It’s hard to believe there was a time in my life when the only wardrobe I needed was the fictional one I found nestled between the pages of a C.S. Lewis book.
But then I found makeup. 🙂
I soon discovered that lip products, perfumes, powders and palettes opened similar doorways to distant worlds, and it was quite a rush.
In The Chronicles of Narnia books (some of my faves!), that doorway is an old wooden wardrobe. With Bobbi Brown’s new Eye Wardrobe palette, it’s a small rectangular box.
When I pop open this palette, I think, “Ah, the looks I’ll do… The places I’ll go!”
The new limited edition travel exclusive (price TBA, but based on Bobbi’s other eye palettes, expect around $45) contains six mostly cool-toned powder shadows in White (a sheer white matte), Star (sheer glittery beige), Iced Blue (a metallic pale blue), Opal (a pearly off white), Lavender (a metallic pale purple) and Black Cocoa (a shimmery blackish brown with golden glitter), as well as four tiny tools — miniature versions of Bobbi’s eyeshadow, angle, smudge and liner brushes.
I’m not often impressed by travel brushes, but the four here have been surprisingly useful, even with their itty-bitty brush heads. The soft bristles deposit a considerable amount of color and make quick work of blending.
The whole kit should be great for jet-setters looking to lighten their makeup load, or for anyone just trying to streamline.

Because it’s limited edition, and also a travel exclusive, the palette can be a little tough to track down, but that might appeal to hard-core Bobbi fans thrilled by the idea of hunting for a hard-to-find palette.
PRICE: Price TBA, but based on Bobbi’s other eye palettes, expect around $45
AVAILABILITY: Available now at select airports and duty-free stores worldwide

And speaking of books…
I just finished another book on my (err, El Hub’s!) Kindle, The Long Way Home, by Karen McQuestion, which I picked because it got pretty good reviews and was free for Amazon Prime members.
In it, four women take a spur-of-the-moment road trip across the U.S. They start out as strangers brought together by an unusual circumstance but become friends along the way.
The story has it all! — action (NOTE: some senior citizens pack guns in their purses), mystical moments (one of the gals has psychic abilities and can commune with the dead) and humor.
Sure, I think it’s a little predictable at times (Lifetime movies come to mind), but it’s an easy, quick chick-lit read, if you’re into that kind of thing (I am!). Perfect for when you don’t want to think/work too hard, like maybe on a long plane ride or to spend a day at the beach. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Beautiful look Karen! The palette is really nice too 🙂
Karen says
Thanks, Jessica! That purple would look really pretty on you with your dark hair.
How’s your week going so far? Good, I hope. 🙂
Shannon says
I love the design of this palette but most of the colors are so light that the seem to be similiar. I love Black Cocoa but it seems a bit out of place with all of the other very cool toned colors.
Karen says
Hi Shannon,
Yeah, the differences between the lighter shades will probably be more obvious on lighter skin tones.
Black Cocoa is probably my fave shade from the palette. 🙂 I checked Bobbi’s website to see if they offer Black Cocoa as a single shade, but unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be in the permanent line.
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
aarrghh–so pretty! I’m so envious of all the fair, cool-toned beauties out there. I’ve always wanted to be able to pull of these kinds of colors. So whimsical and lovely. You look so pretty in these shades though. I have yet to see a shade–warm or cool–that you can’t pull off. jealous!
Karen says
Hi Becca,
The cool-toned gals are so lucky! They can wear all those great pale blues and grays…
Anywho, hope you’re having a lovely week so far. Anything new to report?
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Not much new here except a newfound love of bronzer! I just recently bought the Guerlain Terracotta Light bronzer in Brunettes and I’m in LOVE. Believe it or not, but I wasn’t too big on bronzers before. I just didn’t feel like I needed them. Oh boy, I was wrong! I guess everyone looks good with a little bronzer, huh?
Do you have a favorite bronzer? I’d love to hear your picks!
Reena says
Palettes are so pretty, you looked good with it. Liked how you blend the make up.
I’m hoping to give these combos a try on me, I usually go with neutrals because I’m warm toned. Glad to make this look as an inspiration to begin with.
Karen says
Hi Reena,
I love warm toned neutrals too. What are your fave palettes?
Reena says
Great! we both have something in common =) My forever favorite is Urban Decay Naked Palette.
Chelsea says
not my colors, but a nice palette! I’m doing a lot of traveling this summer, so I’ll definitely be checking out the duty-free shops.
Karen says
You’re going to have an AMAZING time looking at makeup in Paris! 😀 I can’t wait for your trip so I can vicariously live through you.
Thank you for the Lancome Artliner and the L’Oreal HIP Cream Eyeliner recco, btw! I’m currently obsessed w/purples and plums.
Chelsea says
happy to be of service!

You’ll have to eat some macarons from Laduree for me too:

It’s of utmost importance!
Chelsea says
those look mouth-watering!
Going to Sweden and Austria too, I’m sure I’ll have all kinds of fun!
Karen says
No way! I’ve always wanted to go to Austria for the sole purpose of seeing the Sound of Music house. 🙂
Chelsea says
I’m a huuuge musical fan, that would be amazing – my dad (who instilled a love of musicals) would be insanely jealous.
Maria Palma says
I’ve always loved neutral tones for eyeshadow, so this palette is perfect for me…and great for travel too! I could probably mix the brown with the lighter colors to create something in the medium range.
Tracy says
Hey! I like the looks of this even though it’s kind of light! It’s kind of pretty! Looks great on you!
musical says
You look stunning in these pictures, Karen! Very glowy!
Yes, chick-lit can be fun, lots of fun, if done right! I’ll look it up, lady K!
Nina says
Ooohh the book does sound interesting — perfect read to while away a warm summer afternoon!
Hrm — the wardrobe is a great idea but the shades seem a tad light for me.
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
You look gorgeous! I still think this palette has too many light shades and as a result won’t be too useful for me personally, but Lavender and Black Cocoa are beautiful!
Kim says
I’m not sure why, but this palette seems more wintery to me. Must be all the cool, frosty colors. 🙂
I’ve been on kind of a reading lull lately. I think it’s because I’m too pumped about all the summer movies. I still haven’t caught Snow White but will definitely be hitting Prometheus on Friday!
Jessica Allison says
Any chance these shadows have a duo-chrome effect? I’m wondering how they’d look layered over the Black Cocoa shade- may have to hunt one down!
Sara Elisabeth says
I like the ity-bity brushes, but the first four colors are too close to warrant purchasing this palette.
Karen says
Hi Sara Elisabeth,
What’s your skin tone like? If you’re lighter than I am, the differences between those first four shades might register more.
Sara Elisabeth says
I’m pretty fair!
ernestine says
hi there 🙂
this bobbi brown-lavender is equal to chanel 58 lavande, and the cocoa seems to be the same as chanel 75 magic night 😉
