When I first saw Physicians Formula’s new line, #InstaReady, I thought, “Genius marketing! But there’s no way makeup can really make you more Instagram ready.” After I tried the products, I realized that InstaReady doesn’t really mean anything, aside from having a really good makeup day, and that’s exactly what happened when I tried it.
There’s plenty behind these products that I think deserves mentioning, like how almost all of them contain SPF 30. They also have InstaFilter Technology, which is basically a clever way of saying that they’ll mattify your skin while leaving behind lots of valuable moisture. The InstaFilter Technology also uses high-tech, light-reflecting polymers to blur imperfections and re-texturize the skin.
Now, these are HUGE claims for a product to make, and while I did have a great skin day while using #InstaReady, I didn’t look like I had an Instagram filter over my face… Obviously. But let’s talk a little more about a few of my favorite products from the line, shall we?
To start, I applied the Super BB #InstaReady Beauty Balm BB Cream. Most of the BB creams I’ve used have been light to medium coverage and applied almost like tinted moisturizers, but not this one. This bad boy is full coverage.
In the pro column, and this one’s big, I didn’t need to use any concealer on my blemishes, because they were already covered so well! This has a beautiful semi-matte finish and lasts throughout the day; however, it’s not without a few cons. Like, it’s extremely thick and feels uncomfortable on my skin. You can definitely feel that it’s there, and while the uncomfortable, constricted feeling fades the longer I wear it, I wouldn’t wear this again unless I were wearing full-on makeup that day. It can also look a little cakey, so this isn’t something I’d want to wear if I were going for a no-makeup makeup look.
Overall, though, I really like it, and I’ll wear it the next time I want a flawless complexion! You can see the coverage is bomb here in these before and after pics…
The next stand-out InstaReady product for me is the Super BB #InstaReady Contour Trio BB Stick in Bronze Trio. This little deodorant stick o’ bronzer is truly a dream. Literally, I’ve dreamed of a product that could make contouring a breeze, and here it is in my hot little hand! This guy is definitely going in my everyday makeup drawer and will live there until I die.
It contains the same InstaFilter Technology as the BB cream, so again it’s going to help blur and perfect the skin. It’s also made to be super blendable, which I can attest to. It has a deep contouring shade on the far end, a slightly shimmery bronzing shade in the middle, and a nice highlight on top. All you need to do is paint a cute tiger stripe on each cheek with the deepest shade in the hollow of your cheek, then tap away with your fingers or Beauty Blender. My contour was blended and looking fly in 0.73 seconds.
I recommend it for anyone who loves a good contour, and it would also be stellar for anyone just starting out in the world of faking perfect bone structure, because it’s so fast and easy to use.
Lastly, the magical contouring stick’s sister product, the magical blush stick, also known as the Super BB InstaReady Contour Trio BB Stick in Blush Trio. It’s the exact same product as the contouring stick, just in blush form.
I’m in love with this peachy coral shade, and it should look amazing on any skin tone. I didn’t go to town and draw a huge stripe with this one because of how pigmented it is, but I tapped it on the apples of my cheeks and pulled it back toward my hair line before blending it in with a Beauty Blender. Again, it gave me the most beautiful flush in no time at all!
While I do really like the blush, too, I’m not sure I’d splash out the $12.95 for it, just because it doesn’t seem all that much more exciting than any other blush I own.
Overall, well done, Physicians Formula! You’ve turned an #InstaReady skeptic into a true believer.
What do you think about the Physicians Formula Super BB #InstaReady line? Have you tried it yet, or do you think you will?

The contour stick & the blush stick look pretty promising. And your contour looks awesome. Unfortunately, I don’t really contour, aside from using a bronzer to fake a contour. I’m also just jumping, feet first, into the world of cream blushes. Depending on the shade range, I may have to make one of these blushes mine. Great review.
Sign,
Still LOVING your brows! 🙂

I purchased the blush stick because I was fortunate enough to find it on sale & with a manufacturer’s coupon so it was around $6 plus I had a gift card at that particular store! Otherwise, I agree with you completely on the pricing; I really love the ease of the stick & the lovely resulting flush of color but it’s not spectacular enough to justify the higher price point. Thanks for the great review on all the products!

I’ve never tried contouring, but using a stick makes it look easy to concentrate the color in the right place. The BB cream seems promising too. Thanks for the review!

The pricey blush and heaviness of the foundation aside, these products sound fabulous. You may not look exactly like you’re walking around with your own irl insta filter, but you do look pretty darn amazing! Thanks for the helpful review.

I only just started venturing into contour, so I would love to give that stick a go.

I would love to try the bb and contour stick

Those sticks and BB are pretty good looking. I’d skip the BB but I hate products that feel like that. I had enough of that in the 80’s and 90’s!

I hadn’t heard of this, but now I’m interested! Wonder if they have darker shades for the BB cream 🙂

Sadly they only have Light, and Light/Medium! I will never understand that, there are more than 2 skin tones out there! Haha

Besides a great article, your eyebrows are everything I’ve ever wanted in life. Just thought you should know!

Hi Jen, really liked reading your blog. The pictures really helped in identifying the products as well as your step-by-step directions. Plus you have beautiful skin! Sounds like Physicians formula products are affordable and won’t break the bank. Where can you find them? I’d might try the contouring and blush. I really like the color of the blush.

Hey chicky! You can find Physicians Formula at most US drug stores (CVS for sure, I would think probably Walgreens and other such places too), as well as places like Walmart (for sure) and Target (probably?). I know they even carry a limited selection at my local-chain grocery store.
Their stuff is a little pricier than other drug store makeup, but they have some pretty decent products. I’ve heard great things about their fiber lash kit as well, recently… Hope that helps! 🙂 xx

Good job!

I definitely agree! Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

I won’t lie, I was skeptical at first. But oh my, the result looks so nice on your skin!

I really like the look of the contour stick after you’ve blended it in. I didn’t think it would work that well!
Kim says
That contour stick looks amazing and I love the idea of quick and easy blending. What’s the wear time like? Cream products tend to wave bye-bye fairly quickly, even in my drier cheek area.
Jen Clark says
Hey Kim! I am the same way, cream doesn’t like to stick around on my skin for long. I ALWAYS set any sort of cream contour I do with a powder bronzer and that keeps it locked in all day long. 🙂

I’ve been searching high and low for a cheap(ish), easy-to-use, quick contouring kit. This PF contouring stick sounds very promising! Going to have to try it ASAP! Thanks for sharing <3

I really think this might be what you’ve been on the hunt for! I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

I really like the results that contour stick gave you! I might have to try that out

Your eyeliner looks amazing! Can’t believe the contour stick actually worked.

The marketing is making me cringe, justtt a teeny bit but they actually look like usable products!
P.S. your brows and skin are everything
