As much as I love Pacifica’s Body Butters, there are some days when I just don’t want to wear a scented moisturizer, like when I’m loving on a new fragrance.
I’ve been wearing a couple of new scents lately and haven’t wanted my body lotions to clash, so when I spotted this bottle of fragrance-free Olay Quench Advanced Healing Body Lotion ($6), I had to snap it up.
Talk about happy drugstore lotion accidents. 🙂
Olay recently revamped the bottle and the name, so I must have found one of the leftovers from the older packaging. The new version looks a little different (same formula though) and goes by a new name, Quench Advanced Healing Intensive Lotion.
I hadn’t been crazy about the other lotions I’ve tried from Olay’s Quench line because all of them had strong scents and contained mica (hello, shiny finish!), both of which Olay kept out of Advanced Healing. Good call, methinks, because not only will sensitive schnozzes appreciate Olay’s thoughtful little omission, but most dudes will too (I’m pretty sure El Hub’s been using my bottle on the ‘low).
Olay claims long-term use of Advanced Healing puts an end to chronically dry skin forever (which is quite a long time) by 1) restoring the natural moisture barrier to skin and 2) by keeping skin moisturized and thereby preventing dry skin from staging a comeback.
It’s been my body lotion du jour for the past two weeks, and my skin and I have been really happy with it. No greasy or sticky residue, and it absorbs in the blink of an eye (a slow blink, mind you, but you get the idea).
It wouldn’t even be worth a mention, however, if it didn’t moisturize well, and I think it does.
I can’t vouch for Olay’s claim that it puts an end to chronically dry skin forever, but it does keep ye olde dry limbs supple and soft for a good 24 hours at a time.
And then there’s the awesome price. The 11.8 oz bottle will only set you back about $6; the larger 20.2 oz one goes for about $10, which might leave enough change left over for an ice cream cone (yep, I haven’t had desert). 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

P.S. Oh, Dreamgirls was a lot of fun this afternoon, but now I’m pretty sleepy. It was a long drive, and traffic into and out of San Fran was typically terrible for a Saturday. I think it’s time I get some shuteye…

Ahh, Quench! You and I go way back 😉 I got hooked on Quench when it first came out — they used to make a Sensitive Skin version of the regular moisturizer, which was also blissfully scent-free. It got discontinued, though, and I was unable to find anything even comprable in terms of comfort and moisture… until they released this one! Huge <3s.

How did you know that I have been looking for a good non-scented body moisturizer? 🙂 I will have to check this out!

Sounds great! I’ll check it out! 🙂

Hmmmm….I think I have a sample of this complimentary when I bought the new Olay body wash with Mandarin oil (the orange one)….. gotta try it soon, after reading your review. Dry Californian weather has dried up my skin quite a bit….Been slathering on any lotion I could get my hands on onto my body.

Olay is not Tabs-approved. 🙁

I haven’t tried the lotion but I had the body wash, which was highly scented. Unfortunately, the scent was very reminiscent of vomit. I’m a big miser and don’t waste anything, but I had to throw that out! I think that experience might have turned me off the quench line. However, I love the olay body ribbons!

Sensitive noses you say? That would be me! Im in line for this lotion! 😀

Does this have that sorta slick feeling on your skin like other silicone lotions have? I’m hoping it is minimal since it is lower on the ingredient list. We’ve had 3 lower temp, lower humidity days (haaay fall) and I can already see my skin drying out.

I know yesterday the traffic on the 101 was AWFUL. Totally not moving at times. SIgh.

Hi Karen! This question is kind of specific, but how does this Olay lotion compare to Johnson’s 24 Hour Moisturizer body lotion: https://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/product-reviews/heavy-hydration-on-the-cheap-johnsons-body-care-24-hour-moisturing-body-wash-and-lotion/
I bought the Johnson’s lotion after your rave review and I’m just about ready to buy another bottle of something. Which do you suggest?
I’m glad you enjoyed Dreamgirls! I would have loved to see Wicked before it left SF this weekend, but alas, there was no Oz in the cards for me.

I’ve been looking for a decent unscented lotion, and the price is certainly a bonus!

I like the Quench lotion with green tea in it. Back when the Quench line was first launched I could not STAND the scent (it smelled like vomit to me also, like the person who commented before me on the body wash) but since they’ve reformulated the scent (or what the “fragrance free” smells like) it’s so much better. And it really does keep my skin soft for 24 hours.
I also tried the Quench in-shower body lotion but it has mica in it. I don’t feel like that’s a necessary ingredient in body lotion unless you’re looking for something with shimmer.

I ♥ Quench, especially the sparkly finish, which I’m kind of sad that this one doesn’t have it.
I can’t wait to see Dreamgirls when it comes to my city in November!

no more sparkle! 🙁 there goes about 70% of my intrigue of trying the new reformulated better smell…lame =/

It’s been ages since I’ve tried Quench, but it felt heavy to me at the time. My fave drugstore lotion is St. Ives Collagen and Elastin (they have other flavors but I don’t like any of them as much). I find it to be very light but still very moisturizing.
Olay and I have never really been friends in the body wash category either. I find their moisturizing washes make my shower floor super slick (making me occasionally flail around like a moose that’s lost her footing on ice!).

I’ve been using Olay’s Quench Body Lotion in Deep Moisture and I am ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH IT!! (yes the caps are necessary!! that’s how much I love this product!) I’ve never tried the advanced healing formula but the Deep Moisture formula has little bits of glitter in it which give me a really nice glow especially on the legs. Also, I’m not if the scent is different but it has a very nice subtle scent which doesn’t over power my perfume. It’s super moisturizing and has cocoa butter in it! (We all know the magical powers of cocoa butter, right? 🙂 ) I think you should definitely give it a try after this bottle. I’m on my 3rd one and I don’t see myself buying a different lotion any time soon!
