Wearing Neutrogena MoistureShine Gloss in Copper Power on my lips
Currently on my list of things I can’t get enough of…
1. Nude heels
For the longest time I was all about black shoes because I thought, hey, they go with everything, right? These days, I’m all about nudes. Nude heels, nude sandals and — oh! I’m think I’m gonna need to find a pair of nude boots by fall.
Basically, if it’s in a nude color, goes on my feet and appears to make my legs look longer (as nude shoes are wont to do), I’m there.
2. Cat stickers
I always use the tabby ones first. 🙂 One of these days I’m going to make some Tabs stickers. That would be rad to the Nth degree, for real! Of course, there would have to be several stickers showing off his husky tum (of course).
3. Smiles
My mum
Mom always says, “Smile, and the whole world smiles with you.”
I think that’s great advice.
4. And because this is MBB, a fabulous drugstore lipgloss that costs less than lunch!
From the upper left to the lower right: Super Sparkle, Fruity Pink, Healthy Blush, Nutri Berry, Natural Boost, Coper Power, Pure Cider, Vita Plum, Vital Violet, Refreshing Rose, Potent Plum, Berry Fit, Wine Wellness and Healthy Peach
These Neutrogena MoistureShine Glosses are just $7.99! — and yes, baby girl, they’re the real deal. They come in a wide range of 14 wearable colors in a variety of finishes and levels of coverage, from sheer neutrals, to punchy pinks, to bright berries and more.
Obsessed!
They last about three hours on me, which isn’t bad for a gloss, and also come with a handy doe-foot applicator. The formula contains a berry antioxidant complex of acai, goji and aronia (commonly referred to as “chokeberry,” a berry native to Eastern North America) to supposedly soften and smooth lips over time.
Now, these days I take claims like that with a grain of salt (or goji, if you know what I mean), and I try not to expect a lot when companies make product promises. In this case, though, over the months I’ve been wearing these off and on, I will say that my lips haven’t been as flaky as they were last winter.

Oh, sure — you can find other fab drugstore lipglosses for less (like the Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipglosses and NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshines), but I always like having options.
Not only are these non-sticky, super comfy and hydrating, but their faint berry flavor and scent doesn’t get all up in my grill, making them great when I’m in the mood for something mellow.
Neutrogena doesn’t take too many chances when it comes to makeup, and I think of them as a pretty conservative line, kinda like a Bobbi Brown of the drugstore world. They aren’t known for crazy colors — just straight-up pretty products designed to enhance your features.
And that’s how I think of these MoistureShine Glosses. They’re shiny and pigmented enough to catch your attention, but they steer clear of ultra-high-fashion runway colors.
I mean, I love those kinds of glosses, too, but for something like an interview or date, I’d much rather wear a MoistureShine.
PRICE: $7.99 each

That’s a good comparison–Neutrogena and Bobbi Brown. I am totally digging Vita Plum and Healthy Peach–so, so, so pretty. Neutrogena just makes really great, natural looking, *pretty* lip products
Karen says
Hi Becca,
They sure do! I love how everything looks so effortless. Have you ever worn their blushes? They’re really good too.
Swatch And Learn says
Wow, thanks for swatching all those lip glosses! That’s a lot of work, Karen!
Hehe, what cute cat stickers those are!
Karen says
You’re welcome! 🙂 I hope you found a few colors that you like.
Chelsea says
Karen, if you make Tabs stickers, I want on the waiting list!
These are gorgeous glosses! I’m not normally a gloss girl (tinted lip balm or stains for me) but I might hit up the Neutrogena section at Walgreens.
Karen says
Of course! I’d have to make you a special sticker where he looks extra chunky. 🙂
Are you still on your trip?
Chelsea says
Nope, I got home a couple days ago! It was a wonderful trip though!
Rachel says
Nude shoes are getting a lot of love from me too! 🙂 I always just walk past Neutrogena section at my drugstore. I need to keep my eyes open for these! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
Spend some time looking around the Neutrogena section. They have some good glosses and blushes. 🙂
Two Chicks and Some Lipstick says
As professional makeup artists, we at Two Chicks LOVE these glosses for the exact reason you mentioned. They are light-weight but have enough pigmentation to make a difference you wil be able to notice!
Great blog post!!
Karen says
Thanks! That’s cool that you two work as professional makeup artists. What type of work do you do? TV, print, bridal?
Lulle says
Wow, these glosses look really great! I need to check out Wine Wellness, Pure Cider, and Healthy Peach. Neutrogena makeup is oftern on sale in my drugstore, so I’ll probably wait for the next deal!
Karen says
Hi Lulle,
You picked some great colors. Let me know if you see any good sales!
Mary says
All the colors look so good on you!! I’m so excited to check these out. What blush are you wearing and how do you get that beautiful glow on your face?
Karen says
Hi Mary,
I’m wearing NARS Amour in these pics. It’s a matte peachy pink and one of my all-time fave blushes! Do you want a link to a review? Just let me know. 🙂
Leona says
Love the glosses. It’s hard to find nonsticky pigmented glosses with decent wear times. Thanks for doing all the footwork. I definately need to check these out! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Leona,
You’re welcome. 🙂 I hope you like these! What shades are you thinking about checking out?
musical says
Cool find! Are these a new variety? Because usually what I see from Neutrogena at my local CVSs is the tube glosses and tinted balms. These look lovely! Will look for ’em.
My current things that i can’t have enough of: night time reading, hot showers with a minty shower gel, coral glosses/lipsticks, and my Tarte achiote blush. Oh, and Gucci Envy Me perfume!
musical says
PS: Lovely, sun-shiney picture of your Mom and some sound advice from her! Thank you for sharing!
Karen says
Hi Musical,
I think they’ve relatively new. They’re been around for a few months. 🙂 Copper Power would probably work well with your skin tone!
Ooh, what are you reading? I just finished The Age of Miracles and enjoyed it very much.
musical says
Thank you for the recos, Karen! Our skin tone is pretty similar and i think i’ll get Copper Power and one of the berries or plums :).
I’ve been reading 1Q84-epic sized book, but I’m loving it! “The Age of Miracles” is infact the next one on my list, along with Olive Kitteridge (yes, I know-I am LATE).
Lacey says
Karen, I love the look of those glosses. Great pictures, and your Mom gave amazing advice!
Karen says
Thanks, Lacey! I hope you find a few colors that you like. 🙂
Vanessa D. says
Wow I can’t wait to try these! I LOVE gloss but hate the stickiness so I’m excited to try these out!
m says
The glosses look great. I may have to hunt down one of the plums. 🙂
BTW if you love cat stickers you should check out Maido for super cute Japanese ones. They’re tiny but the sheets have so many. Can’t remember if they had tabbys though.
Elizabeth says
I would totally buy Tabs stickers.
Nina says
Your mom is fierce! 🙂 And yep, cat stickers FTW!
Not these glosses but ive been using the Neutrogena Shine Free Foundation lately and ive gotta say — its one of the best drugstore foundations ive used!
It seems Neutrogena makeup is neglected … and im on a mission ot rediscover them. Im going to start w/ these glosses – I am in definite need of retail therapy!
artemis says
cute 😀
Leah @ Mile High Beauty Blog says
I’m dying to get my hands on some nude patent LK Bennet heels. I used to be all about the black heels as well but have been trying to branch out a bit.
Stephanie C says
oooh! i love how you swatch ’em out. there are some really pretty colors in there. ♥ a great little boost on the lips. i don’t like gloss or lipsticks that draw tooooo much attention to my mouth, but complement the over all look instead. ♥

I am also loving nude shoes, stickers (I love horsey stickers) and smiles. Neutrogena has some great stuff – I used to buy their lip glosses with the cooling menthol all the time (I get bored and change it up, my latest lip obsession is Burt’s Bee’s). By the way, finally found the new L’Oreal Infallible 24 hour Eye Shadows at Walmart – but they were out of Endless Sea! Oh well, I managed to pick up Glistening Garnet, Liquid Diamond, and Golden Emerald. I had previously gotten Eternal Sunshine and Amber Rush and LOVE them. They last all day and are really nicely pigmented. Those Neutrogena lipglosses give you a beautiful glow and your mother has a beautiful, genuine smile (as do you). Gotta love the simple things in life!
Kim says
I love that pic of your mom! And she’s totally right because I smiled immediately, just looking at her smile. 🙂
It’s funny you mention the truth in advertising issue because I was just telling the boys this AM that they needed to cut down on the NutriGrain bars. They were reluctant to believe that the bars weren’t super-healthy because of the name. Ah, youth.
