Like a predictable but enjoyable rom-com, with Chanel’s Cinema Le Vernis Nail Colour, you already know what you’re gonna get.
You’ve only seen the storyline done about a million times before, but still, you watch it anyway and relish every minute.
And after the ending credits roll by and you’ve brushed the stray popcorn from your lap (no judgement if you pluck a wayward kernel from your bra and eat it on the sly), you smile and say to yourself, “I really, really liked that.” 🙂
That’s how I feel about this creamy tomato red.
Cinema, the final installment in the four-part Avant-Premiere nail polish series/family, features the same epic smoothness and pigment-packed formula that also made Starlet, Provocation and Paparazzi big hits with me.
One coat does the job, but I usually wear two (force of habit).
The color? A tomato red, but I think of it as an heirloom… It’s not your average beefsteak, you know what I mean?
It’s bright, particularly around the edges, a lot like Provocation is and seems a lot darker in the bottle than it does on nails. That brightness is my favorite thing about it.
But yeah, it’s a tomato red, and you’re sure to find similar shades from other brands.
Course that doesn’t stop me from enjoying this tomato shade… It’s an easy-to-apply, timeless, classic shade I can wear any time of year.

Speaking of tomatoes…
Some of the cherry tomatoes in my deck garden are finally turning red! 🙂
I can’t wait to eat ’em! I’m already planning my meals…

Here was the surprise of the collection. Cinema snuck up on me. I didn’t expect to like it at all. I was convinced I would fall hard for Provocation and Paparazzi. But after swatching at the counter, and wearing the other 2 in full mani(thanks to my best polish enabling friend) I am head over high heels for Cinema. Do I need another red polish? Heck, no. Do I have anything even close in my vast stash of red Essies, Revlons and OPIs? Again, heck no. So Cinema will be mine! My first Chanel red. And isn’t Chanel famous for their red cream polishes? Weird that I dislike tomatoes in my salads but love them in a lippie or nail shade.
