When it comes to long-lasting brush-on liquid liners, MAC’s Liquidlast Liners pretty much set the bar for me, combining rich color AND awesome extended wear time. Once I even left a swatch of it on the back of a hand, you know, to see how long it would last? No joke — TWO DAYS!
Yup, and that includes showering and washing my hands. 🙂
Liquidlast has rockin’ wear time and comes in a bunch of fun colors … but they’re not exactly cheap ($18.50 each).
Enter Milani. Their five new Infinite Liquid Eye Liners fluid liners have a lot in common with the MAC Liquidlasts (similar thin texture, brush applicator and rich pigmentation), but one way they REALLY differ is price.
Cost: just $6.
And they’re pretty easy to apply and blend, too. I’ve been smudging ’em on my lids as a base for Milani’s Crystal Eyez Glitters (my St. Paddy’s Day FOTD).
Do I think they last as long as MAC’s Liquidlasts?
Almost. Just for fun I tried the same unscientific back-of-the-hand swatch test I did for MAC Liquidlast… Infinite lasted a full 24 hours or so, not quite measuring up to MAC’s 2-day wear time but pretty respectable nevertheless. Considering their colors, quality and price (!), I gotta give big props to Milani.
One item of note: they aren’t exactly quick-dry material and can take up to five minutes to dry. Might be something to think about when you’re in a hurry. I haven’t minded waiting because the extra time’s allowed me to manipulate the liner. All in all, these are darn good for the price, and I hope to see Milani bust ’em out in more colors. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Ugh, I sure can’t par-tay like I used to. I only had one St. Paddy’s beer last night and got home by 10:30, but I’m still tired as all hell, ma!
Expect plenty of nonsense typing like tjlaurieob uio3bv i;doiuc as the day wears on… I believe I just fell asleep at the keyboard.

Ooooh! Those look gorgeous! So pigmented and colorful!
Karen says
They are a lot of fun, especially if you like doing layered looks.
Sophie says
Ah those colors look so pretty! I don’t think they sell this brand over in Europe though.. but I really love the purple and if it lasts as long as you say I will try to find them online somewhere. Too cute!
Karen says
I hope you can find ’em. I know they sell them on the Milani website… not sure if they ship internationally, though.
Scientific Housewife says
Great colors, I’ll have to check those out!
Karen says
I hope you do! They’re not bad for $6. 🙂

It’s really good, right? Love the color!
Fabienne says
I’m curious about the black. When it dries, how is the finish? (I am searching for an absolute black that dries black, with none of that bluish sheen!)
Karen says
It dries as a very true black. I have issues with black liners turning blue on me too, btw!
heyhey says
Feeling the green and purple. Woot on the BOGO deal. Now to gently encourage Mah Dude to take us someplace worthy of some extra eye sparkle … [muhahah]
Karen says
Go girl! You and your honey need to do it up so you can have excuse to rock these. 🙂
Fabienne says
Does the black dry matte, or shiny? (I think the thing that repels me from liquid liner is it dries shiny. I like matte texture a lot!)
Sharon says
Those look excellent… I usually wash off my makeup when I get home from work, so if the Milani eyeliners last long enough to get through a work day that would make me very happy. Wanting the bronze, purple and black. The other day I saw some Milani products in the grocery store; if they carry the eyeliners I’ll definitely pick up the purple. 🙂
Karen says
They take a little effort to remove… do you have a good eye makeup remover on hand?
The Crochet Queenn says
I like the blue and green,I have never used a liquid liner! I’m pretty new to makeup.I’m using Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner by bobbi brown.

Liquid liner can be tricky.
By far the easiest liquid liner I’ve ever used is LORAC’s Front of the Line Pro. It’s the BOMB DOT COM!!

LOL I went to sleep at 3am! I wasn’t going to do anything but in the end me and a friend did last minute plans. These are awesome, I’d love to see all those great drugstore brands like NYX, Milani, L’Oreal Hip arriving here. What I don’t like about MAC’s Liquidlasts is that they can be quite difficult to take off, does that happen with these too?
.-= Marce’s last blog post… FOTD – St Paddy’s Day Green Eye Makeup =-.
Karen says
Yeah, these are hard (but not as hard as Liquidlast). You have to have an industrial-strength eye makeup remover around.
Ashley says
A Canadian grocery store here in my province finally carries Milani but a very limited stock. If you’re going to bring over amazing cosmetics from the U.S. could you please bring it ALL over??!

LOL, Ashley!

If you have a CVS Care card you might want to pop by this week. They have a BOGO sale going on (see Nina’s comment below).

these look awesome, but the packaging makes them look a little cheap and dated but the colors are great! they should consider updating their packaging!
Karen says
Yeah, I agree. It’s kinda ’80s!
Rebecca says
Me likey the golden-brown one 🙂 And I think Milani might be on sale at CVS this week!

Yeah, there’s an in-store BOGO coupon (see Nina’s comment).
Nina says
Oh wow those look so pigmented and beautiful.
I think imma grab some — if you have a CVS Extra Care Card, you can print an instore coupon for BOGO on Milani products – I was going to use that to grab their perfectly red lipstick thingamajooo … but I think id rather get those liners. Or both. 😛
Have a good evening, Karen!
Karen says
Ooh, good to know! Thanks for sharing the BOGO info with us, girl!
You have a good evening too… right now I’m trying to get psyched for a three mile run (I’d really rather just take a nap).

I crashed pretty soon after that … I have a bit of a cold because the weather here is going bananas. Its cold again – and will get into the high 30s overnight. Were also expecting thunderstorms for Saturday! 😀

marisol says
Those look like some amazing colors but my hand is shaky when applying liners so I could never use these without making a big ole mess.
Karen says
Hi Marisol,
One thing I do that helps is to prop my elbow/arm on a surface first (either on a table or against the wall. Bracing myself against something seems to help a lot with the shakiness.
marisol says
That makes sense. See I usually put on my MU sitting on my bed. Not so smart that early in the morning.
Karen says
Sometimes I wish somebody would put on my makeup for me while I was still lying in bed, ha ha!
marisol says
That would be so awesome! I am surprised I haven’t ever poked my eye since I am barely coherent in the mornings. So not a morning person.
.-= marisol’s last blog post… Beauty makes people come together =-.
Karen says
Ya know, I used to totally not be not a morning person… but recently I trained myself to be one (writing seems to be better for me in the morning) and now I don’t mind it so much. There’s gotta be caffeine up in the mix though…
Citrine says
I have the purple one but I always made a huge mess because my (hooded?) eyelid as the liner takes forever to dry…
Anyway, I think Milani is a bit hit-or-miss for me, I love many of their limited edition lip/nail products but I am not always happy with their eye makeup.
Karen says
Aww, that’s too bad Citrine. The long dry time is one thing I actually like about these…
Have you tried MAC Liquidlast? Those might work better for you.
Rica says
Thses look so nice… I would love to have them… How come they’re not here in Canada?

I think these are relatively new… hopefully soon ya’ll will be getting them!
C.K. says
Hi Karen! Love your blog.
Are those hard to apply? I’ve only tried liquid eyeliners a couple of times, but failed so am hesitant to try again. But these look so pretty! Is the brush very thin?
Also, are the colors a little sparkly? I love black eyeliner, but it would be fun if it wasn’t entirely just plain black.
Karen says
Hi C.K.,
I’m pretty clumsy but didn’t find these too hard. One trick that you can try that might help: apply a little to the back of your hand first. Then, dip a brush with a thin pointed tip into the liner (Sonia Kashuk makes a fab one called the Bent Liner brush, and it’s only $6) and then use that to apply it to your eyes.
And yup, some of the colors do have sparkle. The black shade is just plain ol’ black, unfortch, but it’s still very pretty.

Karen, how close is that blue to the one Estee Lauder just released in Bronze Goddess? From memory, they’re very similar. You think you could get away with using this all over the lid, like a cream shadow?

I was thinking the same thing about the blue one! Its such a pretty color and if its similar to the Estee lauder one, I want it!

Amalee says
Oooh! These look delightful. I’ve actually been trying to find something to dupe my MAC Liquidlast because that’s all that lasts on my upper lash line 😐 But I’m glad they came out with these! 🙂
Catherine says

Simone says
ooh! How well do you think these would work on the waterline, Karen?
Savannah says
I actually bought a Milani (I think) it was a kohl pencil eyeliner in black, and it very quickly became my favorite, go to eyeliner. The only place I can find this brand though is at grocery stores. It was like $2.50 or so and I love it! I’m think I might have to buy one to keep in my makeup bag in my purse. It has great pigmentation and lasts all day. But you are right it does need a good makeup remover to get it off, I use Ponds Cold Cream makeup remover.
Thanks Karen(=
