Buxom, bareMinerals and the phrase “Bay Area,” which is where both of the aforementioned companies are headquartered (in San Francisco), all start with the letter “B,” as does the word “bad@ss,” which is what you probably are if you’ve already finished your holiday shopping.
Have you?! Because if you have, I bow down!
For the rest of us penitent procrastinators, there are fewer than 10 weeks left till Christmas! We’re in the single digits now, so if you need help with gift ideas for the makeup lovers in yo’ life, consider these new holiday sets from Buxom and bareMinerals.
Both lines launched their limited edition holiday collections last month, and here are some of the best gifting options, IMO. 🙂
Your favorite teen might freak out when she opens the Buxom Leave Your Mark ($59) or Don’t Miss a Beat ($32) mini Lip Polish sets. Both have such fun packaging! — and they come with so many sheer, shiny glosses.
I know quite a few lip lovers who would squee at finding the new bareMinerals Love at First Kiss collection ($36) of full-coverage Moxie Lipsticks under the tree.
The 10 little lipsticks are all petite, but they aren’t so tiny that you can’t apply them straight from their tubes/bullets. They’re also creamy and comfortable.
I love the awesome names, too, like Be Brilliant, Make Your Move and Lead the Way. They’re so inspirational! I bet my mom and my mom-in-law would really like these.
I also always like to have one or two extra just-in-case beauty gifts all wrapped up and ready to go because you never know when you’ll need a last-minute emergency option, and both the bareMinerals The Royal Court Blush Palette ($29) and the Modern Fairytale set ($45) look perfect for that. Both are neutral enough to kick butt on most skin tones.
Check out the video at the top for a closer look and more details. 🙂

I wouldn’t say no if someone gifted me Love at First Kiss!
Karen says
Yes! It’s such a cute kit, right?
Rachel R. says
I was thinking the same thing!
Kim says
Those look so cute. What are your thoughts on the Sephora give me more lip set?
Karen says
Hi Kim,
I haven’t tried that one out yet but I saw it in the store and noticed a few of my favorites in the line up! I really like the Buxom glosses, the NARS and the Urban Decay lipsticks and the Clinique Chubby stick in the set. Are you thinking about getting it? Seems like a good variety of colors and finishes!
Kim says
Yes! it is on my Christmas wishlist and I will probably pick it up during the VIB sale. I can’t seem to be able to choose between the lip set or the new Kevin Aucoin palette. I’m making my VIB wishlist and checking it twice 🙂

I only started getting my Christmas shopping done, and that is because a website I frequent quite often had a REN skincare sale (I picked up stuff for my sister) and a special offer on Japanese knives, which are great for Mr. Loca. If it hadn’t been for these sales, I wouldn’t even had thought about shopping for gifts yet…
Karen says
Yay for sales! Funny how all boys seem to love knives, lol.

Must be genetics.

Heck yeah, let’s gift something to ourselves, good idea! 🙂 Those two Buxom lip sets really do look awesome. The first three shades in Don’t Miss A Beat look really pretty. Also liking the look of the BareMinerals trio, very pretty.
Karen says
Super pretty!

I’m really liking the size and color selection of the Love At First Kiss set. I’ll have to go searching for some more swatches on someone pale 🙂
As for holiday shopping, I haven’t started. Since 2010 when my hubs joined “The Man” we’ve been on a shoestring budget. I used to be a Christmas maniac with tons of decor and gifts for everyone when I was the breadwinner. Since the tables are turned and we’ve only got about 1/3 of our previous income, Christmas has lost it’s magic for me in many ways. I’m kind of a gift-giving-a-holic.
My family currently does a name draw with a $30 to $50 limit. We participate in that and then get something small for each other. Last year we also bought our neighbors some small gifts for them and their kids but they have moved away last week, back to Germany!
Last year we saved all summer to throw an EPIC holiday party for my husbands new workmates after the move and only one person showed up after an RSVP of 35. It’s the only time my husband has ever really shown holiday spirit and he was just crushed. The worst part was, most of the people decided to go on a ski trip weekend together and didn’t invite him.
Needless to say after last years debacle, I highly doubt he’ll want to do anything related to Christmas other than a meal 🙁
Karen says
That party would have REALLY ticked me off, Erin! I can’t believe so many people RSVP’d and then didn’t show up!?
I go through Christmas gifting phases, but overall we’re definitely toning things down more than we used to. Among our families, the adults get the things they really want on their own, so there’s no point in getting pricey gifts for each other. It’s too hard these days. Everything is so expensive, and people have their own things they need to get, so hopefully this year we do something different. We’re talking about going to the opera with my in-laws instead of exchanging gifts at all. That sounds like fun. I hope everyone sticks to the plan though.

I like the lip sticks and gloss sets. Last year I gave eyeshadow makeup gift sets to my niece and girlfriends. This year I may do lip sets and these look like a good option!
