You remember Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, right? My cuticles fell madly in love, and because they loved it so much, I’ve been interested in trying more of Burt’s hand products.
I picked up their Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme ($9) the other day on a whim. I was at Target at the time, buying toilet paper because I can’t trust El Hub to do it anymore (he always gets the cheap stuff that feels like sandpaper), and spotted Burt’s familiar packaging.
This thick, moisturizing cream, which feels almost like a salve (read: REALLY thick, like cold butter), has been around for a while as part of Burt’s permanent collection. It’s made from all natural ingredients, stuff like sweet almond oil and aloe, and has a light almond fragrance that’s easy on my sensitive nose.
It takes a little longer to absorb than a your run-of-the-mill hand creams, but my paws just love this stuff to pieces. I can hear them let out a hearty “Ahhhh…” when I massage it in, LOL! Right after, the product appears to leave behind a slightly greasy residue, but it completely disappears within a few minutes.
I wash my hands often, especially during cold and flu season, and that does a number on my paws. Burt’s Almond Milk quenches their thirst and keeps them supple and soft.
Burt, if you’re reading this, let me start by saying thanks for making such a great product (thanks!)…but if it’s not too much to ask, would you consider a version with tougher packaging? The glass jar doesn’t feel tough enough to toss into a clutch, so how about something built a little better for travel? Just an idea. 🙂

This is one of my favorite hand products of all time. I picked up a sampler set from Amazon awhile back & fell in love! I like the smaller size jar too although you get considerably less product. I wish they could put this in a squeeze tube!
Karen says
A squeeze tube would be awesome. 🙂
You’re up late! Are you a night own naturally?
snoopysteph says
Unfortunately, yes. I find my most productive hours are between 6pm & 12am…I thought that would’ve changed after having a baby but he sleeps in till 9am so I don’t have to worry about getting up early. Are you a night owl too?
Karen says
I am naturally, but I’ve trained myself to become a morning person because I find I write better in the AM. I’m up unusually late tonight… damn insomnia!
snoopysteph says
I went to bed but never fell asleep – guess I’m having a bout of insomnia too.
Maybe right side brain-ers think better in the AM and left side brain-ers think better in the PM!
Have you tried Burt’s Beeswax & Banana hand cream? It’s equally as awesome (although my husband would vehemently disagree as he can’t stand the smell of bananas).
Karen says
I’m with your hubby on the banana thing. I’m SUPER picky about mine — I can only stand them when they are just a little green, with absolutely no spots. The minute they start getting spotty then I pass ’em on to El Hub.
I stayed up really late watching TV last night! Did you get any sleep at all?
snoopysteph says
Not only does he hate the smell of bananas, he’s allergic to them too. I guess the Beeswax & Banana would make you run for the hills then! 😀
After tossing & turning I finally got up at 3:30am for good. I’m paying for it today though! I’m so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open….the recliner in my office is totally calling my name.
Heidi says
Love this stuff. Great moisturization and it smells sooo good!
Karen says
Hi Heidi,
I wish I found this lotion sooner. It’s amazing! I think I’m officially hooked on Burt’s Bees. 🙂
Do you love any other products from the line? Would love to hear about them!
Heidi says
Well, let’s see… They make a couple of great cleansers: for drier skin there’s an orange cleanser that smells just like fresh squeezed orange juice, it’s amazing and really hydrating. For oiler skin their deep pore cleansing cream is great. I also love their radiance body lotion, it adds a nice shimmer to the skin. And my mom swears by their peppermint foot lotion.
Milady says
I only hear great things about Burt’s bees, so I have to try it sometime!
Olga says
This is my favorite hand cream of all times!!!
Hope you are having a fun holiday season, Karen 🙂
Karen says
Hi Olga,
I looove this stuff and already am addicted. 🙂
How’s your holiday been? Are you back at home again?
Lena says
i love burt’s bees stuff too. some of my absolute faves:
– baby bee buttermik lotion
– pore refining mask
– shea hair repair treatment
– the cuticle cream of course, which you’d already discovered
Karen says
Hi Lena,
Thanks for these great recs! I think I’m going to try the Shea Hair Repair next. 😀
Faith says
I have a Burt’s Bee’s manicure kit that has this. I can’t stand the smell!
Karen says
I can see how it would be something you either love/don’t love. Have you sniffed the Banana version? Some people here really like it.
Fieran says
This looks nice 🙂 I like the white content + white packaging. Would you happen to know if this bottle is similar to the one used for Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream? ‘Coz that bottle can take a lot of trashing. I carry it with me all the time, just chucked into my handbag and it always survives.
Karen says
Oh, the Eight Hour Jar? Man, that’s good stuff. I know that Elizabeth Arden’s is a smaller 1-oz., which makes it easier for travel. This one’s kinda bulky and awkward (but still cute).
Does anybody tote this stuff around?
Fieran says
I wouldn’t know 🙂 It does seem weird to tote glass bottles around as most brands have To-Go versions of their stuff like L’Occitane’s hand cream tubes and Clinique’s Moisture Surge spray. Hopefully Burt will get there as well.
They do sell this brand in Oslo but not the full range I believe. A girl can never have too many hand creams so I’ll take a peek next time I’m out 🙂
gio says
This sounds wonderful, I’ll check it out. I wash my hands a lot and they can get quite dry in winter so I’m always looking for a good moisturizing hand cream to keep them soft and supple. The jar packaging is cute, but I would rather it came in a squeeze tube too.
Karen says
I know! I would love to be able to throw this in my purse.
Tiffany says
sounds nice! I might check this out when I run outta hand cream! (which might be 2013….)
Karen says
LOL! Well, one can never have enough hand cream, really. I’ve got tubes at my desk, in the bathroom, in the car (both mine and El Hub’s), next to the bed, underneath the bed…
Nina says
this sounds like a must have — both for me and the hubs!
Karen says
That’s one of the things I love about this product — the scent is gender neutral enjoy for guys and girls!
Do you have today off?
Nina says
yep. i have today and the rest of the week off.
we had chicken pho for lunch – yum! and then we just drove around aimlessly LOL … we ended up trying to look for a bakery i wanted to try out and didnt find it.
we just got home after a yummy burger dinner with an even yummier salted caramel shake for dessert!
makeup morsels says
I love this hand cream! Actually, I’ve only used the banana scented version. It might be a little too much banana for some, but I really love it.
Karen says
Hmm… so tell me about the scent? Does it smell like ripe bananas? Like, is there a sweetness to it?
snoopysteph says
It’s not overwhelmingly banana scented, in my opinion – but it’s definitely noticeable.
makeup morsels says
It reminds me of ripe bananas with just the slightest hint of banana Laffy Taffy. The scent fades after you rub it in, but if you put your nose right next to your hand (I do this a lot for whatever reason) you can still smell the banana. Oh, and when you open the jar, you can most definitely smell it.
Tracy says
I’ve never tried this. Sounds like it would be great for the really cold winter here!
Karen says
If your hands are really dry you’ll love it. I’m super picky about my hand creams and this one is seriously one of the best ones I’ve ever tried.
DonnaN says
OOH, this sounds nice! Must put on my “to find” list the next time i TARGET. Thanks for the suggestion Karen!!
Karen says
You’re welcome, Donna!
Oh, it just hit me — when the baby comes you’ll have the perfect excuse to check out baby beauty products! 🙂 I know Burt’s has a line called “Baby Bee.”
DonnaN says
Yes, maybe I can find the time to do a guest post on baby beauty products for ya!!
lo says
I love this stuff! And I totally agree about the squeeze tube… it would definitely be ideal. It is definitely a hand-saver, and it smells so yummy! Literally, my pup wants to lick my hands when I put it on.
Karen says
How cute! I noticed that Tabs loves/hates certain scents too. I don’t think he minds this one!
lo says
It’s probably because the sweet smell reminds him of cookies! That dog loooooves him some cookies. It’s funny how our fuzzy kids pay attention to that kind of stuff.
Karen says
Pets are so funny! Tabs is a ho for sliced turkey. If there was hand cream with that scent I’m betting he’d go cra-zay-zay for it!
Milka says
I love this hand cream! I’ve been using BB’s for years and this one is my go to during winter. Nothing beats the buttery feeling and the heavenly smell.
Janelle says
I LOVE Burt’s Bee’s cuticle cream, but i can’t bring myself to use this stuff, because it’s so thick and sticky. :0/ Maybe I’ll have to give it another try.
nicoletta says
This is my favourite hand cream, i love it. The smell just makes me want to keep reapplying it too. The baby products by burts bees are amazing too x
steph b says
I’m totally digging their new tinted lip balms. They really don’t add much color at all, but they feel wonderful – not at all waxy – and have been saving my poor lips from the crazy biting wind we’ve been having.
Soo says
I love Burt’s Bees’ lotions/cremes! lately I’ve been using my parents’ stash of the night creme. and I totally agree about the packaging. I’d like a squeeze tube version to be able to keep it in my purse. the cap on the night creme is broken from basic carpool traveling 🙁
Melessa says
im not sure if im going to like the scent but im a slight germa phobe and also wash my hands frequently and my hands take a beating for it, especially during the harsh winter months. i hope i can pick up some soon! and happy late xmas. hope you had a nice time
Mellissa says
My first time to your site! I am such a product junkie so this is so for me love it! I have been using this for a few years and it makes your hands so soft. Try slathering it on your feet and putting on cotton socks baby butt soft seriously!
