FACT: the time has finally come to officially take out cold weather clothes here in the Bay Area.
FACT: international kitty models will always out-pose you, no matter how hard you try.
FACT: the KUT from the Kloth Diana Skinny Corduroy pants I’m wearing today could possibly be the best damn pair of corduroy pants on the planet. Maybe even the universe…assuming the aliens out there actually wear pants (most of the aliens I see in movies like to go au naturel).
Sometimes I squirm when companies ironically spell “C” words with a “K” (because using a “K” automatically makes something “Klassy,” like having a grilled cheese sandwich with a glass of red wine…which I was THIS CLOSE to doing last night, not gonna lie), but it seems totally appropriate in this case (kase?).
Pants, to borrow a phrase from that old-school Run-D.M.C. song, can be tricky. Unless you’re genetically blessed with perfect proportions, it can be really difficult to find a pair that fits. Most of the ones I try on are a little off in one way or another. They’re either too long, falling off my butt or making my muffin top look even more…muffiny. 🙂
But these are perfect! They embrace my curves without bear hugging ’em.
At $70, they’re a little pricey, but they’re so well made that I want to wear them every single day of the week.
Why these pants?
- So comfy! They’re like the Pajama Jeans of corduroy pants! The material (98% cotton and 2% spandex) has just the right amount of give to it (so I can eat that extra scoop of mashed potatoes), but it’s not so elastic that it’s all stretched out by the middle of the day. Oh, and the corduroy feels as soft as my tubby tabby’s tum. 🙂
- A forgiving fit. I usually find something that bugs me about most pairs of pants (I’m short with long legs and a short torso!), but these are just so forgiving and easy to wear. They have a mid-rise that sits up pretty high on my waist, covering my muffin top, and my bum doesn’t hang out when I’m bending or kneeling. I also don’t have to constantly hike them up or keep adjusting.
- Quality construction. I’ve had mine for about a year, and they’ve held up really well. This is some sturdy corduroy here, and I haven’t had any problems with holes or unraveling seams. The color also looks as rich as ever.
I brought them home in basic black because I wanted something I could wear with lots of different tops and sweaters, but they come in some other colors, too, like this here hot pink…
The price is on the steep side for a pair of pants, but compared to higher-end skinnies, which often go for $200 a pop (crazy!), $70 doesn’t seem too bad…
If you’re interested, stalk the Nordstrom site, because I do see these on sale every once in a while (that’s how I found them last year).
They’re easy to dress up or down, too, and you can wear ’em with heels, flats or boots.
What a nice pair of pants!
Even Tabs is a fan. 🙂
You can find ’em now at Nordstrom stores and nordstrom.com.
Why, yes, I think I will have a refill
I recently started thinking about holiday shopping and wanted to share something with ya. If you like giving food-related gifts to co-workers and friends, check out Lamill coffee. They’re a small brand from SoCal.
I had a cup last summer on a dinner date with some foodie friends and liked it so much that I made a note (I actually made a note in my phone) to pick up a couple bags to give as Christmas gifts.
Lamill compares the stuff to fine wine, like with different notes and whatnot among the blends. My palette isn’t really that refined, and I can’t identify many of the individual flavors in the blends, but I know this much: their House Organic Blend? OM NOM NOM!
So smooth… So tasty…
Wow, what time is it? Is 5:30 too late for coffee?? It isn’t, right? (Please say it isn’t.)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love the cat! Haha, that’s perfect.
Karen says
Thanks! His name is Tabs and he runs my life, LOL!

Looking good, Hot Stuff! I generally have a pretty strong aversion to corduroy… Pretty sure it’s cause as a child my mom forced me to wear these awful frumpy puke tan cords that I absolutely hated! However, those don’t even look particularly “cord-like” at all. They look hot AND comfy! My kinda combo!!!
Karen says
Hi KhaliaNicole,
Ha, I think I had a pair of those pants when I was a kid, too. These are super cool cords! You will love them.
futuralon says
I’m glad you found some good pants. I like KUTS, they’re good quality.
Karen says
Hi Futralon,
It’s so hard to find good ones! Now I want every single color.
Victoria says
Love the cords and I love your shoes, where did you get them from?
Karen says
Hi Victoria,
They’re by Sam Edelman. Here’s a couple pics:

Those pants look realllly good on you……..And Tabs is awesome as always:)
Karen says
Thanks, Monika! I’ll tell Tabs you send your regards. 😀
Haley says
I would happily pay $200 for these cords if I could slip them on on look as svelt and stylish!
Karen says
Hi Haley,
These pants are magical! 🙂 I hope you give ’em a try…
Marina says
You have a great figure! And Tabs has a good taste 😉
Karen says
Hi Marina,
It’s the pants working their magic, seriously!
Marla says
Those pants look really cute and I love the shoes!
Karen says
Thanks, Marla!
AmandaM says
I just have to comment that I love the fact that Tabs managed to pose with his backside in every picture of you modeling the pants!
Karen says
LOL, Amanda! He is such a funny little guy. Every single time I took a pic he ran up to get in the shot. 🙂
Ruchita says
First of all, I love how Tabs’ fluffy bum is in every shot. 🙂
I have a coupon from Nordstrom that I need to use so I will have to see if these are available in my size. I’m used to paying more for pants, b/c it’s hard to find ones since I’m only 5’0″. 🙂
Karen says
Do you like how he worked his angles? He’s learned so much from Tyra and Miss J. 😀
Girl, I so feel your pants pain!! Do you have any cuts/brands to recommend?
Ruchita says
I like jeans and pants from The Gap. I don’t remember the exact name, but I think its the Sexy Boot jeans that I really like. I find that the ankle length is perfect to wear with a slight heel. For work I like the Christie fit from Victoria’s Secret.
I like my pants to be the perfect length with heels so sometime I’ll buy the regular length and just get them hemmed. One of my pet peeves is pants that are too short!
Karen says
Thanks for these recs, Ruchita. I’m adding both to the Pants List (LOL!). Hopefully these will help me stay outta my sweats. No Pajama Jeans for this girl (well, not yet, at least).
Nina says
Great pants, and id say the price is actually right. My fave jeans are the Gap 1969s Always Skinny and they are in the same price range. Plus Gap always excludes denims from their promotion codes. They do go on sale after each season but finding my size while on sale can be tricky (short/ankle lengths always get snapped up first).
I will check these out! Thank you for the great tip!
Karen says
Hi Nina,
I’ll have to try those jeans. Are they low- or mid- rise?
Oh, and I feel your pain about the shorts/ankle lengths always being MIA, le sigh!
Nina says
They have it in both rises, I think. 🙂
Yep its hard to buy pants when youre a shortie!
Karen says
Oh, sweet. I’m going to the mall tonight (hopefully for a movie), so if I have extra time before the flick I’ll try a few pairs on. 🙂
Stephanie says
Two words, Karen. Anniversary Sale.
They’re usually about $50 during the anniversary sale at Nordstrom every July. Look for them then, they’ve usually got a full rack of their jeans on sale.
Karen says
Cool, thanks Stephanie! Hopefully I’ll remember to pick these up when July rolls around. 🙂
Katrina says
I love Kut! I have two pairs of pants from them, and while I think they run a little small, sizing up usually gets a good fit. I have boyfriend jeans and bootcut cords…I think I will have to try these skinnies!
Karen says
Hi Katrina,
I’ll have to try both those styles! Oh, and thanks for the tip on sizing up.
Iris says
I’m glad to see cords are making a comeback. A few years ago, it was difficult to find stylish ones. I’ll have to see if this brand is available in Canada. They sound like they’re priced right for the quality and how good they look.
I like how they’re available in black and blue along with more on-trend colours.
Verena says
Nice Pants, Karen!
(OMG, Kut is Dutch for a really nasty word, 😀 )
Tabs is awesome as usual, I hope you two are doing fine!
