Thanks to Chanel, I’m turning peachy beige! First it was my nails. Then my cheeks and lips, and now my eyes!
This summer, Chanel die-hards with a weakness for uber-natural makeup eye looks and the Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil line won’t have to scrounge around for an eyeliner to light up their lash and water lines — not with the new Peche Cuivre waiting expectantly on counters.
Is your eyeliner makeup mojo more about subtle definition than crisp, sharp lines? If it is, feast your lids on this limited edition shimmery shade. It graces lids with a shy hint of shimmery, peachy beige — nothing fussy, frightening or overdone — and it even comes with a convenient pencil sharpener.
I guess that’s the least Chanel could do for asking $28 for it…
It’s also boldly emblazoned with that gorgeous logo, there to remind you of life’s luxuries while you sharpen it in the restroom at work (been there, done that!).
Now, I love Chanel. Let me just get that out there. 🙂 And I like seeing this shade on my eyes — I’ve been wearing it along my upper and lower lash lines with some of the darker shade from the Ombres Contrastes Duo in Sable-Émouvant along my upper lashes — but the texture leaves a little something to be desired.
It’s not nearly as smooth as similar pencils in the same price range (have you tried the Dolce & Gabbana Intense Khols yet? So great!), and sometimes it tugs at my skin.
Thirty seconds under a hairdryer set on low softens it up, but really, who wants to do that?
Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Peche Cuivre ($28)
- One of two limited edition eyeliners in the Summertime de Chanel collection
- Adds soft peachy beige shimmer and definition to lash and water lines; also works well as a base for the Ombres Contrastes Duo in Sable-Émouvant
- Lasts between 6-8 hours for me
- A good fit for Chanel fans who like their liners to whisper, and not shout, or for anyone looking for a way to look more awake
PRICE: $28
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Chanel counters and chanel.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I love the color, wear time and how it brightens up my eyes, but I wish it was a little softer)
Brunch with the fam
Just a few quick pics from yesterday’s Mom’s Day brunch…
We drove to an older neighborhood near Union City called the Niles district. There’s an old train station there and some cute antique stores and restaurants. While we waited for out table, we walked around, did some window shopping and caught up.
My mom and dad
My mom, brother, and his girlfriend, who stopped by to say a quick hi before heading to her parent’s house
Brunch was at this small place called The Vine. It’s a laid-back little spot that serves yummy comfort food.
I was starved and couldn’t decide what to get, so I ordered two things. 🙂 I got the smoked salmon and egg bruschetta, and the pancakes, which we all shared.
My brother and mom ordered the chicken fried steak…
And my dad got an omelet…
But the highlight of the meal actually came in a pitcher. LOL! A pitcher of guava mimosas. Sparkling wine, guava puree and fresh mint leaves, yum!
Our server hooked us up and was very generous with the sparkling wine part. Needless, to say, all of us were a little loopy by the end of the meal, haha!
Great food, good service and highly recommended if you’re ever in the area. It’s a tiny place, though, with just a handful of tables, so be prepared for a bit of a wait.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love the look of this liner! Even though it’s a bit harder, I think I will still get it. I’m loving the really unique shades, and I’ve never quite seen one like this yet! I love how wide awake your eyes look. Pretty!
Karen says
Hi Tracy,
This will look pretty on you, especially as a highlight along the lower lash line and the inner corner. I can’t remember — did you end up picking up the duo from this launch?
Happy Monday!
Tracy says
Yay! Then I will get it. No, I haven’t gotten around to the counter yet-tomorrow! 🙂
Oh, and your Mom and Dad are so cute!!!
Karen says
Have fun! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do at the Chanel counter (HAHAHA!). Actually I was just there yesterday. I did a drive by on my way to pick up some blue mascara over at YSL!
Aww, thanks for that. I heart my mom and dad! 🙂
Louise @ A Little Beauty Luxury says
I was so excited when I saw this in the Summer collection. Unfortunately I just can’t take hard liners like this! I hate the feeling of tugging and scraping a liner along my lash line. I was hoping this would be more like previous limited edition Chanel pencils such as Rose Platine. Oh well!
Karen says
Hi Louise,
Rose Platine was really good. I like the twist up packaging too.
What else caught your eye from this launch?
cncx says
color-wise, how is it compared to Rose Platine? I only have one BU of Rose Platine left, I wear it every day. On pics this looks close enough but more gold?
Karen says
Hi CNCX,
Rose Platine applies as more of a taupe on my skin, while this color is more peach. Here’s a swatch:

Ava says
I’ve had to pass on all the Chanel pencils because they drag on my eyelids. The new YSL and Armani pencils are much smoother.
Karen says
Hi Ava,
Have you tried the new Dolce Khols? They’re silky smooth, pigmented and in the same price range. I really like them a lot!
Ava says
Thanks, Karen, I’ll give them a try. I’ve given up on Chanel pencils (though not anything else!); it would be nice to have other light-colored pencils to highlight with!
Karen says
You’re welcome, Ava. They have a white shade that really brightens up the lower lashline:

Hope you had a great Wednesday!
Astrid says
Hmm… I’ll pass on the tugging eyeliner too (even though the color is lovely!). Btw, what did you wear on your cheeks? I’d love that, so radiant and summerish!
Karen says
Hi Astrid,
I’m wearing Rimmel Match Perfection in 004 Medium/Dark:

Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
Oooo I got this yesterday and after I photographed it I gave it a test run. I have to say I’m pretty impressed! True it COULD be softer, but still it’s definitely on the “I feel like I’m poking my eyes out with this pencil” side, and IT ACTUALLY STAYED ON MY LOWER WATERLINE FOR 8 HOURS until I decided to remove it!
Of course I’ll have to give it more test runs before I can make up my mind, but at the moment I’m totally in awe!
Karen says
Cool! That’s a fab wear time.
Kim says
Thank you so much for mentioning the texture and tugging. I started out with “meh, I don’t need this”, then saw the photo of the pencil and the swatch and changed to “ooooh, maybe I do need this”. You saved me with the texture, though. I can’t stand scratchy or tugging so definitely not for me!!
Karen says
Hi Kim,
You’re welcome. This is a great color, I gotta say… maybe just try it next time you got to the counter just for kicks!
Megan says
Too bad it’s a hard liner. The color is beautiful! Can you recommend a liner in a similar color that’s a little softer?
Karen says
Hi Megan,
The more I think about it, the more I realize that I don’t have anything quite like this shade. Make Up For Ever has a Aqua Eyes liner that’s kinda close called Champagne. It’s more pink though, and lacks the bronze tones.
Nina says
Your family looks so happy !!! 🙂
I want that pitcher of guava mimosas STAT!
I was introduced to guava juice by accident. We usually grab a carton of watermelon juice at the grocery store since its good to add to some water to give it a bit of sweetness. The Hubs grabbed guava instead of watermelon one time, and I fell in love! Now, we get both. 😉
Karen says
Hi Nina,
Guava juice is the bomb.com! I like the fruit too (although, El Hub has told me one too many stories about eating guava in Hawaii as a kid and finding worms, ewww).
You could probably make the mimosa at home. Just add sparkling wine and some mint and NOM NOM NOM!
Danielle says
I love this pencil- though I too wish it were softer. I picked this up a few weeks ago when the collection hit my local counter. I find it to be nicer than some of the other champagne liners (like MAC’s Eye Get No Kick or Urban Decay’s Midnight Cowboy) in terms of color because it’s a little more subtle with the bronze tones to it.
Karen says
Hi Danielle,
True that. The color is pretty special!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
whoa, your eyes look seriously BRIGHT! Want!
…but honestly, I want the smoked salmon and egg bruschetta even MORE! That looks sooooo amazing, and I wouldn’t mind a guava mimosa myself! I need to go hunting for a similar restaurant this weekend to satisfy my craving 🙂
Karen says
Thanks!!! I am always looking for ways to look less tired, so yay!
Katherine G says
Your brunch with the fam looked amazing! Your parents are a good-looking pair! I haven’t tried anything from Chanel yet mainly because the department store salespeople around where I live can be somewhat rude. You’d think if you’re thinking about investing in their stuff they’d be more polite. Oh well. One day I may get some Chanel stuff just to have some higher end makeup. Their No.5 perfume was a staple of my Italian grandmother’s for years. Your Chanel makeup always looks so classy and fun!
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
Yeah, I love them to pieces. They are fun and I’ll miss them when they leave!
Anywho, that’s a bummer that the gals at Chanel aren’t very nice. If you ever visit SF, you need to see Rocky over at Neimans. He is THE BEST. So nice, knowledgable and down to earth. He’ll get you hooked on the line for sure. 😉
Oh, and if you ever want to make an online purchase and need some recs let me know. I’d be happy to help!
Chelsea says
I know if I go play with this at the Chanel counter, my friends there will convince me to buy it, so I better not look! The color name really perfectly describes the color – peach-copper is the literal translation 🙂
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
The Chanel gals seem to have that magical power. I swear I go there for one thing and end up lusting over half the counter. 🙂
