Once upon a time there lived a $35 lip balm named Aura.
She was beloved by all of the fabulous forest creatures and magical makeup mavens, myself included, because of her devil-may-care, mega-moisturizing formula and her totally low-maintenance point of view.
Like other products in the forest, she had powers, too. She was much more than a mere lip balm. She could summon a smooth texture and enough pigment to allow makeup lovers to skip liner and just apply her directly on their lips from her tube — even without a mirror!
Pretty incredible.
For their États Poétiques fall 2014 collection, Chanel added four new Coco Shine shades in soft pink Intime, fuchsia Viva, rosy Confident and plum Aura.
My dry lips kicked it last weekend with two of them — Intime and Aura, woo-hoo! — and a good time was had by all. 🙂
For the ultimate in causal pinks, there’s Intime. Neither too warm, nor too cool, Intime actually shows up on my pigmented lips, which is unusual for pinks like this; I’ve been wearing it a lot.
I think Aura is just as beautiful and remarkably easy to wear. It appears really dark in the tube, but applies with less intensity than that — almost like Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick, but with a plummier reddish tone.
Lip colors typically turn toward opaque and matte for fall, so I’m a little surprised to see Chanel go shiny and sheer.
I like it. It’s different and fun, and yes — easy! Plus, I like the idea of sheer, shiny lips to go with more intense fall eye makeup looks.
Obvs, the $35 price tag per tube is a lot, and these might not be the most groundbreaking lip colors in the kingdom, but if you’re looking to splurge on something fabulous you could wear every day, I bet you could wear these super wearable workhorses down to the nub.
You can find them now online at chanel.com and coming soon to Chanel counters and boutiques.
Currently craving…
What the heck happened to the day, babe? It was just this morning!
Not that I’m complaining. Tomorrow is Friday.
Are you doing anything fun tonight? I’m craving Italian food (BIG surprise), particularly tiramisu.
Dessert is a food, isn’t it? 🙂

the shades look gorg! might be a little too pale on me, but I’m still loving how the eyeshadows look! <3

I thought they might be too light for my skin tone, too, but they actually work. Try them out! You never know.

Aura is a great fall transition shade.

Yup!

Ooh, that tiramisu looks delicious! And I’m loving the look of Aura, too — the world needs more sheer lipsticks that are actually HYDRATING. 😉

Hello, Friend! TGIF! Aura is gorgeous on you, but do we have to think about fall already? 🙂 I picked up a tube of Le Volume (finally) a month or so ago and it reminds me a lot of Hypnose. I like them both better after the formula dries out a bit, if that makes sense. I’m trying to catch up on older posts to see how you’ve been doing. A-OK here, just crazy busy, of course. Btw, the boys want to try the trumpet next year (middle school band). I thought of you. 🙂

I know! It’s always so weird thinking about all the smokey, heavier makeup when it’s still June. It won’t stop me though. Did you get anything else from Chanel besides the mascara?
Awww, I hope the boys end up liking band (BAND GEEKS 4 LIFE!). It was one of the best experiences for me in middle and high school.
I hope you’re doing ok. I figured you’ve just been super busy!

Both colors are beautiful! I wish Intime was a little more pigmented though. The color is so pretty!

For fall I prefer more of matte and deep shade.. Aura looks quite intense but intime is good too for breaking those gothic lip days.. 🙂
Chanel is pretty fast to launch Fall collection while it is still June.. 😛
