Sung to the tune of the chorus in Katy Perry’s California Girls…
Aw-qua-lumieres
You’re unforgettable
When you left town
It broke my heart
Now that you’re back
Any-thing is possible
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!
I feel like singin’. Every time I wear the Chanel Aqualumieres in French Toffee and Friandise, I see the world in a slightly better light. For the briefest of moments, the world seems less cruel, and I no longer feel the urge to shake my fist at the sky and roar, “WHY!? WHY CAN’T EVERY GIRL EXPERIENCE THE WONDERS OF CANDY GLOW!?”
Now that these limited edition glosses, which had been part of the permanent line but subsequently disappeared for a while, have returned to the Chanel line via the Les Delices de Chanel collection, I have hope again. Hope that no more makeup hearts will fall broken and shattered on glittery sidewalks. Perhaps Chanel will even bring back more of the colors, either permanently or in future limited edition releases like this one.
They’re just as wonderful as the ones I remember from Chanel’s permanent line. Mmm… They feel so good on my lips. Not sticky at all, and they’re bursting with moisture. They also have a barely there vanilla flavor and scent.
Gals who prefer long-wearing glosses might not like the limited two-hour wear time, but at least they feel great.
If you like the look of a nude lip but don’t want intense pink or peach tones, there’s shimmery sheer beige French Toffee, which should look really pretty with something like MAC Cork, or a golden brown nude lip pencil.
According to my friend the Google Translator, the name of the second shade, Friandise, means “treat” in French, and that it is. A sheer hot pink with silver sparkle, it’s flashy enough to stand on its own.
Both shades have these neat, subtle effects that makeup nerds may love, like how when you’re wearing one, you can still see a hint of your natural lip color peeking through. I think that’s pretty cool.
I also like the moment when you finish brushing one of these on your lips (they have a brush-tip applicator) and catch a glimpse of light dancing across the tiny bits of glitter, or how the finish shines like a fresh coat of nail polish.
Um, Karl? Sir? Just cut the bullsh*t and bring this line of bad boys back already! Please?

Speaking of Chanel…
Raul (the bald spot on my left brow) and I are experiencing may-jah brow envy right now. We’re (okay, I am) envious of the bold brows that stalked the runway during Chanel’s 2013-4 Fall/Winter Haute Couture show.
The look’s a little cray, but I’m kinda feelin’ it. It’s very Rock Me Amadeus.
In other news, Chanel fall. The collection’s called Collection Superstition, and you can find the whole kit and caboodle online at chanel.com now.
I’m intrigued by the cream blushes, nail polishes and the quad, of course.
A’ight! That’s a wrap for me. I’m off to bed, babe. Hope you had a great day. Happy Fourth of July Eve, and may you dream of Chanel… 🙂

Beautiful pictures and the glosses look gorgeous. But I love your eye make up! What are you wearing? And also, I am really excited about those Chanel cream blushes. I have read a lot of amazing reviews on them. The only problem is choosing just one color 🙂
Happy 4th of July,Karen!

I’ pretty proud of my eyebrows. I have quite bold brows, but not as much as those models, but then again, neither do they 😉

Girl, I just made an independence day trip to the Chanel counter today. She accidentally gave me the shower gel instead of the lotion, but that just gives me an excuse to go back!
I’m loving the cream blushes. I might have to get one when I go back.

Karen, u look great in torquoise!!!! (Spelling).!! I want that lipgloss, too. I’d gone to a boutique about three years ago that sold them and the SA talked me into getting the Twinkle glossimier instead, but that color is on..the….money!!! Gotta HAVE IT!!!!

I’m slightly worried that the serious caterpillar brow thing is going to come back to haunt us soon….
At least it is easier to pair-down on the brows (and the brow powder) than to re-grow them!
