Becca Creme Blush in Byzantine
You know how there’s always that ONE ANNOYING PERSON who gets to the bus stop a few seconds late? The one who yells, “Wait! Wait!” as the bus pulls away from the curb? Yeah, that person would be me. 🙂
There aren’t a lot of positives to being perpetually late for public transpo, but there is at least one: blushed cheeks.
Sadly, it’s the kind of blush that only lasts a few minutes, but Becca may have a longer term solution. Too bad their Becca Creme Blush wasn’t available back when I was regularly missing riding the bus to school.
Of course, all 11 natural-looking shades aren’t exactly built with student budgets in mind ($30), but I probably would have eaten ramen noodles every day for a week (been there, done that) to be able to splurge on one of these pans.
Shimmery bronze Byzantine, the color I’ve been wearing this week, blends easily and lasts all day long without the need for touch-ups. I can pop it on bare cheeks (or atop foundation/tinted moisturizer) before breakfast with either my fingers or a brush (I like the MAC 187 skunk brush) and rest assured that it’ll last till dinner.

Wearing Byzantine
The flush Byzantine lends to my cheeks looks so natural that it works when I don’t want to appear like I’m wearing makeup — you know what I mean.
Byzantine and her beautiful brethren aren’t exactly bargains at $30 a pan, but they might be worth a little overtime at work. Available at select Pure Beauty stores and online at beccacosmetics.com. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+/A-
Le quest for comfy drawers!
Probably TMI, but I just had to share. I’ve found what are perhaps magic underwear, and I think they’ve changed my life. They’re these thongs by Hanky Panky…
Have you seen ’em before?
I picked up a few pairs at the last Nordstrom anniversary sale, and DAYUM! if they aren’t most comfy bits of booty floss I’ve ever worn.
They’re stretchy and soft and fit just right. Plus, I like that they’re low-rise and don’t peek out of my jeans.
They normally run $18 a pair, but the company’s holding a back-to-school special: three pairs for $49 (works out to $16.33 each). I can’t speak for anyone else, but my ladyparts are thanking me for liberating them from the Land of Uncomfortable Underwear!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. To all the bus drivers who chose not to wait for me when I was late…why you gotta be so cold?! 🙂
Arianne says
Oooh the Becca cream blush sounds amazing! I’m a little late getting on the cream blush train, but for someone who has cheeks like a slip ‘n slide, cream blush is essential.
LOL I have heard of Hanky Panky before but I haven’t splurged on them yet. Glad your lady bits are now free of uncomfortable underwear. 😛
Karen says
I think you’ll like these! The texture is perfect. 🙂
Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
Love Byzantine–bronzey peach on me, perfect for summer and blends wonderfully! I got on Hautelook for half price—score!
Karen says
Nice! Gotta love the half off. 🙂
Amber says
That blush is gorgeous on you. I notice your skin shows off the pink in neutral products…mine shows the orange and brown, boo.
Karen says
Ooh, maybe we have to find you another color. I’m going to see if I can track these down at Pure Beauty… hopefully they will be there so I can do some more swatching!

That’s awfully expensive for three pairs of panties. Then again, I’m always buying the bikinis from the Cotton Lingerie line from VS when it’s 5/$25. I’ve never gotten into the whole thong thing; I hate the feeling of walking around with a permanent wedgie. I much prefer my tushy covered with a soft, breathable, hygienic fabric. It’s cotton or bust.
I might have to check out the cream blushes in Wild Orchid, Turkish Rose or Hyacinth. Those look beautiful. I tend to gravitate towards pink blushes. Pinks are very flattering on me. The price, however, the price is a wee high. Can they lower it just a teeny bit? Make it, say, $24 or $25? Stila’s convertible colors are $25. I love my Stila Convertible Colors. I have Gerbera and Petunia.
Karen says
It’s been a while since I’ve shopped at VS. I’ve noticed when I buy stuff from there it either loses it shape quickly or starts to fray within a few months, but maybe I’ve just had bad luck.
Anywho, I can recall seeing Hyacinth in person back in the day and liking it!
Love your new pic, btw.
Kate & Zena says
The Cotton Lingerie line is really good, I’ve noticed. I wasn’t a big VS panties because the Pink panties SHRUNK (they weren’t cotton so it was MAJOR shrinkage), lost shape and frayed. The Cotton Lingerie hasn’t done any of that and I’ve had them for nearly half a year. Now, if your panties happen to get stuck on Velcro like mine did on Friday (thank God it was only two panties), yes, the seams will get a little frayed. I’ve worn a lot of cotton panties, and these are the best I’ve tried.
Keep in mind, I’ve ordered mine online so I know no one’s touched my panties. Ones in the store get stretched out form people trying them on, so I’m always ordering mine online. It’s a good thing my size doesn’t change for VS!
I figured it was time for Zena to stalk the Interwebs. She hasn’t been able to stalk the outdoors (the humidity + the heat+ no sunscreen = me no go outside), so I’m letting her stalk the Interwebs.

Once in Seattle, a somewhat crazy man just missed the bus and was angry when it pulled away. He RAN all the way to the next stop to yell at the bus driver… the the driver just pulled away again without stopping. Oh, the hilarity of it all.
Anyway, I love this cream blush on you. Very cute and natural. Cream blush might be my very favorite beauty product. I love how it stays all day and looks more natural than powder. 🙂
Karen says
I can’t lie — I have been tempted to chase after buses and yell at the bus drivers. Especially when they smirk as they drive away…

these look beautiful!! but i have my convertible color, and it was expensive enough for me… when im a millionaire ill buy these too. (that phrase seems to be cropping up alarmingly often lately, especially as i havent formulated a plan yet…)
Karen says
LOL… I’m still waiting to win the lottery.
ace says
🙂 ive given up… now its ‘maybe i cpuld become a world famous cat whisperer?’
Karen says
I think you’ll have to stand in line behind the droves of other cat ladies, LOL!

thats absolutely lovely! I need to try the becca cream blushes. I am such a cream blush fanatic
Karen says
You just might love these then! 🙂

Byzantine has been a summer staple for me for at least 4 years. I have just now hit pan, so I figure the next $30 won’t hurt too much 🙂
Karen says
Rock on! I have a feeling I’m going to hit the pan with this one too. Do you ever layer other colors on top of it?
mkdallas says
Gorgeous blush on you, Karen! OK, about the thongs…I TRIED to wear them because I hate panty lines, but I couldn’t get past the OMG perma-wedgie. How does anyone get over the constant urge to tweeze the thong thingie out of their…ahem…crack? Is this discomfort something that will go away? Inquiring minds want/need to know, lol.
Kate & Zena says
I can’t get passed the wedgie feeling either. Generally, I find if you can’t deal with the perma-wedgie, you aren’t fit for thongs. I’ve tried thongs numerous times and I never last more than an hour until I want to run into the nearest washroom and change into my good ol’ bikini-style panties. Cheap thongs, expensive thongs…they’re all the same thing to me. Stick with what’s comfortable to you (there are no-panty-line panties that aren’t thongs, by the way. VS does a line and so does Hanes if I remember correctly).
Karen says
Okay, here’s the deal: I’ve noticed that in general the thinner the booty floss, the more uncomfortable the experience. Like, if it’s a teeny, tiny little string, it’s not gonna feel pleasant. The Hanky Panky ones are thick enough to be comfy, but not so thick that you feel like you’ve got underwear crawling up your bum. They also feel light, lie perfectly flat, don’t bunch up in weird places or cut into your skin. I’m telling you — if you never liked wearing thongs before, you will think of them in a different light when you try these on!
Regina says
i LOVE the hanky panky thongs…they are the most comfortable ones I’ve ever tried. Victoria’s Secret lacie thong comes pretty close, though – and they are cheaper – 3 for $30. : ) Oh, and the blush is very pretty on you, too!
Karen says
I haven’t tried those! It’s been forever since I’ve shopped there… they took the stores out of both my nearby malls so I never go!
As for the blush, do you think you might try it?
Diana says
LOVE the blush! Karen, why you gotta make me go broke??? I haven’t tried the Hanky Panky thongs, but I need to. It’s all I wear! I swear, there is nothing more comfortable than a light modal cotton thong…I can’t stand regular underwear. They just don’t stay put!
Karen says
They are seriously the best ones EVER. For me they’re worth every penny in terms of comfort!
Christina says
Hahaha at the hanky pankys! The lacie ones from vs are definitely comparable and I would check them out!
I love creme blushes but since I have to wear full coverage foundation (be) to cover redness whenever I put on creme blush it just rubs my foundation away and shows my super redness :(.
Karen says
I haven’t tried the lacie ones! Will have to look those up, thanks. 🙂
Jen says
I’m tempted by the Hanky Panky panties (lol), but at that price they’ll have to wait until I get a real job. My sister might get a job at VS though, so I’ll try out the lacies! I keep hearing good things!
Booty floss is a hilarious term, btw.
Karen says
I will have to check those out too!
Marina says
Oh, BECCA blush is amazing. Probably the best cream blush I’ve tried so far! I’d put an A definitely, even A+
Karen says
I want to pick a few more colors. Which ones are your faves?
Kim says
I never thought I’d like creme blush, but I was wrong. I’m actually laughing at myself after reading Arianne’s comment above though. I am using powder in the summer (when my cheeks are slippery) and cream in the cooler weather (when my cheeks could use some extra moisture). Why am I NOT surprised that I am doing things backwards? I love that I learn something new here everyday. 🙂
And on the thong front, I haven’t tried this brand. In general, thongs took some getting used to for me and now I really only wear the Jockey “no panty-lines” bikinis and boyshorts. I’m definitely not against giving Hanky Panky a try though!
Karen says
I might have to hunt those Jockey ones down. Are they *really* panty line-less?
Nina says
That cream blush is pretty on you!
Wow @ em undies … I usually get the 5 for 25 @ VS just because theyre affordable and I dont get very disappointed when they get zonked up in the wash (esp when the Hubs does the laundry!) …
Karen says
I’m telling ya, they’re worth every penny. Sooo comfy!
Trinidad says
I’m a blush newbie! Should I try it?
Lex says
This blush really looks beautiful on you :). If my skin wasn’t so oily, I would have to try some myself!
Summer says
I just have to comment on the HP – they are hands down the best! The versions from VS don’t even remotely come close (they have a seem down the middle! can you say ouch?!). You seriously cannot knock em until you’ve tried them. I’ve seen them at Nordstrom Rack where they are a bit cheaper, but seriously, they really are worth every penny!
Oh, and yes, I too have the Becca cream blush (in Amaryllis), and it’s a beauty! I remember when these were all the rage awhile back, and I really wanted Frangipani but it was sold out everywhere. Byzantine is gorgeous on you Karen!
Stavroula Plag says
Gorgeous packaging and the color looks great on you! 🙂

Karen, I am so glad you found Becca cream blush and hanky panky t-h-o-n-g-s. I have been rocking both for years. HP are the only ones to wear!
Wendy says
Oooh yay! Cream blushes… also, have you tried the Lacie from Victoria’s Secret? They’re one size and omg, so comfy. Bit cheaper too (3 for $30)
