little look at Chantecaille?
Chantecaille Lip Chic in Tea Rose on lips
Before you write off Chantecaille Lip Chic in Tea Rose because of its $30 price tag, take a moment to scroll…down. 🙂
Okay, yes, it’s very expensive, and, yes, the whole gloss/lipstick hybrid thing’s been totally done to death (see: Jemma Kidd Hi-Shine Glossticks, Avon Glazewears, MAC Slimshines, the Prescriptives LipShines, etc.), but OH, NELLY! It sure feels great on my cold-burned lips.
Tea Rose is one of 14 permanent shades in Chantecaille’s Lip Chics line of lipsticks designed to smooth, firm and plump puckers.
This shimmery rose has just a hint of red and buildable light-to-medium coverage with a shiny finish.
Chantecaille Lip Chic in Tea Rose
Unlike most of the glosses in lipstick clothing I’ve tried, non-sticky Chantecaille feels thick, almost like a nourishing bed-time balm or lip treatment.
It’s exceptionally moisturizing, too. I wore Tea Rose all last weekend, and by Sunday nighe ye olde kisser felt hydrated, relieved and soothed.
I also think it’s neat how it doesn’t look as thick as it feels. This would be great first date material. Oh, and speaking of kissing, your date might appreciate the light vanilla scent and flavor just as much as you do. 😉
New to the Chantecaille line? It’s a luxury line with makeup in a natural-looking color palette, makeup tools, skincare and fragrance with products ranging from $21 (the price of a refill pan of shadow or liner) to $400 (a face cream). Their schtick? A combination of a highly concentrated botanicals and cutting-edge technology. The founder of the brand, Sylvie Chantecaille, is also the gal who launched the Prescriptives makeup line in 1979.
Wear time’s also pretty great for a gloss-style lipstick; I’ve been getting about four hours.
The $30 price hurts, but just imagine these shiny lips with a lil’ cream blush and some waterproof mascara… You’d be pool-ready in a hot second!
Oh, and Chantecaille has a special online gift with purchase starting on November 26. If you buy their limited edition Fall 2010 Tiger in the Wild Palette ($78), Chantecaille will throw in a Lip Chic in Tea Rose for free. 🙂
PRICE: $30 for a 0.07-oz tube
AVAILABILITY: At select department stores and online.

I am so jealous you’re in my hometown right now! And I love that Kat Reeder painting. I saw a bunch of them I wanted when I was in Hawaii over the summer, but I ended up buying a cheaper print by another artist instead – Heather Brown.
Karen says
I love her stuff! I would love one of her paintings as well.
Thanks for the heads up on Heather Brown. I’ll look up her prints.
Olga says
Have a great time in Hawaii (as I am sure you will)!!! Did you bring Tabs with you? I left my cat back in Baltimore with my boyfriend, and I miss her (and the boyfriend :-)) so much!!!
Karen says
Hi Olga,
I wish we could’ve taken Tabs with us. He’s at home holding down the fort with his petsitter. 🙂

I can’t believe this is a lipstick – it looks so much like a gloss!!
Enjoy Hawaii and holiday, it all sounds lovely!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Fieran!
Lucie says
Hawaii? No fair! Have fun!
I personally like my lipsticks lipsticky and my gloss glossy so the lipstick-gloss hybrid doesn’t appeal to me, but I’m lovin’ your nude face here, and the bangs. Very chic. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Lucie,
For once the bangs were behaving, LOL!
What are your plans for Thanksgiving?
gio says
I hope you have a great time in a Hawaii!
This looks more like a gloss than a lipstick, which I really like. The price, though, not so much.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Thank you! Have a great week. 🙂
Kim says
It is beautiful, but for $30 it had better be!
Have a great time in Hawaii and don’t forget to smuggle home some turkey and gravy for Tabs. He’s sure to be put out and demanding offerings when you get back. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
Karen says
Hi Kim,
LOL re: Tabs demanding offerings. 🙂 That’s so true!

Sharon says
Welcome back to the beautiful rock!
Karen says
Thanks, Sharon!
It’s great to be some place warm. 🙂 What’s the weather like out your way? It’s been rainy and overcast here on the east side all morning.
Sharon says
i live in mililani. it’s usually sunny, with an occasional light rain over here. but i slept the day away today. lol!
enjoy your stay, Karen!
Karen says
I think I’ll probably end up sleeping half the day away today — that usually happens when I overload on carbs, LOL!
Have a very happy Thanksgiving!
Ruchita says
The color is very pretty! I like that it is moisturizing b/c the dry winter air always dries out my skin. Have a wonderful (warm) time in Hawaii! It is one of my favorite vacation places. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
I totally need moisture in droves during the winter. 🙂
When were you in Hawaii? Did you visit Oahu?
Tracy says
Have a GREAT trip! Relax! Have Fun! And watch out for Volcano zombies! 😉
Karen says
Hi Tracy,
I’ll keep an eye out for them. I hope they don’t show up in the surfing lineup. 😉
Have a very happy Thanksgiving!
Mallory says
You’re lucky, we just started having nice weather again! It has been kind of rainy and stormy… But, then again, if you are in Kaneohe it’s always pretty wet there!
Karen says
Hi Mallory,
It was surprisingly dry here when we landed yesterday. I hope it holds up! 🙂
What are you doing for Thankgiving?
JJ says
You and Hawaii look great 🙂
I am very curious if you wore makeup during your flight. Maybe you can write an article about makeup and airplane travel?
Anyway, have a great holiday 🙂
Karen says
Hi JJ,
A did a video about travel makeup a while back:
When It Comes to Travel Makeup
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
Deb says
Enjoy Hawaii!! And I agree with JJ – what do you do for travel makeup?
OMG I am so happy about Dancing with the Stars, too!
Karen says
Hi Deb,

Those look so pretty, I might have to splurge on one of those! Non-sticky and moisturizing is perfect for windy days with long hair!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
Totally! They’re good for days you want shine but don’t want the stickiness, too!
XtinaRoxx says
U lucky duck. U get to shop at the ABC’s stores and the International Marketplace. I miss Oahu and the pineapple float at Dole Plantation. Yummy yum
Karen says
Hi XtinaRoxx,
Those stores are fun! I end up mostly going to Long’s and the Windward Mall, though, since both are right down the street from my in-law’s house. 🙂
When did you visit Oahu?
XtinaRoxx says

This colour and the texture of the lipstick looks absolutely divine. Have you tried any other colours from the range? Tea Rose suits you perfectly too.
