This is the look I wore on my lady date with Jen and Cindy yesterday, although really, I didn’t expect either of them to notice because 1) the Bobbi Brown Nude Glow Shimmer Brick I’m wearing wasn’t designed to stand out like that, and 2) neither of them are hard-core makeup people. In fact, the day Cindy turns to me and says, “OOH! I like how you blended that highlighter into your blush!” is the day I expect to see pigs flying and RyGos ceasing to be frickin’ adorable.
With Nude Glow, that’s exactly what you get — a nude glow, like kind of shine your skin takes on after a really good facial…or an entire day spent chillin’ at a spa (and not doing a damn thing for anyone).
This is one of those highlighters with a super forgiving sheen, and I think that’s why a lot of women — especially mature gals — are going to dig it.
I’ve worn the Shimmer Bricks in Bobbi’s permanent line and have also tried a few of her limited edition ones from previous collections, but this one, with its exceptionally fine powders, seems to be a step above the others.
In this brick, you get a warm bronze, a rosy peach, a pinkish beige and a plum, any of which can be worn on your eyes and/or cheeks by themselves or mixed together.
I tried wearing a mixture of all four of the colors a few times, but to be honest, the plum threw things off for me. I love the plum by itself on my eyes, especially in smokey eyes, but for some reason, whether by itself or mixed with the other colors, the plum looks really muddy on my cheeks.
Instead, I like to just mix three of the colors together — the bronze, rosy peach and pink beige. Oh, gosh! Those three together are like Magic Mike dancing to Pony…
When I wear that trio on my upper cheekbones, my skin looks like it glows naturally! I might as well be wearing a muu-muu someplace warm and drinking mai tais for breakfast, b*tches, because yup — it’s that kind of glow. 🙂
With an uber-flattering finish and all-day wear time (12+ hours), I think this brick compares favorably to other top-notch highlighters, like BECCA’s Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfectors.
Overall, good job, Bobbi!
PRICE: $45

That shimmer brick looks beautiful on you
Karen says
Hi Agata,
Thank you! Any good news about the job yet? 🙂
Happy Tuesday!
Agata says
Hey, not yet. I emailed the lady recruiter yesterday and she said “they are planning on finalizing everything mid November” so unfortunately I still have to wait…

i just snorted into my tea, lol. yeah, i have friends like that, too. although? i’m still gung ho on my mission to save them. 😀
lovely highlighter. but my makeup spending money is gone until at least february next year, with all these sephora, beauty.com sales galore!
Karen says
Hi Lena,
My friend Cindy asked me out of the blue last week for a brown eyeshadow recommendation…I seriously almost passed out! 🙂
Majick says
Hey Lena, I laughed my butt off on that one too! Most of the ladies I hang with, except the friends I made at ULTA (LOL)get me to do their makeup for them for special occaisions.
Karen, you do have a way with words! 😀
Sylvia says
I saw this when I was in Sephora today and wondering how it would appear on the skin and I’m glad to see that it is freakin’ stunning!
Karen says
Hi Sylvia,
What did you pick up at Sephora?
Chris25 says
I think it’s a good deal. You get 4 shades that can be worn on the eyes and cheeks, and you can mix them, so the palette is fairly versatile. 🙂
Karen says
Yup! They’re fab on the brow bone and inner corner. Gotta love stuff that multi-tasks, right?
Chelsea says
Your skin is glowing! I need to get me a new highlighter maybe…
Karen says
Thanks, Chelsea.
I never leave home without a bit of highlighter these days. 🙂 Which one are you currently using?
BTW, I went to Anthropologie last weekend and saw TONS of cute bunny-related clothes and thought of you…
Chelsea says
Maybe I’ll have to hit up Anthropologie! I haven’t been using a highlighter that much, but when I do, it’s usually just a shimmery eyeshadow! I have a shimmery pink in a Lancome eyeshadow Quint that I have.
Caroline says
Laura Mercier makes one that has those similiar colors. And it isn’t limited edition. It looks like a close dupe.
Karen says
Hi Caroline,
Yup the Shimmer Blocs. I like those, too but with some skin types I think finish may not be as forgiving. They’re super pretty though!
Gowthami says
Tempting and flattering shade!!
Karen says
I know right?
Ritu R says
omg, I so want this in my life! looks more wearable than the shimmer brick from Bobbi, right?
Karen says
Yup! The powders are more finely milled so they don’t look so obvious sitting on the skin.
Chaitra says
I wanted to buy the Dior’s Amber diamond , now i am confuded , Karen 🙁 🙂
Karen says
Aww, I think it depends on what you’re looking for. This product is nice for a soft glow.
Jess says
So pretty! I’m thinking becoming a regular reader of your blog wasn’t such a hot idea…so much enabling, much to the detriment of my bank account!:-)
Karen says
Hey Jess,
LOL! Well, I bet your makeup collection’s pretty bangin’ these days. 🙂 What’s on your holiday wish list so far?
Ankita@corallista says
I love my Bronze shimmer brick but the shimmer can be a little overpowering if not used properly. I love that this is more subtle though I think it might look a tad muddy on me unless I pair it with a brightening blush! You look so polished here 🙂
Majick says
This is really N-I-C-E! I have never been a fan of BB shimmer bricks because I thought they played in the lines and made me look older than my years. I might actually consider getting this one. And if it’s a limited edition, so be it.
I really want to retire in 5-7 so I’m getting a little more selective about what I buy. (NOT MUCH, but a little LOL) LOVE your blog and you make me laugh DAILY. p.s. head butt to Tabs.

The word Shimmer frightens me! At a certain age one has to be careful with the glitz or shimmer! Just the way it is if one doesn’t want to look ridiculous (at least me) and trying too hard to be young. I have worn makeup since my teens! We did the wild blue eyes decades ago. What goes around comes around! I do have highlighters, and am eyeing the new Hourglass threesome, so it’s not that I avoid it altogether! This is so pretty on you Karen. You are such a beauty it seems everything works!!!
Corinne says
Karen, do u think this is close to Mac’s Superb (minus the metallicness)
Brenda says
Have you tried the Hourglass ambient lighting palette? I want to know what you think of it.
