When I heard about Lush’s new Latte Lip Tint ($6.95), the first thing I did was lick my lips and moan, “Mmm…” Then, I imagined what it might look like and pictured a muddy, flat brown.
Wait — that doesn’t sound appealing, does it?
Ah, but then I tried it on. 🙂
Lush may not have done their latest lippie justice by referring to the color as coffee. It’s a thin, smooth, non-sticky tint that goes on looking like a pigmented, frosty golden bronze, and I think it’s outright lovely on the lips.
More often than not, Lush’s flavors and scents aren’t exactly subtle, and Latte Lip Tint also packs quite a wallop. I like the scent, which reminds me of coffee and cocoa butter, but the flavor? Let me put it this way: Starbucks, it ain’t (unless Starbucks sells a vanilla latte made with a shot of wax).
If your lips crave moisture in winter like mine do, Latte delivers. I don’t think it’s as hydrating as Clinique Super Balm or Philosophy Kiss Me, mind you, but it should be moisturizing enough for most days.
I wish the tin were easier to open, especially with moisturized hands, and I’d prefer a tube applicator to packaging that I have to dip my fingers into, but even with those couple caveats, I still like this lippie a latte. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. OOH! So totally not Lush-related, but I was just browsing the Sephora site and stumbled upon a couple of cute things from Laura Mercier. Have you seen the new Baked Eye Color Palette ($48) or Nudes Mini Lip Glace Set ($38)?
I love the soft pinks, browns and purples. So pretty…
Or how about the blinged-out tops on Nails Inc.’s two Crystal Polishes, creamy pink Knotting Hill and shimmery grayish violet Primrose Hill ($19.50 each)? Yes, please! 🙂
The polishes are pricey, but I bet they’d look great with the pieces from Laura (I like to match, LOL!).
They seem kinda springy, dontcha think?

Forget about the polish, the bottles are insane! Love it!
Karen says
Me too! Definitely display worthy.
Now, if only I could find Tabs a collar that looks similar to the bottle tops…

The tint totally works for your skin tone Karen! Hows the staying power (including meals)?
I’m a new follower, love your blog!

I really encourage you to google and try Vegan Liptints by Lip Labz. A canadian brand that is made from all natural ingredients. I’ve stopped using lip gloss and this brand comes as a chapstick but uses minerals for color. The colors are subtle but super awesome and hydrating. Check it out.

you look adorable in that hat, Karen! 🙂
the gloss looks promising … if not for me then maybe for my female coworkers!

The lip tint looks so pretty on you! I wish it came in a tube too though.

It looks lovely on you. 🙂
But I hear you about the strong scents and flavors at LUSH. I kind of like that about them, though.

I love the shade of the lip tint, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be a fan of the scent-I hate anything coffee-ey… :(.

FYI, I had to snag one of these and it completely does NOT smell like coffee in any way. So if that convinces you, good. But I also have to add I detest the scent. I’m actually going to send Lush a note about the “fragrance” choice. At first I couldn’t figure out what it was…after half a day I recalled its placement – it’s the smell when you open a bag of really old bread and all the mold comes wafting out. I’m not kidding. GRANTED the scent disappears soon and you’re left with ridiculously awesome bronzed lips…I’m still debating if this smell is a deal-breaker for me.

Love the color, love the ingredient list… I usually DON’T love Lush’s scents, though 🙁

I saw the Laura baked e/s palette at Sephora. It was so pretty. The colors swatched this uber sparkly almost duochrome. Looked like they might have a bit of fallout.

I love Lush, but have never been a fan of their lip products. I think that they contain too much bees wax or something.

I never tried Lush, and we have a shop right in town. I went in several times and came out with nothing.
But the nails Inc. Polishes are very pretty! And the LM baked eyeshadow palette. Love the pale lavender.

Gorgeous shade on you! I need to check these out!

I prefer lip products in tubes, too, and it takes a lot to convince me to buy pots of lipbalm these days. I think you’ve created a monster in me because now I’m fiending for those bling-bling polishes!

I really don’t like lip balms in tins because it’s a hassle to have to use hand sanitizer before dipping my finger in the tin every single time throughout the day when I’m out. When it’s in a tube, you can use it anytime without being paranoid…haha!
A few years back, I tried Lush’s Lip Service lip balm (I think that’s what it was called), but it was just okay. It didn’t moisturize as well as I had hoped. These days, I stand by Jack Black lip balms because they’re so heavy-duty, they have SPF, and they come in tubes.

I am in love with your hat and was curious where it’s from?
