I need a Game of Thrones moment before I get into these new skin care products from Pixi (wasn’t Sunday’s episode righteously epic?!), so here’s a shout-out to one of my favorite fictional families, House Tyrell, and their strong women, especially Olenna Tyrell, who was a freakin’ savage till the end.
The symbol of House Tyrell was a rose, and these two new products from Pixi are roses as well. They’re both $24 each and available now. There’s Rose Caviar Essence — a moisturizing, brightening serum with rose oil — and Rose Flash Balm — a multipurpose moisturizer with rose extract that also works as a primer and face mask.
Both of them are lightly scented like a single stemmed rose. Ah…
Pixi Rose Flash Balm
Flash Balm is Pixi’s version of a cult classic from Clarins called Flash Beauty Balm, a product that I never quite understood. I’ve heard makeup artists say that it perks up lackluster skin, which Pixi Rose Flash Balm is also supposed to do, but eh, I don’t really see the perkiness.
I do, however, like how moisturized it makes my skin feel and that it doesn’t leave an oily film behind. I also think that my pores look slightly less intense when I use it.
Pixi Rose Flash Balm ingredients
Water/Aqua/Eau, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Propylene Glycol, Octyldodecanol, Tapioca Starch, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Triethyl Citrate, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sucrose Cocoate, Glycerin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Rose Extract, Bisabolol, Ethylhexylglyercin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Citrate, Red 40 (CI 16035)
Pixi Rose Caviar Essence
The Rose Caviar Essence, though, is SO COOL! See how the product looks like it has these tiny flecks? Those are flower and plant oils suspended in a weightless gel.
Pixi Rose Caviar ingredients
Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinenesis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract, Bixa Orellana Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Adenosine, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Carbomer, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Tromethamine, Chlorphenesin,1,2-Hexanediol, Iron Oxide (CI 77491).
When I work Rose Caviar into my skin after cleansing and toning (during my serum step), it feels light and a little sticky at first, but the stickiness goes away as I keep working it in.
By the time the product is fully absorbed, my skin feels HELLA hydrated, like it does after I’ve applied a face oil, except without the greasy oiliness.
Might be something to try if you need more moisture but can’t stand products that feel thick and heavy.
Like all Pixi products, these aren’t tested on animals, and you can find them now at Target and online.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Olenna Tyrell (and her portrayer, Diana Rigg) is a boss. I love her.
The Caviar Essence is so pretty in the bottle! I can look at it and tell it’d break me out though!

I have super breakout prone skin and this made me GLOW with no breakouts!!! I can’t speak for you for sure (plant-based products are like that) but I would give it a go. It’s super HYDRATING not greasy-moisturizing the way some things are. Totally in love. I’m halfway through mine already.

Hi Elizabeth,
Glad to hear you like it! 🙂
Karen says
Yeah she is. I was bummed to see her leave but she peaced out like a gangster! She’s one of my favorite characters, ever.

Seriously? I thought the tube was just printed with that design, not that the product actually looked like that. Awesome! Yes, major props to the Queen of Thorns for being venomous until the end. And I’m sad to report that Jaime is a better person than me because I think I would have been like “um, remember that painless death… I’ve reconsidered and I think we have some time before the poison kicks in”. HAHA!

The queen of thorns will be greatly missed on the show. I love seeing a strong witty woman thrive in a male dominated society. And yeah, total old lady goals right there, what a fierce beauty!
The pixi items look good, I’ve been meaning to try the Clarins balm for years and have just never gotten around to it!

I find pixi products overpriced here in Canada for what they are you can get Lise Watier for that price range
