Giorgio Armani wants to woo you with smooth, but forget candlelit Jodeci jams and champagne — GA’s smooooveness comes via a new mascara, Eyes to Kill ($28).
GA built Eyes to Kill for length and volume, but they also called upon rocket science-y research into fluid Microfil technology, micro-waxes and fineness agents (think 007) to make it easy to apply.
I tested glossy Steel Black, one of four shades available now.
Smooth, long and lifted
Now, I think Eyes to Kill does some things very well. For starters, it creates exceptionally smooth, long and lifted lashes.
Many of the lengthening mascaras I’ve used (particularly ones containing visible fibers) are able to exaggerate lash length but at the expense of smooth texture. The tiny fibers end up making my lashes look like jumbled logjams.
Eyes to Kill, on the other hand, manages to make my lashes look longer without leaving them looking coarse.
Two coats make my lashes reach for the sky while staying smoooove from root to tip. 🙂

Feels weightless
Another thing I love about Eyes to Kill is how weightless (not heavy or crispy) it feels. I actually forgot I was wearing it at all.
Just a couple things…
Eyes to Kill would be on its way to mascara greatness if not for two things:
1) It starts to smudge just a *wee* bit by the end of the day and 2) the price.
It’s nowhere near as smudgy on me as $5 Maybelline Great Lash, but I was still able to see some minor smudging along my lower lash line.
That said, taking care to wipe away any excess mascara from the wand before using it definitely helps to keep the smudging under control.
Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara in Steel Black
Price: $28
Use: An exceptionally smooth mascara to lengthen, lift and define lashes
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+
You might like Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara in Steel Black if …
- you’re not a fan of heavy, fibrous mascaras;
- you’re primarily looking for length, lift and definition
- you don’t mind paying a hefty price.
Eyes to Kill has so many good things going for it; if it were $10 cheaper, I’d be madly in love.
America’s favorite dancer is…
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE *SPOILER ALERT*
Who else LOVED last night’s Lion King opening number? I loved it so much that I got up and danced. I grabbed Tabs and held him up like he was baby Simba! — which he wasn’t too thrilled about…
Unless he’s on a REAL Broadway stage, he won’t have anything to do with dance.
I guess the living room of our one-bedroom apartment doesn’t count, LOL!
SO thrilled that Jeanine took home the title, but it irked me that Kayla came in fourth. I think she deserved top three.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Well, I’d love to try it out but that pricetag kinda puts me off completely.
And I just saw my first episode of The Hills. So awful, I couldn’t stop watching. Lol.
Kristen says
Karen, I think it looks great on you! Your lashes look superlong.
I am completely in love with this mascara. People keep asking me if I’m wearing false lashes, and I love that it makes my lashes sky-high without compromising volume, which a lot of lengthening mascaras tend to do on me.
I wipe it off thoroughly before each use; too much product comes out initially, but I have that problem with all mascaras.

*pictures Tabs being lifted Simba style* Haha! As for the mascara, I’d like to try it for a splurge. If the fiance ever messes up royally I’ll demand it as tribute.

I was happy with Jeanine winning, although after watching Jeanette again, I was disappointed she wasn’t in the top 4. And Kayla definitely deserved top 3.
TaLaisa says
Great looking mascara. Too bad it smudges. (I probably wouldn’t try it anyway, that’s some expensive eyelash ‘paint’ as my boys call it).
Honestly I wanted Brandon to win. Jeanine and Brandon were my top two, but I voted for Brandon. If Jeanette hadn’t been voted off she and Brandon would’ve been my top two, I don’t know HOW she managed to get voted out. I loved her!

I never tried this mascara, but it looks amazing on you, really. But I like DiorShow mascara anyway 🙂

Although it has a great name attached to the product and that alone tempts me to try it sadly, the fact that it smudged is a no no so thanks for saving me $28 lol

I think almost every woman will be in relentless pursuit of the perfect mascara *and* foundation. I got a little excited when I saw the preview pics but then you mentioned the smudging and that’s what killed it for me 🙁 I need something long lasting since I wear contacts..
Erin says
I was happy that Jeanine won. I agree that Kayla should have been above Evan, but then again, I thought it should have been Ade and Brandon as the last two guys. I also agree with TaLaisa about Jeanette. I thought for sure she would have been in the top 4. I think that the judges were really surprised about that.
TUPRNUT says
This looks so great on you. And as Luv J said, we’re always looking for the next great mascara…. $28 is a load though for something that smudges. 🙁
cloudburst says
WOW – that mascara is really dramatic! So much so I’m tempted to buy a tube…but if it’s $28 down south I can’t imagine what it will cost in Canada.
How does it hold curl though?
Karen says
Hi Cloudburst,
It’s pretty good. It doesn’t have the tightness of Stila Lash Visor, as it slightly relaxes the curl, but it doesn’t straighten ’em out fully like others I’ve tried. For the most part the lashes go up and out!
Stasy says
Looks great! But I’m totally a volume kind of girl… Karen, can you review the Temptu airbrush foundation? I’m totally curious but it’s crazy expensive if it’s going to slide off or leave me all shiny! I’m addicted to reading your reviews before I buy any new makeup now!
Karen says
Hi Stasy,
I’ll see if I can find a way to test it … it looks really intriguing!
Glosslizard says
That looks really beautiful! How would you rate the smudginess compared to Exceptionnel?
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
Exceptionnel never smudges on me … this one is just a touch smudgier!
Tiffany says
wow, it looks really really great on you! but yeah, I think around 20 bucks is my mascara limit 🙂
gio says
The mascara looks amazing on you! But the price tag is really putting off.

Wow, your natural eyelashes are really long and curly. I think I would pass because I hate *any* smudging.
Jamie says
i’m thinking about trying this mascara buuuut i am a little weary of the price… it definitely looked good on you thoughh so i might just take a chance 🙂
Nat says
I love it but the price is wwwaayyy too much boo!
PS. I LOVED sytycd finale and thought Jeanine deserved it, but I thought the brand new day song was from the Wiz >_>
Karen says
Hi Nat,
LOL, oops, my bad. I saw the lion up in the mix and was so moved by the music I just assumed it was Lion King, ha ha.
Tabs is now gonna be extra cranky about being forced to play baby Simba!
Rebecca says
Ugh, it looks so great, if only it didn’t smudge! Oh well, I’m supposed to be saving for a new computer, it’s probably good I’m not buying $28 tubes of mascara!
As for SYTYCD, I was SO happy Jeanine won! I had really been hoping Jeannette would, but between Brandon, Evan, Kayla and Jeanine I was definitely on team Jeanine 😀
Alison says
Hey, Karen! I’m sorry to comment on an old review, but I’ve totally forgotten what your favorite mascara is! Is it still Maybelline Full n Soft Waterproof? I see a lot of people listing this one as HG, and I was wondering which mascara is your personal favorite!
