Like Swiss timing, Chanel is all about precision … the new Precision line of facial cleansers and toners, that is. Have you given ’em a sniff yet? With a fresh floral scent, a hefty price tag and minimalist, elegant packaging, they’re a lovely, indulgent way to clean your purty face.
Tulip Tree extract is the star ingredient. The Chanel marketing folks claim it protects skin from air pollution, something those of us living near cities can appreciate. Within the Precision line are products targeting three skin types, ranging from Balance for normal skin, Purity for oily skin and Comfort for dry and sensitive skin types.
I have dry skin, and to deal with it I’ve been using Creamy Cleansing Milk from the Chanel Precision Comfort range ($45). I haven’t yet used any of the other products from the Precision line, but Creamy Cleansing Milk compares favorably to Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple, probably my all around favorite facial cleanser of all time.
While I’d say Precision Comfort feels richer and smells a little better than Purity Made Simple does, Philosophy’s bad boy has one huge advantage — PRICE! A 24-oz bottle of Purity sells for $40, or about $1.66 an ounce. A 5-oz bottle of Chanel Cleansing Milk, on the other hand, sells for $45, or a staggering $9 an ounce. Tres expensive, oui?
Chanel Precision Comfort Creamy Cleansing Milk
Price: $45 for a 5-oz bottle
Use: A moisturizing makeup remover and facial cleanser for dry and sensitive skin
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B
It’s always safe to assume anything by Chanel is going to cost an arm and a leg, and true to form Cleansing Milk isn’t exactly budget friendly, but it is a nice way to splurge if your aim is to find a luxurious and high quality facial cleanser for dry and sensitive skin.

How’s it going? What have you been up to today? Right now I’m eating a tuna sandwich and reading the Benefit Fall 2008 catalog. I’m really interested in the fall lipsticks. They sure look pretty.

I love the look of Chanel’s packaging. Its one of the things on my list for “when I’m a grown up” – I’d like to have my bathroom shelf adorned wtih the most stylish/pretty bottles of stuff I can find. How shallow am I? LOL

In fact, Chanel’s Skincare range is as good as expensive! Just let me say that if the cleansing milk costs USD40 there, here it will be EUR40 (OMG! USD58)!
As if all spaniards were able to spend THAT MUCH in a cleansing milk!*cries*
Oh! Yesterday I finished Twilight so today I’m going to buy New Moon. Thanks for showing me the existence of these books, I’m really enjoying the story!
Hugs!

Hi Marisol,
They’re nice but pricey — ahh, the story of my Chanel lovin’ life.
Karen says
Hi Lucky,
Glad that they got to ya safe and sound. Enjoy!
Karen says
Hi Beth,
Ha! You aren’t the only one who longs for a grown up bathroom with pretty products. I really would like a shelf like that, too. 🙂

Hi Alison,
I haven’t tried any of her products. I’ve been hopelessly addicted to Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple for the past few months and this is the first thing that has got me to even consider straying. Thanks for the rec, though. What type of skin do you have?
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Yeah, I hear ya. I want to try the toner too but I think I’ll have to wait till after Cult of Cherry.
Karen says
Hi Eru,
Wow, you read very fast. Twilight is probably my favorite book out of the entire series. I’m glad that you’re liking the story so far!

Hi Karen,
I have normal/combination skin that can sometimes be sensitive.

Hey I’ve been following your blog for quite sometimes and I am in love with the Chanel swatches. i recently went on this Chanel haul and pretty much most of the fall collection all three lip glosses, the eye shadows, the blush, and the highlighter. Though it was a hurting my credit card, I’ll just think of it as an early birthday present from myself (I’m turning 21 soon! yay!). Anyways on top of that, the Nordstrom SA gave me a 5 mL sample of the Mousse Confort and I have to say, I saw the difference the morning after I cleanse my skin–it even got rid of the hyperpigmentation from some past breakouts. I used the rest of the sample for the week and as soon as it ran out, I went to the counter and got cleanser. It’s nice because you can use a little and it does the job. The only part i don’t like is hard plastic squeeze bottle as oppose to a soft squeeze, it took a few days to learn how to dispense it to the smaller portions.

Hi Alison,
Mine is normal on good days! Mostly it’s dry. Maybe I’ll look into her stuff for dry skin. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Julie S.,
NICE HAUL! And happy birthday, indeed. You’ll get so much use out of all of those lovely shades… you can work it for job interviews, dates, everything!
Happy early birthday! 🙂

I love Chanel! I have one of the moisturisers and it’s AMAZING!! Chanel is quite expensive though and I am completely happy with my current skincare routine. I use Liz Earle Cleanse + Polish followed by Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic and then my moisturiser. I try to do this every morning and night and i dont always remember but all my friends and people at the beauty counters always comment on what good skin I have and ask what I use. Liz Earle is suitable for all skin types but does have 3 different options of moisturisers (oily/normal/dry). Everyone I know who uses Liz Earle loves the moisturiser but i’m hooked on my Chanel.
Ooooops sorry for going on for ages but seriously, Liz Earle is great!
Megan says
Oh I forgot to mention that it’s also very cheap compared to most good quality skincare. Not only that but over here in Britain it has won countless awards for being best cleanser!
