You know what they should give out during mass at the Church of Chanel? Coupon codes. Or maybe instead of a church raffle they could hold a friends & family sale (hint, hint, Karl!).
Wishful thinking, right? Yeah, I get the feeling we’ll be waiting a long time before we see a big sale at Chanel. I’d be less surprised to see one of the aliens from Mars Attacks win a gold medal in figure skating (“Ack! Ack!”).
But if you’re willing to throw down $65 (!) for the new limited edition SoHo de Chanel Highlighting Powder and Blush, maybe you won’t care how well the aliens do at some future Olympics because your cheeks will radiate an otherworldly glow.
Coupled with the package’s striking good looks (LOVE the design on the pan!), this is Chanel at the top of their game, and the only thing holding it back is the price.
Wear each of the pan’s three finely-milled powders separately — a light reddish plum, a pinkish ivory and a peachy pink — or swirl a brush over all three to mix them for a soft, shimmery glow (I prefer the latter).
The concept reminds me of $28 Benefit Sugarbomb, a boxed powder blush with shades of peach, plum, pink and rose. It was released earlier this year, but it’s not an exact dupe. Sugarbomb seems a little more obvious than SoHo does to me (it packs more glittery shimmer), and its colors are farther from SoHo’s reddish plum.
Still, $28 compared to $65? Ouch.
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: Expensive? — absolutely. But if you like the look of plums on your skin, and/or you’re a devout Chanel acolyte, it might be worth your affections. Available at the Chanel SoHo store and chanel.com. Grade: B+

This looks lovely on you! I wish I could afford this one. The price really stings. I may have to try Benefit Sugarbomb though. 🙂

I think even if I WOULD buy it for $65, I wouldn’t dare to touch it – because it would be too precious for me to touch it with a brush! *haha* 🙂

I’m ok with spending $42 on a regular Chanel blush, but $65 is sort of outrageous, even though you may be getting a little more product. A bit overpriced, but STILL gorgeous as hell<333

This looks amazing on you. I go through blush so slowly that I could possibly be convinced to part with $65 — except I think I will likely get another year out of my current blush pan! 😀

That is so pretty and you look awesome w/ it on! But oh my at the price!
Kim says
It looks great on you but, price aside, I can just picture myself trying to get only one color on my brush without touching the others. It would be pretty comical! I think I could handle the swirl, though. 🙂

Wow, it does look beautiful on you!

This is awesome…but the price hurts 🙁

Gorgeous if you’re a collector…insanely overpriced but it’s pretty on you. Reminds me of Dior Sunrise Pary too.

Ooh, I wish it wasn’t so pricey (and maybe a little easier to get), because I really love those plums! I’m lemming Stunt too, but I think it’s sold out!
LOL! “We come in peace…” BzzzZap!

I am such a sucker for packaging, but wow, is that ever expensive!

Love it! I’m not unwilling to drop the dollars for products I really want- but honestly, I don’t think I’m too keen on spending $65 on a blush- as gorgeous at it is (with the Chanel name attached).
