It started with pics of the new Dream Bouncy Blushes and my ’90s hip-hop playlist.
Next thing I knew, Jay-Z was bumping on iTunes, and I was bouncing with Hov, directly in front of my office window. I was on my feet, waving one of Maybelline’s new $8 blushes to the beat when I glanced outside and saw my neighbor staring up at me from his front door with a look like “she’s crazy.”
Haha! Hella moded…
Oh, don’t even pretend like you’re too cool for school. 🙂 I bet you’d be bopping right along with me, having just as much fun with these sheer cream blushes as I do.
Wearing Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Hot Tamale and giving props to Jay-Z…
Clockwise from the bright pink pan in the lower left hand corner: 05 Fresh Pink, 10 Pink Frosting, 15 Rose Petal, 20 Peach Satin and 30 Candy Coral
Clockwise from the bright reddish pan in the lower left hand corner: 70 Hot Tamale, 40 Pink Plum, 45 Orchid Hus, 50 Plum Wine and 60 Coffee Cake
Swatches from the left: 05 Fresh Pink, 10 Pink Frosting, 15 Rose Petal, 20 Peach Satin and 30 Candy Coral
40 Pink Plum, 45 Orchid Hush, 50 Plum Wine, 60 Coffee Cake and 70 Hot Tamale
They’re domed-shaped with a springy, bouncy consistency that reminds me of marshmallow Peeps, Twinkies and really soft gummy bears (yes, I’m hungry), and they feel as light on my cheeks as the tap from a tabby’s nose.
The thin, slick texture helps with application, and they slip on like a fine silk shirt (think Smashbox Photofinish Primer). I’ve been using my fingers, applying from two to four layers, depending on the shade.
The result? A faint, natural flush that slowly fades throughout the day.
Part of me wishes Maybelline had packed these with more pigment, but the brighter shades like 70 Hot Tamale, 10 Pink Frosting and 50 Plum Wine should look lovely paired with bright orange or pink lips this spring.
I just hope I don’t accidentally step on one while dancing because they sure feel flimsy…
PRICE: $8 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores (I’ve yet to see them online)

Oh! Have you tried the Organic Greek Style Yogurt at Trader Joe’s? My faves are the Honey and Vanilla, which I like to have with a little fruit on the side between breakfast and lunch.
Honey Greek Yogurt with blackberries, yum!
I used to be a Yoplait gal, but once I went Greek, I couldn’t go back. It’s heavier than regular yogurt, more tart than sweet, and takes me a little longer to eat, but I like that, because I can inhale one of those Yoplaits in about half a second.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Joyce says
I haven’t seen them at Target yet. =(
By the way, are they cream blushes?
Karen says
Yup, it says it in the fourth paragraph down. 🙂
Joyce says
Sorry! I was speed reading and missed that part, but I guess I will have to skip these blushes because I’m not a fan of cream blushes. I’m just too lazy and whenever I use brushes for liquid/cream products, I have to wash it after each use. So, I stay away from cream blushes and prefer powder blushes. =)
Karen says
No worries, Joyce! 🙂 Have you ever tried applying cream blush with your fingers? It’s fast, plus you don’t have to wash a brush!
PinkGlitter says
I want to try one of this blushes, mostly because of how you described the consistency! “Bouncy like marshmallow Peeps” made me giggle. Little disappointed when I saw the swatches. I was hoping, like you, for more pigmentation.
Karen says
I’m craving candy, can’t you tell? 😉
If you want these brighter you could build ’em up to about a medium level, but it does take time. They’re cool if you’re looking for a more sheer look, though!
How’s your day been?
jen says
I really like the Rose Petal shade. Takes me a bit to build it up but it’s so natural and reminds me of Nars Orgasm. I also love the Peach Satin which gives me a light coral color with way more pigment. It’s doesn’t’ last allll day but does okay… I wasn’t expecting Mufe material though. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Jen,
Yeah, these aren’t bad at all for $8. Question for you — what kind of skin do you have? I have dry cheeks, and I think that might be part of the reason why I get decent wear time on these.
jenny says
I am normal to dry so they last a decent amount of time on me as well. Actually more than I expected!
jenny says
Peach satin looks faboosh w my Revlon lip butter in tutti tutti and like rose petal w my mac nymphette gloss.
Chris25 says
These look amazing, but I wish Maybelline would go cruelty-free already. Darn….
Speaking of yogurt, I love Trader Joe’s Low Fat Vanilla. Yummy stuff!
Karen says
Oh, I’ve had that before too and it’s good!
Do you ever eat their pre-made salads? They have a couple new ones that are really good.
Melissa says
These look fun! I want to try out a few of them. (I’m a sucker for blush)
🙂
Karen says
Me too. You can never have enough of them! What blushes are your favorites?
Melissa says
Tarte Amazonian Clay blush tops the list for me 🙂 I also like E.L.F.’s studio blushes, and I have a couple of the Dream Mousse blushes from Maybelline that I really love. I need to try some NARS girl!
Em says
If you’re looking for an amazing Greek Yogurt, try Oikos! I’m addicted 🙂
Karen says
LOL, I just saw a commercial for that with John Stamos. Have you ever tried the Oikos Caramel flavor? It’s really good.
Em says
No, that sounds deelish! I’ve only tried the strabwerry and honey ones, and i eat them every day! Yum 🙂
Martha says
I love these blushes, just posted on them lol. They work well for me, but I have pretty fair skin. Greek yogurt is SO good, especially with fresh blackberries! Yum. My husband keeps bees, so I have the plain with a drizzle of fresh raw honey.
Karen says
Yay, glad you like these. What kind of wear time do you get? A few other people in the comments mentioned reading in other reviews that these fade fast. I didn’t really experience that. I have dry skin, plus I do a few layers. Seems to work for me.
That’s super cool that your hubby keeps bees! I took a class college science class on bees years ago… I think they’re really neat (when they’re not stinging me!). I’ve never had fresh raw honey before. Is it much better than what you get at the store?
Martha says
I get all day wear as well, but like you I have dry skin. I do a few layers over my powder- I love the glowiness!
The honey is much more flavorful. It can have different flavors depending on what plant was in bloom nearest to the hives. Local honey is supposed to be good for seasonal allergies when eaten daily. I find the bees fascinating- their rules and order, their precise cleanliness. Pretty amazing 🙂
Nora says
I’ve read a few reviews now that mention the color fades after a few hours. Did you also find this to be true please?
Karen says
I get a slow fade over six hours. I have really dry cheeks, though, which might be a reason why the product works better for me.
dani@callitbeauty says
Hmm… I’m definitely intrigued, but I like my blushes quite pigmented, so I’ll definitely have to have a swatch first. The shades look so lovely, though!
Karen says
Hi Dani,
What colors are you liking?
Tiffany says
Every review of these blushes says that the color doesn’t last. That’s sad because they look interesting. I love Greek yogurt too, Yoplait actually has a line of Greek yogurts.
Karen says
Interesting. I think it really depends on your skin type. I have dry cheeks and the color stays on mine.
JaNelle says
I picked up the one in coffee cake… Very sheer but as i kept building there was a soft sheen on my cheeks …and somehow it worked..in that moment at least. Im hesitant to try more because of the lack of color payoff. Not sure but i dug the texture.
Alison says
Nice review, will have to try them. But, I did just get Nars blush in Desire with a christmas sephora gift card (thanks santa!). I LOVE it, and even though it looks so crazy bright in the pan, it is such a lovely color and lasts all day. I like pink plum in your review above.
I’m kind of laughing now, because this TJs greek yogurt with honey and blackberries on the side is my go-to snack, I’ve had it for the last three days. Mostly I’m eating healthily, but the box of dark chocolate stars from TJs seems to be never ending, honestly. What’s a girl to do?!
Anna says
Greek yogurt is NOM!! Also, packs way more protein than regular yogurt 🙂
Sunny says
I can see these working fabulously for blush beginners because they’re sheer! Also, since they are cream blushes, fingers would do (yup, I’ll stay that unhygienic till I finally lay my hands on a skunk brush and figure out how to use it properly lol)!
Oh man, you can find nonfat Greek yogurt (doh of course, it’s the U.S. of A. we’re talking about here)? A while ago you suggested Greek yogurt for yogurt mask, so I checked it out at the supermarket. The amount of calories per pot totally scared me away (since, well, I suppose I’ll have to eat the rest of it), so I’m still sticking to whole fat yogurt at the moment.
Psst since you mentioned a tabby’s nose… My best friend found this blog and I think your inner cat lady will really enjoy it: http://cattywumpuscats.blogspot.com/

These look super pretty, Karen! You’re so helping the list of products to get when I go off my no-buy.
Hope that you are doing wonderful!!!
gio says
The texture sounds really intriguing and the colors very pretty. Too bad they don’t last longer.
Mabeline says
Thanks for the information about the blushes. I will keep an eye out for them.
We love Greek yogurt at our house too! Our brand that we always reach for is Fage. Ever since I read in an article the benefits of Greek yogurt, this has become a staple in our daily diet. In the summertime, I would buy fresh strawberries and cut them into slices to mix with the yogurt and honey. It’s more protein than regular yogurt and so it fills us up. The extra protein in our diet along with daily exercise on the treadmill helps build muscle too. My husband is better keeping to his exercise routine than I am and has lost more weight and gained more muscle tone too.
🙂

Love Greek yogurt!
That’s the problem with Maybelline. They have cool products on first impression then, after using them, uh oh…. But then it’s very reasonably priced. So can’t complain much.
Stèphanie says
Oh my, those blushes look amazing, those color! Pik Frosting, Candy Coral and Pink Plum! Hope they also come with matching nailpolishes! Haha..

These look awesome! I want hot tamale!! it looks very natural on you karen:)

They’re really pretty and natural looking, but cream blush seems to fade so fast on me. I think my cheeks are on the dry side, too. But maybe that’s just compared to my t zone. 🙂
We don’t have a TJ’s (as I’ve lamented before) but I like to use plain greek yogurt mixed with fiesta spice mix as a dip for raw veggies. It’s really tasty and the whole tub only has 120 calories. Can’t beat that!
NeenaJ says
Hi Karen,
I really like the look of some of these blushes. I’m a big fan of cream blush because they’re so easy and I’m dry skinned. The sheerness works in my favor as too much pigment leaves me looking like I’ve had an allergic reaction!
BTW, what are you wearing on your lips? It looks fab.
Nina says
i loved loved Yoplait … but bought some Oikos greek yogurt on a whim and now i am converted! i love the tartness of it!
the blushes are pretty but since im on the darker side, i need a bit more pigment than that on my blushes!
Marian says
These blushes look like they’d be perfect for me. I’m so pale that I’m sure I’d get plenty of pigment. I am a Greek yogurt fiend. I eat it daily. It’s so thick and creamy that it seems decadent…like I’m cheating with a fat laden desert. I love Chobani or Fage brands.
Neeraj says
Sheer cream blushes?? I havent used any cream blush other than Max Factor Miracle Touch and Shiseido Accentuating stick on my clients. This looks like a cheaper option and I think I could layer a powder blush over it for longevity.
Gabi says
I saw an ad for this and got super thrilled. They look amazing and right up my alley!
Ariana says
Once you go greek nothing else can bring that heat lol, greek yogurt always brightens my day!
BeckBeck says
I definitely struggle more with application of cream blushes than powders – I always seem to get way too much on if I use a brush, but when I use fingers, I end up splotchy. Any ideas on a good method or tool for even application?
corallista says
Hot tamale and Peach satin are beautiful!

Bouncy Blush … Makes me feel more beautiful 😀

I need Plum Wine and Hot Tamale! I already have Candy Coral and I love it!

A few months ago, I tried Greek yogurt for the first time, and although I like ‘regular’ yogurt, the Greek kind just tastes heartier. 🙂 Mmm…and your marshmallow description of these blushes is making me hungry. Food on the mind!
Diana says
Thanks for the swatches! They’re very helpful. I picked up a couple and can’t wait to try them myself! =)
