Glistening like the stars of MTV’s Jersey Shore — wait, did I just write that?? For a post about a product from Bobbi Brown?
Sorry, let me try this again. 🙂
Glistening like glittery Waikiki Beach (that’s better), the Bobbi Brown Beach Club Shimmer Brick ($38) comes with a combo of five warm-toned highlighter bricks in shades from brown to beige to peach and gold.
Released earlier this month with the Long-Wearing Eyeshadows in Bobbi’s Beach Club collection, this brick is full of surprises.
Swirl ’em together for an easy shimmer pop, or apply each shade separately for five different looks.
I really like the color of the blend. I’ve been applying it to my upper cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and at my temples.
For an effortless summer look, consider pairing the colors in the Beach Shimmer Brick with a warm matte peach, a peachy pink or a coral blush (don’t forget to add your touches of bronzer and gloss).
If I’m trying to draw extra attention to my eyes but don’t want to spend all day on it, I might apply a bit of the blended Beach Shimmer Brick at the center of my lids and/or along my brow bone using a finger.
Perfect for a hot summer night on the town. 🙂 Just don’t let The Situation talk you into heading back to the house for a hot tub session.
Available now at Bobbi Brown counters and online at bobbibrowncosmetics.com.

I have smoothie mania!
I’m on another snack food kick, and this time it’s smoothies. I’ve been too lazy to cook lately, so I’ve been working my blender hard.
I’ll start with some frozen fruit (been buying fresh fruit from Costco and freezing it for later), a small yogurt, maybe a little orange juice, a few spoonfuls of honey and ice, and 30 seconds later — voila! Imitation Jamba Juice at a fraction of the cost.
Do you ever blend your own smoothies? Do you have a favorite recipe? My current fave has strawberries, apple juice, plain yogurt and honey in it…but the carrot/orange juice/apple juice blend is a close second.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. How’s your hump day coming along? What have you been up to today?
Citrine says
Wow, it looks so natural on you (and that compact is HUGE!). I am also wearing a little highlighter today and I think I overkilled it a bit…
A few years back I was on a smoothie kick so I pretty much put everything within sight into the blender and that includes Danish cookies, milk, honey and pineapple juice…
Well, the end result looked like baby poop…

Wow they are big! I thought they’d be tiny like the shimmer blocks from Physician’s Formula.
For my smoothies, I use apple juice, yogurt, pineapple rings (from the cans), pineapple juice (from the cans), frozen strawberries, frozen mangos, frozen raspberries and whatever other berries I have. I like using frozen fruits because it makes the smoothies cold without having to use ice!

I was so excited to check my email and see that MAC was offering FREE overnight shipping today! Happy Wednesday to me!

I love smoothies! But I’ve been on a small deprivation from them lately because my blender just broke. I have to get a new one- and am debating about how much to spend on one- the Vitamix blender looks amazing but I don’t think I can justify spending that much on it. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Im so glad HumpDay is just about done. Im having a tough week at work!
I like that palette … pretty versatile and the colors are so pretty!
Smoothie wise, ive been buying bags of frozen fruit at costco – my faves are blueberries, strawberries, pineapple and mango (if they have it). They keep really well and is just basically frozen fruit. I mix em all up, sometimes w/ yogurt but most of the time just ice and a bit of water. Yum!

Bobbi’s shimmer bricks are a one stop summer look. in the cheaper realm i love physician’s formula’s shimmer strips which are basically the same thing for like a quarter of the price

That shimmer brick looks really nice on your skin tone!
Also, I miss Jamba juice! Since moving to Montana, I’ve had no way of getting it. It makes me sad in the belly and taste buds.

Try adding spinach to your smoothies. I find that if you put a banana in, it completely masks the taste but you’re getting so many healthy greens!

Oh pretty …. I have to look out for this one , looks very pretty on you .. Now that you asked about smoothies , I have spinach smoothie three to four times a week … yes SPINACH , I blend 2 cups of spinach , 1 banana , a couple of berries ( whaever I have on hand – bluberries , rasberries , strawberries all taste good !!) Blend away , it tastes amazing … no you cannot feel the taste of spinach … some flax seeds in it makes for omega 3’s and my skin has been better than ever , no blemishes … try it out , it sounds weird … you have to try it out sometime and let me know if you like it …..

It looks great on you!!! Your shirt looks adorable also – where’s it from?
I love making smoothies with my immersion blender. I love berries, so my fave so far is vanilla yogurt, blueberries, and strawberries!
My hump day was good and I’m proud of myself for making it to the gym!

Huge smoothie fan. I like berries, banana, soy milk, yogurt. For more of a treat, I’ll do banana with brown sugar for a bananas foster flavor. I also like to throw in some flax seed to up the healthy factor.

Oh I really like that shimmerbrick. I have a couple of them and use them mostly in the summer for a glowy look.
Today was a looong day it seemed. But I am glad tomorrow is Thursday. I love smoothies. I wish I had a Jamba Juice closer to me but I don’t which may be a good thing otherwise I would be getting dinner from there every night. I don’t have a blender cause I never really make anything at home and the one I did have I gave it away.

Holy heck that looks amazing on you! (Q: where are you getting this NC20 skin from?! Oh, Kare, please don’t tell me you have an arm stashed away in your closest :/ ….) Like a lot of the other commenters, I’m also surprised at how big that compact is — when it’s sitting in the photo all on its lonesome, it looks so tiny!
Re: smoothies: yum! I’m a huge fan of anything with mango, and will pretty much drink anything as long as it doesn’t contain bananas (love them, but they can make me a little nauseous so I try to avoid them) or berries with seeds (smoothies should NOT require jaw action!) I usually go for brown sugar instead of honey, though… I just love the flavour it imparts 🙂

I love shimmer in the summer and BB has really been delivering it lately! Their shimmer bricks are always so much fun, and so versatile.
I have a few wanna-be BBSBs that I’ve tried over time (ie Phys Formula has something similar) but nothing compares.

if you freeze bananas and then blend them, you get the consistency of ice cream without the guilt! i even add nutella for taste
meimei says
Ooooo, Shimmerbrick! Shiny shiny shiny!!!!
(Sorry, I easily get distracted by shiny objects. I do love BB Shimmerbricks in general, though – and it looks great on you, too!)
Like Natalie in an earlier post, I too freeze bananas before turning them into smoothies. The trick is to get the bananas frozen (but not rock-hard frozen), then break them up into manageable bits and pour milk (or orange juice, or soy milk) on top of them before blending. It’s actually pretty good for breakfast, too – and goes surprisingly well with chocolate!
(I can’t add PB or Nutella any more, though – I have to cut nuts out of my diet to avoid my risk of gout. Sad but true.)

That shimmerbrick might have break my shimmerbrick virginity – it looks gorgeous!! I’ve been promising myself a Bobbi Brown splurge for a while now. Great excuse!!!
Smoothies are yummy. I don’t love Jamba Juice for some reason (I think it’s the powder that gets thrown in there sometimes), but love getting a fruit one blended at the deli. When I lived in the UK we used to have a company called Innocent which did these amazing bottled smoothies. Sooo good.

I saw this while picking up a Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine (Moonlight Rose FTW!), i couldn’t help but run my finger along that palette and WOW the shimmer was gorgeous. I may pick one up before they stop selling them, but want to get my hands on Amber Lights by Dior more than this one. 🙂

I love your t-shirt by the way!
Have you used the brink separately as eyeshadow? I see myself doing that if I were to put down $40 for this compact. I’m really into golds/bronze for the summer I’m just wondering how well this would transition into Fall since I know I won’t finish this by the end of September (OF NEXT YEAR)!

SMOOTHIES!!!!!!! <3 I have been doing the same as well. Who needs Jamba Juice? Pshaw, go homemade =)

Meisha says
My fav smoothie recipe is a “green” smoothie blended with spinach, pineapple & banana. Sometimes I will also add some berries, almond milk and a touch of cinnamon if I want a creamy treat.
Kylie says
Hell yeah. That shimmerbrick looks fab on ya. For a smoothie to stop your tummy from rumbling try this:
Frozen blueberries
Half a fresh baneener
Some skim milk
Some vanilla yogurt
A spoonful of peanut butter
It’s extra dank. Trust.
